When looking at this list, the first two missing studios that shot to my mind were Bioware and Blizzard, so good call SOAD. Its a good list, but its not quite as crisp as it could be.
Many would disagree with Capcom, Ubisoft and Square Enix. Quantic Dream/ Insomniac/ Level 5 could be included-- they're up there for me atleast. OH, and Sid Meiers!!!
Agreed. This generation has been very different from previous ones in that it seems like a handful of studios (ie, mostly these 17 plus or minus a few) have been making quality and the rest have been making garbage. I get the feeling that the rising costs of making a next-gen game have changed the dynamics of developing games.
Take off the fanboy goggles please. Battalion Wars and Endless Ocean ARE B-rate games that Nintendo put few resources into. Nintendo had NOTHING to do with the creation of Xenosaga. Wario first appeared in 1992.The first Sin and Punishment appeared in 2000. You do not make a very strong argument.
Nintendo has been so successful because they make a new IP that's very innovative and well made, and it spawns a lot of sales, critical support and fanfare. Animal Crossing and P...
Noober needs to be on this list. He is easily the most annoying character of all time, and that's what he was designed to be.
Xenoblade is Monolith's, not Nintendo, plus its a cousin to Xenosaga. Professor Layton is Level 5, not Nintendo. Zeginki Regniv gets 0 results from a google search so either you made it up or spelled it badly.
The rest are B-rate games that Nintendo put very few resources into.
Its been what... 10 years since Pikmin/Animal Crossing? He's saying the gaming industry is getting boring, but they haven't created a new IP in 10 years.
What else has Eat Sleep Play been doing in the 18 months between Calling all Cars and then?
Maybe we didn't know about Borderlands, but that doesn't mean it wasn't in development. Borderlands was revealed Sept 2007, Rage was revealed July 2007. Borderlands beat Rage to the punch on actually being released by atleast a year. Even then, Borderlands didn't feel fresh to me then because it was so much like Fallout 3. The graphics in Rage are far far superior, but what else does it have over Borderlands and Fallout? Why don't they just make a new World War 2 game, th...
Skittles and Awkward twins get my vote for #1. Damn, that was painful.
@miroque Exactly. The 3DS really doesn't hurt them in any way. They aren't launching a 3D PSP any time soon, and handhelds won't hurt the ps3. Plus Sony has bigger stakes than the ps3-- they're big into 3D televisions these days too.
Namco HYPE TIME CRISIS MORE. For a ps3 exclusive, its getting no exposure at all.
The last time crisis was one of the most overlooked exclusives for the PS3. This got minimal time in the sony press conference montage, but this should be a good game to demo the move.
Agreed. Suikoden 6 doesn't need graphics. Just the gameplay of S2.
I think it has to do with the big Coke sponsorship.
Fanboys are hilarious sometimes. Microsoft impressed with Kinect? Who? And where are these polls?
And Sony's move being expensive? They priced the controllers at the same as wii with motion plus.
So many great games and features. Cannot wait till TGS!
Heroes by the Move, a new Crisis, Twisted Metal, Portal, and Sorcery were all announced. Kevin Butler was awesome. Plus, they announced the new God of War, Killzone, Motorstorm, Infamous and LBP in the last month, and some of those games saw footage the first time. All in all, a great show from Sony.
Goldeneye is going to be huge. But I agree with the article, Nintendo lost major points by screwing up the Zelda presentation. I also think its about time they retire some of these franchises and make something new. Their last new series-- Animal Crossing/Pikmin-- came out in 2001. Nintendo, you're talented enough, so stop rehashing please.
This guy says that Force Unleashed 2 is available for 5 platforms, and he says thats a lot. But Force 1 was available for 8.
Sony has a baseball license. EA wants a baseball license. Sony and EA are friends. This could also clear up SCE San Diego for other projects. I'm not a big EA fan, but Sony might be considering profiting from this.
