No, just no.
This is ridiculous. Why? I have reasons up my ass. I'm not even going to mention the physical aspects, of virtual worlds and all that.
First of all, how many countries really play video games competitively? It sounds like it would be a battle between Korea/Japan/The U.S. and a handful of European countries. Do you really think Mali and Ethiopia will have tons of topnotch quality gamers lying around?
Second of all, who would decide whi...
Hell, if you don't believe me, let's do the math, with some numbers according to Wiki (I know its somewhat unreliable, but let's just use it as reference)
Wii Play (11.51 million)
Mario Kart Wii (6.42 million)
Super Mario Galaxy (6.1 million)
Wii Fit (5.27 )
Mario Party 8 (4.86 million)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (4.85 million)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (4.52 million)
Super Paper Mario (2.28 million)
Big Brain Academy: W...
Umm... I don't know if you noticed, but this does not prove anything. First of all, this chart INCLUDES 1st party games. Meaning if Nintendo sold 60 million, and 3rd party sold only 1 million, we would not be able to tell from this chart.
Second of all, the Wii has sold more consoles during the first 19 months. What, the Wii with 24 million consoles sold more games than 14 million Ps3s?
Third of all, because of the wiimote bundles, it includes Link's Crossbow training, ...
The article definitely points to the postives of MS's customer service, but its more than just about the short term send out. I'm sure plenty of people here have had consoles brick on them (my original xbox and ps2 both died out on me) and both of which did not have a 3 year warranty. In the end, I found it cheaper to just pick up a new ps2 and fix the xbox myself.
Sure, short term, MS's RROD repair service has a real good turnaround, but gamers want to still have their console...
Yeah, Kasumi is definitely top five material, and yet she was strangely missing.
Oh neat, my eighth bubble, thanks all. Pal is going to be keeping the fest going(Ace, you too buddy) pass on the love :-)
Aww, how cute, a bubblefest. I wish I was here a half hour ago :-p
The moral of the story is... there is no point to reserving a game! Okay, well, unless there is a limited run like Atlus games, a limited run of a special edition, or preordering incentives, just don't. Okay, so there are some reasons, but for your average game its not worth it.
The only two times I've preordered anything, the gamestop didn't have it on day one anyway, they didn't call me when it...
@tplarkin7
You clearly underestimate the game. Supposedly you can put whatever music you want into your levels!
Wii's mistakes-
Ignoring core fanbase?
@Remember
Hey now, don't put down DW. Sure, it has its flaws, but its does what is intended to do. If you're the kind of person who wants to play a game where you are a big general with a massive lance who kills thousands of tiny little guys and occasionally other big generals, do you really care about little thing like plot, or sound, or plot, or innovation, or plot?
While I don't necessarily agree with him, and this comment is going to try to sound as unbiased/nonfanboy as possible, money and advertisements are a big factor in video game journalism. Remember the big scandal last year about Kane and Lynch at Gamespot last year? The biggest revenue for video game journalism is... video game advertisements.
Normally in journalism, you don't spend week after week after week detailing products made by the very companies that pay to put advertisements ...
When you dig through some of the junk (Bioshock/Orange Box/ Guitar Hero 2 can't be considered exclusives), and keep in mind that 88+ is still pretty good, it really comes down to...
MS--> Gears/Mass Effect/Halo/Dead Rising/Forza vs.
Sony --> MGS/Resistance/Uncharted/ Ratchet/GT 5 vs.
Nintendo --> Mario/Link/Samus/Smash/Zak and Wiki
The exclusives don't really sway as much to one side as the chart makes it seem. By all mean...
Shallow gameplay? Call of Duty/Halo ripoff? Have you played or even seen either R game?
Epic boss battles, dozens of different enemies, some classic weapons, but mostly completely unique and useful new weaponry? The original halo had what, 7 different enemies who just had different colors? grunts/elites/jackals/hunters/ flood/flood zombies/flood bombers, am I missing anything? Its levels were open/empty and half of them repeated themselves.
R1 was Insomniac's first atte...
Yeah, considering how big they were into MS's conference, who if I recall didn't show anything new whatsoever (besides casual/XBL games) its a bit odd. MAG, GoW3, DC Universe, new Ratchet and Clank, a pile of new handheld games and a few ps2 games I had never heard of.
Well, so far, we haven't really seen a real, full-scale combat game that emulates war perfectly. CoD4 was good, Warhawk, etc, but a real big, epic action game would really break the genre.
Multiplatform FF13 was by far the biggest announcement of E3, but it was the only big thing from MS, and it was a bit limited ( exclusive in Japan still, where MS actually needs the help, no Versus, and STILL no gameplay shots). God of War 3, MAG, several other new games, a ps3 pricecut, two...
You missed two big ones.
Starcraft/Warcraft? We've had some incredible times with those.
Well, it would help if Square didn't shaft ps3 owners in everything else. Obviously a company does what it has to to make money, and could care less about us... but Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant are 360 exclusive/timed exclusives, which makes no sense considering the rpg-fanbase on the 360. What rpgs do we have to expect from the biggest rpg company there is? FF13. That's really just about it. So most of us ps3 jrpg fans have been waiting patiently, and yet we haven't heard a...
Its not the developers fault. Microsoft wants to expand... but can't, because Japan hates them. Yet, they still drop all this money into timed exclusives they most likely would have sold just as many units as multiplatform games. I don't feel backstabbed, or betrayed, I'm just pissed that Microsoft is still wasting money trying to get the jrpg audience, which clearly wants no part of the 360.
Seriously... Tales/Last Remnant/Star Ocean 4/ Infinite Undiscovery/Eternal Sonata et...
Dear MS. Stop ****ing paying big money for rpg exclusives that end up getting neglected anyway and won't actually help you out in Japan. You're ruining jrpgs for the rest of us.
I wouldn't say the writing is bad, just that the structure is very very bad. Very quote-heavy, oversummarizing, and a really pathetic conclusion, in example.
