I agree, SC is head and shoulders above tekken, virtua fighter, doa etc. Its been the best fighting game around since the dreamcast days.
Yea, I totally agree that its not a true fps. Bioshock is more like an rpg that just so happens to have a fps combat system. Its an amazing game, and the best game of this current gen imo. It was one of the main reasons why I picked up a 360, and I'm glad those who only have a ps3 will be able to enjoy it too. Truly a must play for any gamer who wants a good plot to go along with great graphics and tight innovative gameplay.
Every ps3 exclusive? I don't think so. Uncharted was a great game, and my no. 2 game of 2007 (after bioshock). Heavenly sword wasn't great, but it was above average and set a new bar for cut scenes. Theres also resistance and motostorm. and while its timed, ut4 is still ps3 exclusive. And then theres mgs4 next month. Sony could do better on the exclusives yea, but saying they've all been mediocre at best isn't right either.
I thought the list was spot on for the most part. DMC4 is basically half a game, played twice. Yes, the first half was really good, but playing the same exact levels with the same exact bosses for the entire second half is just lazy.
Assassin's creed doesn't belong on the list though. Its a good but not great game, and was just a victim of its own hype. Saying it was one of 2007's best games is a huge stretch though.
Wouldn't you feel more at home in the open zone?
I agree 100%, the chimera weapons were what set resistance apart and changed it from "good" to "great". The bullseye and hedgehog grenades were great. You know with their history of creative weapons that insomniac will always bring new and fun elements to the gunplay.
The most telling thing about this thread and others like it is that the people who make the biggest deal about these hd installs are the non-ps3 owners. I have a launch 60 gig and hd space has NEVER been a problem for me, I haven't even had to so much as erase an older install from a game I don't play anymore. For the vast majority of ps3 owners, hd space is simply a non issue. It only becomes an issue when fanboys start looking for a reason to nitpick.
Anyone who calls quake IV a "spraying noobfest" is clearly a "noob" themselves, with no idea how to actually play the game. All other things being equal, the smarter, more tactical player will always win in quake, just like in cs or cod4. The only difference is that quake is faster, and you can't make a living off of camping like you can in cs and cod4.
haha yea knowing the wii crowd they'll just play the forklift minigame over and over and ignore the rest of the game. You know how they're all about minigames
Whatever you say pog. I'll be looking for that "common sense deprived of seneless bias" in your posts in the ps3 threads also. I'm sure you'll be just as fair minded there as you are in the 360 threads
Have to agree with pog (for once). 8 player co-op in gears would be a mess, even with the bigger areas. Just picture 8 players all trying to grab cover in the same area. For a fps, the more the better, but 4 players seems much better suited to gears type of play.
enya should be the final boss of rock band
please tell me that was sarcasm
No widescreen is a dealbreaker for me. If i'm going to buy a remake of a classic game, I want at least a little graphics overhaul, some new content and widescreen to go with it. Guess I'll just wait for sc4.
I own both, and I go the other way. I prefer the ps3 from a hardware perspective, but I get more out of my 360. The ps3 is just a better higher quality machine capable of doing more and better things than the 360, and I love the blu ray player. Also, some great exclusives are on the way starting with mgs4 next month.
But at the same time I have to say I've used my 360 way more, and have had more fun playing it. The games (right now) are better, x-box live while not free is dirt ...
Worst list of this kind i've ever seen. Forget about ffx not deserving to be on the list, ff x-2 is the worst in the series by far. It shouldn't even be in the top 100 much less top 10.
If you're going to put a halo on there halo 1 is the the best in the series and way better than 3. MK 2 was also far better than MK 1, Metal gear solid and mgs3 were also both better than the first metal gear. And not a single classic mario platformer on the list? wtf were they smoking?
As far as platformers go i'd say mario 3 is still the best ever. My top 5 would be
1. smb3
2. sonic 2
3. yoshi's island
4. mario galaxy
5. mario 64
Yea I found the foliage system horrible and distracting, it was like playing in a completely frozen environment. Everything was static, and NOTHING moved at all other than the characters. After the great environmental physics in games like cod4, bioshock and drake its hard to put up with completely lackluster crap like we see in the haze demo. Even halo's outdoor scenes had more life.
I'm taking this as a sign then that the actual final game looks a lot better than that demo. Because I really wasn't impressed at all. As far as fps games go timeshift demo was better than the haze demo imo.
Have you read the previews for this game? You know the ones that say that stealth is no longer required, the camera system is completely revamped, the game mechanics change on the fly depending on what part you're on, the cammo system has changed, the weapons selection has changed, the recon system has changed.. not to mention new bosses, new environments, next gen graphics and new online play? How is that not enough change for you? Would you rather they made mgs4 into a turn based rpg? would...
