I’m a developer - I’m aware of how designing a game for the specific hardware will help.
What I am saying is, it will also be balanced out by assets being bigger etc as we start getting “true” next gen games.
And we won’t get back to mechanical loading times obviously, but I expect those “true” next gen games to basically match current load times we see on PS5 or be a few seconds longer.
I think I would like if they added quick resume to be honest. It doesn’t have to replace SSD improvements - even Xbox is loading games substantially faster.
But quick resume let’s you jump straight in where you were so you can effectively just exit a game without having to find a checkpoint etc - or multitask games.
Different functionality and we can have both IMO.
It probably won’t change too much. It’s worth remembering that these are last gen games being loaded fast. When those real next gen games start getting made, they’ll have bigger assets etc so I’d expect load times to be roughly the same or a bit higher.
Still no where near last gen load times though - which is a massive improvement.
They really couldn’t have screwed up next gen upgrades on PS5 any more if they’re tried...
Amazon is sitting on 50k+ next gen consoles for a month? That seems very unlikely. Source?
Amen. If you have to justify your purchase like the above, you either aren't a gamer or probably shouldn't have bought the console.
@andy85
Pre-order does not mean it’s “available” lol - quite the opposite. Available is when I can either:
1. Walk into the store and buy it off the shelf readily (if stores are open)
And/or
2. I can order it online and have it shipped immediately / next business day.
As for “it’s been available since Monday” and is now magically going out of stock just as darth and myself try to access it - GAME’s and Twitter disagree...
Series X is available? please link me to the store. I want to buy one.
So how many shares do you hold in Nintendo and Sony?
How do sales decrease? Surely they have to stay the same or increase...
@MrSec84 That’s inaccurate.
If the developer and the publisher are two separate companies, the publisher contract signed by the developer will dictate what platforms they need to deliver on.
The contract between Sony/Microsoft and the developer/publisher doesn’t exist for a game unless the game is exclusive. Otherwise, the only contract signed in that case is an agreement which grants the developer access to confidential development resources and dev kits...
Source?

Getting great games at a decent price is way more important than any form of fanboy brand loyalty. I'd love for a PS Gamepass, lots of good exclusives to put in there.
So how many shares do you have in Sony? Otherwise, it's irrelevant to you who the market leader is.
Developers don't "sign a contract" stating they will bring the game to any platform - unless that game is exclusive. This game was never announced as an exclusive.
Even then, with exclusivity contracts, you can typically buy your way out (but I doubt MS would do that, it would be expensive).
No one just pushes large updates to production software/services... you test first with a small audience. Otherwise you risk taking down the entire service. That's literally the point of the insider program.
Haha maybe... the infamous dog part resulted in me not playing the game for about half of the initial rental before getting the courage as a kid to resume playing :P
I definitely appreciate the game (and the remake) more as an adult.
Good luck taking on & beating Steam.
@Anungunrama Yeah I dunno about the store. If the rumor is true, maybe they'd find a way to put PS1/2/3 games on the PS5 store? I haven't booted up my PS3 on forever, but I guess the PS3/Vita store must be pretty outdated by now compared to the PS4/5 store.
If they do implement back-compat though, they should make sure we can boot disks, I still have a LOT of PS1/2/3 games sitting around.
@kayoss There's definitely licensing requirements which...
Why would anyone even ask this question? The answer is 100% clear. Jim Ryan himself said it.
