Funny thing happened to me. I made it to the protect the tank level on veteran, then after countless deaths and about 45 frustrating minutes later beat it, and for whatever reason didn't get the achievement. Does the game automatically change levels once you die a certain number of times, or did I just get shafted?
Johnny Mccasual gamer also isn't going to have anywhere near the amount of files on his ps3 to even care about the mandatory install issue either. So he wouldn't have to upgrade his hd in the first place.
I'm far from a casual gamer, and use my ps3 all the time. I've never come even close to using up all of the space on my 60 gig. Other than the slight nuisance of occasionally having to sit though a 5-10 minute install when first playing a game, the mandatory install is a total...
Yea same here.. this is a little late since i'll be playing the full version tomorow.
From what I've read he finances them with his own money, so no ones really "allowing" him to do anything. He's doing it himself, which in a way makes it even more pathetic since he must lose money constantly.
An 8 became bad when fanboy bickering about "true aaa" imposed a completely random and idiotic mantra that anything under a 9.0 isn't worth mentioning as a top title.
Whatever, I've yet to play a 3d action game with a perfect camera, and the "old school" gaming feel that they complain about was one of the things I love about ninja gaiden, same goes for the difficulty level. The reviews for this are lower than I expected, but the reasons given for the low scores are things I either actually like or don't care about.
Same here, I've been a gamer since the 8 bit days. I strayed from consoles last gen and was more of a pc gamer. But this generation's consoles have been the best ever.
Exactly, all of the sudden when its a 360 game, an 8.3 is "just under the 9" when uncharted 89.8 wasn't good enough.
Funny part is ngII is basically a critic proof game for me, as long as it lives up to the first its a day 1 purchase for me. I just like seeing a fanboy hypocrite like mart exposed.
There have been plenty of 9's and 10's this gen. Gears, halo3, uncharted, mario galaxy, ratchet, bioshock, mgs4, cod4, zelda, gta4 and plenty of others have gotten 9s and 10s. This gen's games have been great imo. and the 360/ps3/wii gen is shaping up to be way better than the gamecube/ps2/xbox gen.
Why the comparisons to haze? That has nothing to do w/this story or this game. Such a one track mind.
The only other game the op mentioned was mgs4, and for some mysterious reason I don't see you rushing to compare ngII's reviews with mgs4's reviews.
Who cares about this arbitrary 90% and up above requirement for "AAA" games. N4g is the only place i've ever seen that, and it was started by fanboy hacks looking for any ammo they could find to bash the ps3. It seems so completely random.. why not have 95% and up be "true" aaa, or 92.3 and up, or any other random number.
As for mgs4 being the "first aaa" game for ps3, you're telling me because uncharted got an 89.8, and ratchet got an 88.5, that tho...
Disappointing preview. I don't mind the star wars characters though, so long as they're balanced, and I can't wait to see the star destroyer level.
The slow sidestepping worries me though, as well as the lesser intuitive controls. The better mobility and fluid controls and combos were what set sc apart from tekken and made it the better series imo. The guard impact system from sc3 was basically perfect and really should have just been left alone.. knocking your opponent to the...
"BG&E is one of the most overrated, underrated games ever made."
Thats a perfect way to put it. Its basically famous for being underrated and not selling a lot of copies.
ffXII had a much better combat system and slightly better graphics. but imo it was lacking in the plot and characters department, and so ffx gets the edge.
The only character I actually liked in xii was balthier, and he was mostly ignored. The story in xii started off good but kind of tapered off. While both ffx and xii had pretty weak main characters, tidus at least had an actual personality, vaan was just there. The supporting cast of wakka, lulu, auron etc in x though were wa...
madden 05 remade that series and deserves to be on that list. the defensive ai was the best of any sports game. the step up from 04 to 05 was huge, but sadly they haven't really improved the game that much since them.
Kind of a strange list, especially with ddr and ssx.
mgs3 would be no 1 on my list. How they picked mgs2 over the far superior mgs3 is beyond me. and gow > everything else on that list.
I'd roll with
1. mgs3
2. gow
3. ico
4. ffx
5. gta san andreas
6. grand tourismo 3
7. dmc3
8. re4
9. madden 05
10. gowII
Sick match, great game. It does have online play right?
I hope this game is more akin to the sands of time, and ditches the stupid and generic "edgy" darker theme that ruined the sequel.
Stupid decision.. I never had an xbox so I never played the original, and the ngs demo was the only reason why I bought it for the ps3. I played the demo and was hooked.
It might have been the same for 360 owners who didn't have an xbox and don't know how awesome the series really is.
@1.3
I agree with the headset thing, and your point about the community is true also. If sony really wants home to work, they're going to have to do something about the headsets. They should have just packed a cheap one in the box like the 360 did, but now its too late. the only solution would be more games like warhawk that include a headset. Giving them out with resistance 2 would be a great idea, since its the ps3's biggest/best online franchise.
