Yet another great game ruined by its DRM and server issues. Nobody ever seems to learn.
Gamergate is just a hashtag.
Progressive authoritarianism is a political phenomenon which has risen along with the internet (echo chambers like Tumblr) taking advantage of prior good will from when it was actually a good cause.
This is a sociopolitical struggle which unites libertarians, liberals (the genuine liberals who want more rights; not progressives who want to sculpt society to how they see fit) and conservatives, and it's a lot bigger than GamerG...
They have to eat.
And to be honest, W3 base game plus the free DLC is excellent value anyway.
If they don't charge for stuff like this, we don't get it, because they bleed money making it.
Wow. I thought this was satire at first.
Yes, I think we are "ready" for a protagonist with a condition which affects 0.01% of the population. Perhaps we need a Down's Syndrome protagonist next? And then one with dwarfism. /s
And here was me thinking that video games were both entertainment and art, and not just vehicles to promote causes.
To be honest, there are more absolute morons in the world who write articles like this tha...
Better they spend the time fleshing out companions!
Some of the companion mods for Skyrim are great, so I'm sure Bethesda could do an exceptional job implementing their own great characters into the game.
Polygon was the example given. That site has a bad reputation anyway. I doubt they'll bother to change their practices.
I'd say it's worth starting with the remake of IV, as it has reasonable graphics (in some ways better than VII), and is where the series really gets good.
Also, VI is one of the best, and is very playable in its timeless 2D graphics.
THEN VII, VIII (if liked VII), IX (if didn't like VII) and X
Add to that the lack of mods, and the fact that companies can watch how you play.
Do I want people to have my name linked to "evil" choices in Mass Effect? And this is going to get worse with VR, when we would feel constantly watched.
Indeed. For one thing, it prevents modding, so I'm not even sure if I would want a digital subscription to become the sole method.
That would be quite funny. Why don't feminists do that rather than ruining everyone else's light-hearted fun?
I think the point is that it's mocking those fools who get offended by everything that moves. Those people need to be brought down to Earth.
Lionhead are cowards to back down in the fa e of stupidity. Shameful, utter cowards.
That was before two things happened.
Firstly we had the phenomenal success of the Nintendo Wii, which had Sony and Microsoft realise that they needed to innovate to win customers.
Secondly we had the "PC Renaissance", which ultimately led to the Oculus Rift, developed by "some guy" getting funded. Nintendo used to be great innovators when it was a battle of the giants, but now we have innovation coming from the ground up, and they are a bi...
Wait, Bannerlord is actually being released at some point? Incredible news.
You could say that Metal Gear Solid was never about the graphics, but that wouldn't stop you being annoyed if MGS5 looks like MGS2.
I love good gameplay too, but there's a reason I forked out for my R9 290X.
Capitalism means that companies which shut down bad studios succeed, and those which shut down good studios succeed.
EA aren't good at capitalism, as capitalism is a system which gives people what they want, and this is clearly not what they are doing. Thus, we can expect EA to see its profit margins fall as nobody buys their flawed games.
Sick of socialists trying to blame bad business practices on "capitalism". It's almost like blaming mur...
That's the thing. AAA games have become so risk-averse that they fail to innovate. Why hasn't any major studio tried to do a big budget Mount & Blade? Why are Ubisoft pumping out the same stuff every year? Why did AAA studios miss the opportunity to do State of Decay themselves with better graphics? Why has nobody made a great successor to Sid Meier's pirates?
AAA games are stale, and they need to try new things.
@Septic
Yes, that is because it is aimed at men. Women are no more the target of this than adult men are the target of My Little Pony. Women can enjoy it of course, but they have to accept it for what it is.
Men like sexualised women. I don't see a problem, as this very fact is what has kept our species alive to this date.
If games journalists want to stop being hated by everyone beyond university feminist clubs, they should really cut this **** out. Perhaps being a little less pig-headed about their arbitrary moral convictions would help them to see things from a different point of view for a change.
DoA *is* a sexualised game. That is what it is, and women are no more the target of this game than men were the target of Magic Mike.
It's not a game I'm interested in bec...
Of course resolution is important. I have a 1440p PC monitor, and everything running native looks gorgeous, while games which do not look somewhat blurred.
I can imagine the same applies to console users who are sometimes forced to deal with sub-1080p by companies which don't put enough effort into optimising their games.
Unnecessary article really (albeit true).
We don't need to justify ourselves to idiots trying their hand at sociopolitical philosophy who learned everything they know from other fools on Tumblr. If you get down to the very root of their beliefs, most of them think it's sexist to flirt with some people and not others (which makes everyone in the world except them and their egos a rampant sexist). Many hold the views they do because they want to be liked (and are too co...
