@Kornholic Yep, I don't deny that. I would love to stop buying COD for $70+ per year and just have it as part of my PC Game Pass subscription.
Also hoping for more investment in Crash amongst other IPs.
@MinuteMan I guess they wanted to be in that $200-300 range and considered $400 too high. $100 is a big difference for a lot of people.
@Darkrider "What the series s does is hold back every single game"
Has it though? Games like GoW and HFW are on PS4, which as we can see, even the highest end sku of the PS4 is worse than the S. Are you saying those games looked/ran bad or were held back? I disagree.
That plan sounds great if you ignore the fact that stores take returns...
If I bought a console and didn't like it, I would just return it.
Weird, they must be playing some pretty visually intensive games. And even then, S can play everything that runs on X.
Why didn't you return the console if you didn't like it?
If you watch the video, they address why they're comparing against PS4 Pro in the first minute.
Hard to call it a mistake if it's selling and the people buying it are enjoying their purchase.
UC1 looked great for its time, but UC2 was a huge leap, 2 to 3 felt less so of a leap. But the leap from 3 to 4 was insane (as expected with a generational jump).
Series S is the little machine that could.
Great machine for kids, casuals, low income folk, emulation or a 2nd room. Smart move given the current economy too.
I still think this will be the first Xbox I buy this generation, especially for emulation.
Sounds like pure speculation on your part because NVidia said nothing close to the words you’re putting in their mouth.
If they have an opposition to the acquisition then they should raise it ASAP - because the FTC is ready to come to a deal with MS and they don’t read between the lines.
And I never believe sources which cannot be named. They typically turn out incorrect.
“Nvidia stressed the need for equal and open access to game titles but didn’t directly oppose the acquisition”
Opposing it and saying open access is important are two very different things
Obviously that won’t happen. They want COD revenue, including that which comes from PS.
“according to people familiar with the matter” is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot.
According to people familiar with the matter, Microsoft are about to buy Sony, and then Apple is going to buy both of them. You heard it here first.
Meanwhile the article says Nvidia don't oppose it, and contains nothing from Google.
The good ol' reliable source "according to people familiar with the matter".
It's probably going through, given the FTC said they want to make concessions and don't want to goto court.
But it will go through with concessions, not without.
Okay that’s good context to have - I was basing it off of XB1X boot up times and hadn’t seen a XSX boot up time. Thanks!
The paragraph about being the first “carbon aware” console is interesting. So they’ll try to do powered down updates at off peak / when more renewable energy is available. Interesting.
So what’s the downside of shutdown vs sleep? It sounds like updates still work and the only difference is boot time?
They have a Nintendo direct style stream later in the month.
@Charlie Or those 'brain meltingly awesome games' will just run at a lower resolution and/or framerate on the S.
You know... like developers have been doing for decades on PC, and for around 7 years on console. Multiple SKUs is not anything new.
