What do you guys consider cheating? I found that cheating wasn't really that common in 08. I've played about 150 online games this year and out of that I've run into cheating maybe 10 to 15 times. Thats a pretty good ratio imo. Do you mean guys who like to run the same plays over and over to exploit certain defenses? I don't consider that cheating b/c the beauty of madden is that there is always a defense that can counter just about ever play, even the nano blitzing everyone complains about. ...
Not to start a flamewar here (i own and love both consoles) but the 360 version of 08 was pretty good. Actually the 360 getting the superior version of madden was one of the reasons I got a 360 last summer. So maybe ea will straighten its stuff out this year and both versions will be equal and 09 will be worth a purchase for the ps3.
I liked the first movie a lot. It wasn't perfect but it did the game justice. The effects, especially the transition to the dark realm and the ending were good. The blu-ray transition looked great also. And the pyramid head scenes were top notch.
It could have used some heavy editing though. All of the scenes with the husband slowed the movie down and I thought they could have been cut out entirely to make the movie better. The ending was great though.
If they're truly identical i'll be going with the ps3 version. Vader + the better d pad for fighting games. I just hope psn provides good gameplay online. If the online play is as smooth as resistance and warhawk I'll have a hard time putting this game down.
Yea I agree with 8.1. That "go play a real instrument" crap makes no sense. I personally dont like the games, but I know people who play them don't actually think they're being real musicians. They're just playing a game they think is fun. I like cod4 and madden, but that doesn't mean I think i'm an actual marine or an nfl player. Its no different for the rockband/guitar hero players.
I'm not into those rock band/guitar hero games, and call me a hater, but I agree gtp was a glorified demo and a way for sony to milk their die hard fans. DMC4 was also a huge let down, since about halfway through they run out of ideas and just make you play the same game again backwards.
Still, we got mgs4, which I think is the greatest game ever made. ng2, which is a solid action game, and gta4 while overhyped was also good. I'd say thats not a bad first half.
I didn't own the original xbox, so I didn't play it either. It got an 85% review average, so I'd say that's pretty good. I might pick up the sequel, other than mass effect its been a while since a good rpg has come out.

I'm a big fan of both gears and mgs, so I was initially going to just leave this thread alone, but with all the untrue crap about the cut scenes in mgs4 being spread I'm going to have to call bs on your claim of 80 minutes of cut scenes before the raging raven fight. First off there isn't a single cut scene in the game (including the ending) that lasts 80 minutes. Second, right before the fight with raven is the chase scene with eva that seamlessly blends shooting with cinematic camera angles...
Great article, it has me even more hyped for geow2. The textures alone in the comparison shots show a marked improvement in the visuals. The multiplayer sounds great too, the variation on capture the flag w/ a live flag is brilliant and totally fits epic's dev style. This'll be a day one purchase (of course) come nov.

Yea, you are annoying man. So resistance 2 looks the same as resistance 1? So the whole 8 play co-op, separate online and offline campaigns, expanded online multiplayer, new vehicles, new enemy types, new weapons all new plot developments and narration style are the same right? And as for your lame ass "same game new, locations comment" you can say the same thing about gears 2 and fable 2 and basically any sequel if you wanted to be an idiot about it.

The only character ms could put into play on krato's level would be the chief, armed with an energy sword. Even then, still wouldn't be as cool as kratos
Marvel vs Capcom was an entire series based on getting random diverse characters and throwing them into the mix with the fighting engine. Many fans say its one of the best 2d fighters ever. So it can be done as long as the core gameplay is the real focus.
Kratos is an awesome addition if true, and i'm definitely getting the ps3 version if he's included.
I've been a gamer for 17 years. Going back to the nes. After finishing it, I can say without even a hint of a doubt that mgs4 is the best game I've ever played,by far. Kojima and his staff deserve every bit of the success they're getting.
I agree w/ silogon (also, for once) those "teaser" trailers are just that, huge teases. It'll just be the gow theme, maybe a high res close up cgi shot of kratos (if that) with the three roman numerals and a vague non-specific date like "spring of 2009" so they can push it back if need be. Similar to that first dark knight teaser trailer where it was just voices and a joker card with nothing else.

Thats a weird year to give up on the franchise. madden 05 was a high point in the series thats when they took the defensive ai to the next level. Anyway the second poster is right, the first two next gen maddens were really bad, but 08 is good.
