Sakaguchi thinks FF9 is the best final fantasy huh?
While that's clearly subjective, its definitely not the most popular.
Man, I really thought my response very unbiased, but I must have ticked some people off. Sorry, definitely not intentional. What does hardcore mean? I dunno, a person who plays a lot of games I guess. The opposite of casual gamers who play from time to time and don't play every big game, only the ones that interest them a lot.
What does the ps3 have to do with my post? Yes, I've seen top ten lists of "best new ips on the wii" but quite frankly, it hasn't really gotten my attention. Bloom Blox and No more Heroes do nothing for me. Has Nintendo themselves revealed anything new? Wii Fit is the closest thing to a new ip coming anytime soon, and I prefer the treadmill myself--its much more effective.
All us hardcore gamers never thought the wii would have dominated like it has, and for a while I've been under the opinion it would soon fade, but to claim that it won't raises many questions. What does nintendo have coming? With Mario, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash, Metroid, and the like already done before this summer, what besides more sequels does Nintendo have coming? Surfer girl mentioned a new IP coming, the question is what?
Also, what exactly will we see from t...
I looked these guys over before when they were just making the "kiddy games" but after Resistance, I picked up Ratchet and Clank, and man, its incredible. The quality of their games, made with only a two year production cycle, its just amazing. And is there ANY other developer out there who can so consistently get their games out on time like Insomniac?
Can't wait for new Resistance, new Ratchet, and the new IP!
It seems more likely for them to come over on xbox live arcade than in disc form.
Has anyone beaten them in the handheld market, ever?
This article seems very biased. It would be one thing to say the wii is winning, but the 360? Little things like comparing the core 360 to the core ps3 seem pretty ridiculous to me. It doesn't mention anywhere that xbox live is 40+ dollars a year, while the PSN is free, or any of the new psn updates (hooooome?!) that will come soon to change this around.
on a side note: I also find it funny that besides GTA, it doesn't mention any games at all.
I still don't get why they make communication so restricted. I know why they're doing it, but it still seems so backwards.
kind of like how a patch for ps3 orange box and lair came along shortly? Add-ons, and fixing-the-entire-game patches are way different. Fixing a big mess takes some time, it probably won't be done until after GTA launches.
What does that have to do with me? Just because I own a ps3 and like gameplay makes me a sony fanatic? Mass Effect was the best rpg of 2007, hands down, and I really look forward to Infinite Undiscovery.
I have no problems with Blue Dragon's graphics, personally. A good rpg is a good rpg no matter what it looks like. my problem with BD is that its nothing special, nothing new. When Sakaguchi made FF1, he was a visionary, but with this, he has become generic. Which, as I said e...
Disgaea has some of the best gameplay of any jrpg, period. If the generation-old graphics are what you don't like, then fine, but realize that gameplay is what most jrpg fans like. Graphics are good too, but not everything. By all means I'm not saying you're wrong, disgaea may not sell exceptionally well, and it may not be the end all be all game, but it plays like a good game should.
Since I'm talking about mediocre games with bad graphics, I'd like to add Mist of Chaos and V...
Its true that Sakaguchi created Final Fantasy. However, SE has some great talent, Yoshinori Kitase, Nomura, as well as freelance work by Amano and Uematsu for example. One man doesn't create the final fantasys of today, hundreds do. Sakaguchi isn't quite as ambitious with his new team yet, that's why he's stayed with the basics in his games so far and hasn't tried anything new. Cry On will rock, if it stops imitating and starts innovating.
There are a big pile of rpgs that we know are being worked on, but we have no idea when they are coming out, or any details on them whatsoever. Angel Rings, the new SMT ps3 project, Makai Wars, and there are a few others that have been hinted at like Suikoden 6, all are games we won't see until they want us to see them. It takes more time to make rpgs than other games because they are much longer than most games. Give it some time.
That list isn't as great as it sounds.
First of all, Dynasty Warriors is not an rpg. You may be thinking of Romance of the three kingdoms? Either way, not exclusive, nor is Last Remant, Fallout, Viking, argonauts and probably not tales.
The only jrpg exclusives I see here are LO and IU. LO has been hailed by all as pretty but mediocre, as was blue dragon. IU may turn out good, but I haven't seen enough of it yet.
I'm a big rpg fan, east and west, ...
"There are two important aspects of LBP. The first is to create, and the second is to play"
Get it right bud. There are three things, and in different order. Play, create, share! Oh man, it should be awesome.
Do we know when this is going to be released? Considering its already been out in the arcade a while, I hope it'll be sometime this summer, but my gamer sense tells me it'll get pushed to the fall like everything else. Going head to head with Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, and Mortal Kombat "8", and whatever else is coming around(non-fighters included), seems like a bad idea considering its already been out in Japanese arcades for a while.
You do realize that cost will go down, right? Its expensive to make blu-ray discs. Check amazon, the price of a single blu-ray disc is atleast 15 dollars (and even more for dual-layered discs). Sure, when produced in bulk for movies, they cost a lot less, but even if it costs 4 or 5 dollars to make them, that's a lot more than the pennies it costs to make dvd discs.
Now that Blu-ray is thee high def disc, that price will drop dramatically.
Oblivion installed 4.3 gig on my ps3? That's incredible, considering I didn't even notice!
First of all, its closer to 11 million than 8(sold NOT shipped). I do agree with you though, Sony has been a bit too ambitious with the ps3. "People will work harder to pay for a ps3" "people will buy it even without games" and ESPECIALLY their trojan horse tactics.but it is gaining a serious amount of momentum. With blu-ray, huge price reduction in component costs, and an unbelievable 2008 lineup, it looks really good right now.
