This academic paper proves nothing but a correlation between the playing of violent video games and lower scores in a morality test.
It does nothing to account for the possibility of reverse causality (bad parents who might neglect to pass on any morals to their kids are probably more likely to buy them GTA or CoD, which 15 and 35 of the 109 13-14yo kids played respectively) and even admits that further research must be done.
Furthermore, this paper doesn't even bother to ...

Wha???

If the point of a game is to have fun, then surely the most fun game is the best, in that it is fulfilling its role most effectively?

I mean, if not for fun, why else would you play a game?

Unless you mean it is the most fun but it doesn't really have enough Assassin elements in to be considered and AC game?

Disrespect Hayter by hiring a real actor to take his place, seeing as the game is using facial mo-cap?
Sorry I don't see a problem with that. I actually want Big Boss to act believable, so that the custcenes appear to be of AAA quality, and not like they're from some dodgy B-movie.

Indeed it is.

It's a rip-off like justa about every work of subsequent high fantasy ripped off The Lord of the Rings.
Or how every FPS was a "rip-off" of Wolfenstein 3D. And Terraria+Starbound completely ripped off Minecraft.

The thing is though, it's not a "rip-off" if you do something to develop it. Crea is ripping off Starbound because it was announced several months later and is almost exactly the same.

Because they're usually spot on. There was a time when I didn't care about them, but when I started paying more attention to them, I began enjoying the games I bought more.

Romances are great in Bioware games and add tremendous depth.

As for the homosexuality, I'm all for having one major character and maybe a side character who are romanceable for each gender, but it's important to note that only around 1 in 20 people are homosexual IRL, so making the number of options equal for both genders wouldn't be realistic, and I'd actually argue that it would be unfair on heterosexual players.

Skyrim cost $50 at launch. TES:O costs $15 a month plus that. I just don't see how Zenimax Online can add a Skyrim-level amount of content every three months, which is why it's bad value for money.

A $5 a month subscription fee seems more reasonable for modern games, assuming no microtransactions, but make no mistake, they don't use the extra money to add content.

Well...nine fanboys disagree with you (as of the time I posted this comment).

So stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

(The only time Xbox and Playstation fanboys unite is when PC gamers give them the honest truth XD )

As I said, now is the time to wait for Valve to open the gates for Steam Machines.

We've already seen multiple second half of 2014 release dates announced, and iBuyPower is ready to launch when Valve give the go ahead (when their controller is finalised).

Indeed SteamOS is Linux-based, which means older games are going to be harder to get working, but most console gamers thinking of transitioning (the target of my article) would find themselves only buyin...

Well, I have a gaming PC, but I'd actually recommend people looking to buy a next-gen console wait until the first Steam Machines are released.
For one thing, most of the next-gen-only games won't come out until at least then, and it'll also be worth seeing how SteamOS turns out by then (in terms of support, features etc.)
Many people are questioning where Steam Machines fit in, and the answer is "as the next generation console variant of a PC".
A...

Yes, half of gamers (roughly are women), but the vast majority of these play casual games. A more useful measure would be the demographics of how many women play console or PC games (excluding Nintendo Wii) and then also multiplying this by the average amount of money they spend (given we live in a fair, capitalist society - committed gamers spend more money on their games).

Also, while I do accept the argument about "fitting the setting", this only really applies t...

Why not 70%? 90%? 100%? Look, I've given you a rational formula founded on logic for calculating how this should work.

It is not "ancient thinking" to want to play someone like yourself but a natural emotion. I mean what next, are you going to say sex is "ancient thinking" and these days we should all abstain? I mean it is, but it is also part of our human nature.

I'd actually say the real problem is vocal minorities like yourself ...

Maybe because people don't want things to change. I certainly don't - I think the current situation is quite fair. And no you're very wrong here, and provide no basis for your answer.

Everyone wants to play a game with a character they can relate to, ideally the same gender, nationality, race, hair colour etc. No, this isn't hateful, but just a simple psychological trait we hold. Women want to play as women, as they relate better, and men want to play men for ...

Those people need to get off their high horses and realise that more often than not, they're preaching to the choir.

Generally, the demographic of the main protagonists will reflect te demographics of the user base, which is natural, given we generally all want to play someone who lo...

Undoubtedly. People just aren't willing to fork out monthly subscription payments any more for online play. The market has changed, and I expect this game to do far better when it inevitably goes F2P.
