Finally, a game that will push the next gen consoles!
@IRetrouk Sort of. I'm guessing you're referring to the screen where it shows the game logo/splash for a few seconds before going black and onto where the intro videos etc would normally come, but for quick resume the game appears instead.
That is called game/title activation, which is basically the OS checking the packages integrity, validating your license for the game, etc before actually launching the executable. So not really load times for the game and is gene...
100%. Very excited to see what a fully next gen game can achieve with RE engine.
No load times on a quick resume, so we will spend 'more' (seconds, barely matters) of our life loading on PS5 than XSX as we complete the game.
Great point. This is probably the most mature content catalog we've had on a Nintendo console, and the best coverage with regards to 3rd party games.
They are selling well despite selling to more 'hardcore' gamers than casuals.
Be sure to let us know what you do with that extra 7 seconds of your life :p
Also since when was 3D audio exclusive to PS5?
@Nitrowolf2
1. There are no other real modes here. Just single player.
2. You can quick resume straight into gameplay, basically it picks up where you were - it doesn’t go through load screens, menus or boot up videos etc again
3. Capcom already stated that this game has no in-game loading on any platform, even last gen.
Granted, the gains differ depending on the game since some games may have in-game loads (although ...
Yeah… because Microsoft and Nintendo aren’t doing the same thing, only Sony /s
Frivolous lawsuit at best.
Huge milestone for the console. Glad to see them doing well after the WiiU.
What exactly is that meant to prove? Two sources got different frame times in the same game?
Welcome to games/software, they don’t run identical for everyone, every time.
Anyway, DF is out and shows the same.
The problem with comparing load times is those gains disappear quickly because on PS5 we will have to load every time where as XSX will load once and then quick resume, so 0s loads.
Sony needs to add quick resume - but after expandable storage please.
It still amazes me that Sony haven’t implemented a better solution here than developers having to implement it themselves and users having to upload and download in-game.
Easily solvable at the OS level - but that would require Sony to make cloud saves free…
Please show me where Sony said the hardware program is profitable.
They didn’t, they said profitable on a per unit basis.
It’s no secret or surprise to anyone that console hardware programs aren’t profitable.
You clearly lack basic understanding of business / this field, despite Sony themselves having said it. And court documents coming out this week showing MS and Sony taking a loss on HW overall while Nintendo makes profits.
...
@deathdeliverer
Being profitable per unit sold and being profitable across the entire program are two different things.
Profitable per unit = manufacturing costs less than what you sell it for
Profitable as a program = you have completely covered your up front costs, and any losses, and are now making profit on hardware alone/excluding software etc
Sony themselves said they got to being profitable PER UNIT. Those words are impo...
“For $300 you can play Halo, Forza and all the upcoming Zenimax games including Starfield”
Fixed it for ya.
@spss11 “ Series X games will have faster loading”
That makes no sense. It’s the same SSD, almost the same CPU (the XSS CPU is still faster than PS5…) and it is loading smaller textures etc - Series S will actually load faster than X and PS5 in some situations, or be similar in others.
But your point is also moot because you and I are not the target audience for S, the target audience likely doesn’t care about anti aliasing etc since they’re more casual g...
$200, heck even $100, is a lot of money for an entertainment product for a lot of people. Especially lower income families, people who lost their jobs during COVID, people buying for kids or people who only play a handful of games, etc.
A market exists for S and X - they are just targeting different types of gamer.
Except it does have games… and has more coming out this year.
“ I've got nothing that describes something so stupid.”
Well whatever it was, it worked - the console is sold out everywhere and people aren’t spending $500 on a gaming console to not play games.
It’s also not like we are swimming in PS5 exclusives either. We have like 3… it’s normal in the first year of a console - especially during a pandemic.
I love playing SMB… really hope they don’t ruin this developer / IP.
@IretroUK Agreed. That was sort of my point, comparing load times is weird because it will 'all come out in the wash' and is very situational.
If/when Sony does implement quick resume, the advantage is fully on the PS5's side. I'm still hoping they'll add that in at some point.
