Mirror's Edge almost exclusively uses pre-baked shadows, so it's not exactly a technical marvel.

Still, this comparison should really only include engines that are licensed to other developers. Sure Uncharted 2 may look better than everything on consoles, but Naughty Dog does not license the engine.

The amount of support Epic has to provide for developers is staggering. Naughty Dog and other exclusive developers simply do not have the time or resourc...

They don't just suck at the PC, they suck at every platform. Sure GTA IV LOOKED great on the PS3 and 360, but they both suffered from a terrible frame rate. Every game play video I've seen of Red Dead Redemption looks as though it has the same problem, although I hope that is not the case.

The PS3 would have never been able to run PC games in Linux. Valve likely won't support any PowerPC distros of Linux. Even if they did, hypervisor locks RSX and its memory leaving you with only 256MB of system RAM.

You have to be kidding. I can't wait to hear what Wii game from 2009 was better than Uncharted 2.

It will take a lot longer than a year for HTML5 to become the new standard.

Both the 360 and PS3 have failed on me twice. :(

I prefer the PS3 but its mainly due to its non-gaming functionality. I usually play console games alone so I don't really get the full benefit of Xbox Live. While Live may be better than PSN in some ways, almost all of my friends game exclusively on Steam, so I very rarely get to take advantage of the features that aren't available on PSN.

I think both consoles are great and any true gamer should play on every availab...

Then why does Gears of War 2 pause your music while loading? I hate to tell you but it is merely a feature Microsoft requires all games to support. How else would the games know to stop the default in-game music when the user selects their own tracks? Sure the music playback might fit into the OS memory footprint (it easily could on the PS3 as well) but the games have to be designed to allow for the music to be played.

The politics of gaming was alive and well during the Dreamcast era. Do you not remember the Dreamcast vs PS2 discussions? Before that it was N64 vs PS1, Jaguar vs 3DO, SNES vs Genesis, NES vs Master System, etc.

The internet certainly made the fanboy wars more obvious and annoying though.

The last physical release I purchased for PC was in 2007.

Even though Avatar's story was extremely generic, I ended up purchasing it on Blu-ray due to the fantastic effects. I'm definitely glad The Hurt Locker beat out Avatar for best picture at the Academy Awards.

You're nuts; Shenmue on a Dreamcast with a VGA box looks fantastic in 480p considering how old the game is. It looks better than any PS2 that was out at the time.

Modern Warfare 2 has sold approximately 10.5 million copies on the 360 and 7.7 million copies on the PS3. That is a far cry from your claim of selling twice as many copies.

Honestly though, the PS3 and 360 install bases are getting to the point where it doesn't make a lot of sense to exclude development on either platform. The Wii is a different beast though since it's hardware is so far behind the PS3 and 360, which are both pretty similar.

Even though Avatar's story is extremely generic, I purchased the Blu-ray due to the fantastic effects and vibrant colors. This movie is definitely one that really showcases the benefits of Blu-ray over DVD.

If you're so eager for a hardware upgrade why don't you just start playing games on the PC? I play on both consoles and the PC and I'm not ready for a PS3 / 360 successor.

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood doesn't look quite as good as Crysis on the highest settings, but it runs A LOT better. I mean, you can max Call of Juarez and average 60fps even on an old 8800GTX. You can't max Crysis and get 60fps on a GTX 480 or a Radeon 5870.

I'm pretty sure Metacritic changed their policy a few months ago regarding user reviews. User review scores are no longer displayed prior to the release date of the game. That means these scores have to be pretty old. Most of them were probably submitted right around the time the PC version got canceled.

Honestly though, who really cares. If fanboys or a few disgruntled PC gamers voting a game down on Metacritic bothers you or sways your opinion of a game, some serious self-eval...

The difference between Kotick and Greenberg is that Greenberg may hate the PS3 and Sony, but he doesn't hate the people that own it. Kotick hates all gamers as well as developers. His only goal is to sell the lowest quality products for the highest price possible.

Wipeout HD runs in 30fps when doing 2 player split-screen and the difference is HUGE. I feel like it's basically unplayable in comparison to the super smooth single player mode. I'd rather play it at 60fps than get the novelty of 3D with only 30fps.

Where did you get the other $1000? The G73 line has some pretty awesome gaming laptops. The cheapest model I've seen is available at Best Buy for $1200. Sure the Mobility Radeon 5870 is only half as fast as a real 5870, but for a laptop it is still pretty amazing.

I'm sure Sony is already aware of the fact that this was not a case of actual hacking. No self respecting company like Sony, Microsoft, or Valve would attempt to blame or humiliate one of their customers that has become a victim of phishing.
