I still go back and play through all the MGS games once per year. MGS 4 had a lot of cut scenes but the gameplay and MGS 1 nostalgia were great - also OctoCamo!
The way Konami and Sony have treated MGS4 is criminal. We need a modern port or back compat with boosted framerate.
@crazy They do need to cater to the majority of their fans and 96-97% of their fans like “flat screen” games.
Even Rolex etc make sure they cater to the majority of their existing customer base.
“ The vast majority of gamers don’t want Microsoft buying 3rd party developers.”
Do they though? Have you surveyed them? Presumably at least Xbox fans and GP subscribers are for it - which means it’s statistically impossible for the vast majority to be against it.
“Xbox “gamers” are the ones that don’t want VR”
We know factually that around 96-97% of PS owners don’t care for VR.
“ You haven’t play FPS till you play th...
It is indeed part of the ecosystem - but a very small one.
The 96-97% of “regular” gamers shouldn’t be at a disadvantage because of the few people who buy PSVR.
There are around 150m PlayStation consoles out there. There are only a few million PSVR devices.
You have to cater to the majority.
“ Let them ignore the 4-5 million people who supported the venture all because it doesn't cater to Orchard and the other 97% of PS customers”
Fixed that for you. And yes, I think they should prioritize the ~150m PlayStation customers out there over the 4-5 million PSVR customers.
“ They have more games launching for the PS5 and VR than the handful of games mentioned by MS.”
Can you list these non-VR games? I must’ve missed them beca...
That’s been disappointing this gen all up. The lack of custom consoles alongside big game releases.
Obviously the earlier shortages would’ve affected it but I wonder if MS and Sony have basically given up on them now - having to set up custom manufacturing etc can’t have made them very cost effective / profitable.
You can’t bundle a game that isn’t out…
My guess is this is related to Forza Motorsport. We’ll probably get a new trailer and a date soon.
The reality is, there’s very little quality control on any of the platforms for third party.
Basically having an LLC and a one pager about what you’re planning to make is enough.
A good example of this was Abandoned… they ended up being a registered developer, had a store page and even managed to get a PS Blog post and well, look where that went.
And once your game is ready to go, cert just checks for platform violations and stability -...
@Baba Agreed but they can solve that by having more first party VR output.
Yes some people may buy the headset for PC and buy no Sony games, but the majority would likely buy at least 1-2 Sony games if they were compelling - and that’s likely enough to cover HW losses.
That being said, that isn’t really the case today - most PSVR games are third party.
Glad to see this is getting a physical release.
Loved playing through this, it was definitely one of the biggest surprises for me in 2022 - ended up being one of my favorite games from the year.
The medium isn’t made by Microsoft. Also I thought we now considered Bloober an awesome developer now that they’re making SH.
And you’ve played Starfield? What’s the res and framerate?
Good to know they have a final build they’re sharing though, the game must be on track for release then.
No jealousy here - if I wanted a PSVR2 I’d log onto PSDirect right now and buy one.
That’s the thing though, the vast majority of gamers aren’t hoping for VR on either platform.
I have - but I always found the input mechanisms and weird movement to be the thing that ruined the immersion really.
That plus the isolation (e.g. can’t sit on my couch with the wife and game) are the main put offs for me.
Starfield
Forza
Redfall
Stalker 2
Ark 2 (not really my thing but people seem to like it)
Those are confirmed ones, there’s rumors that Hellblade 2 is coming out this year too - but I’m skeptical on that one.
“ What is really curious is the fact that he neglected to mention PSVR2 and the 30+ titles announced for it.”
That’s great for free 3-4% of PS gamers who play VR. But it shouldn’t be at the expense of the rest of us. If they’re truly leaving us high and dry this year to focus on VR then that is pretty disappointing.
“ Forspoken and FF both are just preliminary examples of the inevitable SE acquisition to later be announced.”
The thing i...
I said in the other thread a day ago that ultimately I will end up with an Xbox before the end of this gen - but 2023 will not be that year. I don’t plan on buying any gaming hardware in the next year.
And yes, you’re right, a good amount of MS games were delayed into 2023, just like Sony games were delayed into 2022.
Seems like 2022 and 2023 are basically identical in how they play out, but with the roles switched for PS and Xbox.
At least my comments add something to the conversation 🤷
Unless Sony announce more games soon, Xbox has the upper hand in 2023.
PS5 is looking pretty bare so far with really just SM2, Forspoken (which looks bad) and FF.
Xbox will have Starfield, Redfall and Forza. Plus all the other games coming to GP day 1 like Stalker etc.
I fully expect Sony to announce more titles for the 2nd half of the year but at least the first half looks dry.
I suspect we’ll see more gameplay etc this E3, but I still remain skeptical that this will come out in 2023, probably a 2024 game.
