Not sure I’d call a partnership “swooping in” on them. Totally different from buying them.
+1 Dishonored 2. It’s hard to enjoy it at 30fps after replaying the first at 60.
Pretty cool - impressive what they’ve been able to pull off without modifying game code.
@StoneyYoshi RE village demo quick resumes - so I don’t see why the final game wouldn’t. Any issues are on Microsoft’s side though - the developer doesn’t have to do anything beyond supporting normal suspend/resume.
3 seconds is still nothing. You can’t even read this sentence in 3 seconds. And like I said, by load 2, you’ve already broke even with Xbox, load 3 you’re actually losing time.
What can you do in 3 seconds anyway? I can’t even bring up the men...
@StoneyYoshi Developers don’t have to implement quick resume. It had some technical difficulties at launch which meant Microsoft forced some games not to quick resume, but that’s been resolved now.
If Xbox did get faster load times than PS5 that would atleast be headline worthy since you’d expect the faster SSD to be the best performing.
The fact remains, 3 seconds is nothing, 50% is irrelevant when 50% is a few seconds. Like I said, the minute you boot t...
Very fond memories of playing this as a kid on PC and OG Xbox and being blown away by it.
@SullysCigar Not just MS. That’s how corporations roll. Name me an honest gaming corporation (or any major corporation for that matter)... I’ll hold.
As long as it’s more like the earlier games...
Competitor analysis. This isn’t surprising - the same thing happens at Sony, Nintendo, EA, Activision etc.
@StoneyYoshi Lol, 3 v 6 seconds isn’t even worth mentioning. You can’t do much in 3 seconds.
@jznrpg The game only has load times on startup, not during gameplay, so it won’t stack like that.
Ironically, over time you would save more time on Xbox than PS because on PS you’re still going to be doing those 3 second loads - where as Xbox has quick resume... so 0 second loads after the first load.
Interesting. You’d think as the publisher they would be able to keep it in game pass though.
Lots of old FIFA games leaving just as FIFA 21 arrives. I assume the old ones stay in for ultimate subscribers via EA Play - if anyone cares.
Alan Wake leaving is kinda bizarre - don’t Microsoft own the rights + were the publisher?
I think we can trust Housemarque to have done that deep analysis before blaming their publishing partner Sony.
But it sounds more like it’s a problem with the PS5 OS or developer SDK - not the actual hardware (aka something they can fix via a system update, not by recalling hardware).
I’ve been trying to skip on all the demos & news to go in blind - but it’s becoming increasingly hard to resist with all the coverage.
Not a huge surprise - it's pretty rare to see a pachinko machine at E3.
Being the industry leader doesn't mean you don't have to compete with others. Don't compete and you won't be the leader for long.
Glad to see the entire industry thriving. This pandemic sucks for sure, but there is no arguing that it has been good for games companies.
I didn't author the article. You should take it up with IGN :)
I'm glad they didn't. The game looks and runs great on PS4/XB1. Cyberpunk it is not.
Is it though? You have zero control over the company, don't get their revenue, and nothing stops them from pulling the partnership in the future or providing the same functionality on other platforms (which obviously they will).
