Emulators are always one to two generations behind. Find me a fully functioning saturn emulator, and we'll talk. Will it happen eventually? Sure. But not in three years.

You don't know what you're talking about. Sony has nothing to do with Insomniac except for handing them money. Insomniac has two teams working on its games. They've been releasing a new game every year on the ps3 for 4 years, so why would they stop now, when they have a good grasp on the technology? They announced R2 at E3 2008, and R2 came out fall 2008, same year.

I wasn't a big fan either. Consider the weapons you have at your disposal. Pistol, machine gun, crossbow, shotgun. Really? How original. Plasmids? Fire, ice, electricity. Since my reading of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged was fresh in my mind, the plot-- which was based a lot on the epic novel's major themes-- paled in comparison.

Okay everyone, back up. There is no better actor for Snake than Kurt Russel. His performance in Escape from LA/NY heavily influenced the modern Solid Snake (Snake Plisken anyone?). Sure, he's aged a bit since then, but hey, that's perfect, because so has Snake. Aka, much better than big boss.
You also have to understand that making sequels is wayyy cheaper than making a new game--that's why companies are so sequel-heavy these days.
The game engine is there, and the team working on the game is much more experienced by then. Obviously there will be adjustments to be made, some big, some not, but they don't need to start from scratch.
So they would rather hang out with White Knight, FF13, GOD OF WAR, and all the other big must haves in spring when there ISNT a holiday reason for people to buy their game? I do not believe that.

What does the PSP3000 have to do with the PSP being THE most pirated system this generation? They fixed it, sure, but how many millions of psps are out there that aren't secure?
I agree with Frag. It can be done, but its just not practical yet. Back in the ps2 days, the first four years of the ps2's life cycle, dvd burners were extremely expensive, like a grand each, and it cost like 5-10 dollars for dvdR's. The only reason piracy existed was because the system used both dvds and cdrs, so pirates could rip videos and large files out of the dvds and make them fit into cds, but nowadays, ps2 piracy is wayyyy more common.
Oh, and Sony is doing a good job...
Well, that, and the release of FF13 in Japan probably helps.

We've seen what monster hunter did for the PSP in Japan. Why pay for all those rpgs when the best bet is putting stock into the biggest new series in Japan. Sure, the next game in the series is hitting the wii, but you never know who the wealthiest company in the industry will write its check to.

Microsoft has spent millions on securing exclusive jrpgs for its consoles, and fighting for multiplatform ports for big name japanese games. They see sales bursts for the first week or two after big game releases, but then sales drop off quickly.
It seems like their only option at this point is to get a huge game, like a numbered monster hunter/FF/ DQ exclusive, but all of those games take far too long to make, and would be extremely costly to secure exclusivity rights.
Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Marvel vs. Capcom, Dead Rising Mega Man... I feel like it would be really tough to ruin that many great franchises.
But then again, Square and Sega have been failing miserably to make good games, so maybe capcom is doing something extremely right.
Its a pretty good attempt, but the graphics are wayyy too blocky. Definitely fake, the graphics of games aren't supposed to get worse. Seriously, compare the last jak game on the ps2 with this one, not even close.
All signs point to the ps2 price drop being on April 5th, not March 31st. Also, Kotaku has already posted an article about that today anyway.

This article is really just nitpicking. Dragon age had more than enough male homosexual scenes, and just a few months later he's expecting more? In our world, the population of homosexuals is well below 10%, and yet this guy expects homosexual romantic oppurtunities to be everywhere.
God of War 3 does the same thing, female lesbian scenes, but(as far as I've seen) no male ones, but its relevant to the game.
