@Thundercat "with the same exact problems that Xbox is facing"
That isn't how manufacturing works.
Just because Sony can make X million units in Y days, doesn't mean Microsoft, or Nvidia, or AMD can produce the same numbers in the same time for their consoles/GPUs/CPUs.
It's not like Playstations and Xboxes are sitting on shelves in mass - both companies are selling every unit they can produce, in minutes in most c...
"Also, can't use the "there is a pandemic" situation as the competition is selling better than its predecessor while in the middle of the same pandemic."
Except you can... because manufacturing exists, is impacted by the pandemic and the consoles are not identical, so just because company X can produce 10 mil in a month doesn't mean company Y can.
You summed it up well yourself on your other comment: "The pandemic is a rea...
Barely any noticeable difference. Honestly, this game/engine already looks great, the minimal improvements shown above aren't worth sacrificing a stable framerate for.
They would probably kill this program if they could without a PR nightmare.
It's been stale for a long time now - and it has only gotten worse as GP numbers grew.
RE engine continues to impress. RE7 looked great too - what they can pull off on last gen really is impressive.
Not just Xbox gamers - I use game pass on PC. If the rumors are true that it’s coming to Switch - I will use it there too.
And there is no denying that 18m+ subs in 3 years is impressive - people are clearly interested.
No one is claiming every game is available on game pass. Netflix doesn’t have every show and movie either but I still pay for it, as do millions of others.
I still buy some full price games - just less than before. That ...
It wasn’t even worth buying one during its life time... and most, if not all, of the good games it had have been ported to Switch.
Buy a Switch instead - it’s a far better console and you’ll have a lot more fun.
PS plus is XBL gold.
PS Now is currently the closest thing to game pass.
For example, games on PS plus/XBL gold are gone if you didn’t claim them, and if you did claim them, will never be rotated out like in game pass.
Clearly not. They aren’t even the same thing... one is an on going subscription service that is here for the long term - the other is free but is temporary due to COVID.
@purple101 Not sure I would say they “give you” 20 games. PS collection is different from play at home. One requires a subscription and one does not.
PS GamePass is clearly coming though - I expect an E3 reveal. PS Now isn’t even close to GamePass in terms of offering and value & has really struggled to take off / gain a foothold - so they will rework it into a new product. Watch this space.
And yet in the real world, gamers love it.
I’ve likely consumed close to $1000, if not more, in content this past year for what, $180? And that $180 includes PC, Xcloud and XBL gold too.
And with new games being $70, GP is an even better deal.
It only shows the PS4 tag on the digital deluxe edition - so I think it’s just the store being weird because technically some of the extra content is available on PS4 (like the avatars and soundtrack)
Standard edition still says PS5 only. Might still come to PS4 in the future though, who knows - it could obviously run scaled back on a PS4, and Unreal would make that pretty easy.
I’d agree with that analysis. 85-90 if reviewers are “fair”.
If they go for clickbait or find something to be vocal about, knocking 5 pts off that range seems likely.
@Thundercat “No wonder why Xbox tried to raise gamepass price.”
Did they? Source?
@Jin_Sakai 100% agree. It’s only a matter of time before there is a PS Gamepass, likely an E3 announcement - and it will be great.
I don’t think the embargo being close to release is an indicator of anything with this game.
While not really my kinda game, I expect this to be a good game and review well. And I think based on the previews, Sony and Housemarque can be confident in that being the result.
My prediction: 85-90 metacritic.
As a game dev... time to change job. Wonder if they’re hiring. I bet the perks are good.
@Razzer ND are a perfect example of devs who learned the PS3 hardware inside out and made the best looking games of the entire generation. Simply because the PS3 was a powerhouse if you could master it - and they did.
Devs who put the effort into PS3 yielded good results - the problem was a lot didn’t put the effort in or did cheap outsources for the PS3 version (e.g. the orange box).
Will devs be willing to put in the extra effort to max out the extra p...
@Razzer
“They even had different compilers.”
Different compilers doesn’t mean different code. It just means that code may be compiled into different processor instructions (and some intrinsics may differ). PS5 and XSX have different compilers but both compile C++ code. Syntax is the same for those consoles, but different libs and headers are available (also due to one being Windows based and one being FreeBSD).
The PPU code and SPU code...
@Jin_Sakai My local target has PS5 and no XSX - I'll trade you :P
