Well you're in luck, because given Bioware's trend, this game will be 100% gay characters, so that those cis scum who make up 97% of the world's population can be represented fairly.
Hang on...
These days:
Left-wing = fascism
Right-wing = freedom
This goes right down to ideological fundamentals, where the former think that people cannot help themselves and need to be controlled "for their own good", while the latter feel that people should have the tools to help themselves and the freedom to do what they want with them.
Of course both are biased towards their own ends, but it's clear which one is more ...
Rigt, because "social justice" for pixellated video game characters is sucha better use of time.
Yes, this whole debate is dumb, but let us not forget who started it: "progressives" who arrogantly think their idea of progress is superior to that of everyone else.
SJWs = fascists
Gamergate = anti-SJW = anti-fascist
Why do you hate freedom so much? Now this is the sort of logic GG would be using if they stooped to the levels of their opponents.
And your final argument applies to both sides. Anita Sarkeesian has better ways to spend her time surely, than criticising video games!? The fact is that the anti-GG crowd has opted to highlight a minority of abusive trolls and slander Gamergate as a hateful campaign, dri...
Wow so much ignorance.
Firstly, the Tories have been better for the gaming industry than Labour, giving it tax breaks, and not banning violent games like manhunt.
Secondly, they've struck a pretty balanced line their whole time in government.
But you're probably one of those angry sixteen year old "class-warfare" types, so for you, the only good Tory is a dead tory. I would suggest you calm down, and read up on the concept o...
If you want to see a score which counts, look at the user scores on metacritic, or the most liked reviews on Steam (for PC).
The problem with scores are that they see publishers forcing devs to achieve high ratings above the satisfaction of their customers.
We see games made to please the press, and not to please the audience, and this has to stop.
They missed out Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires, and Total War: Attila.
I would say that 3:8 female:male is a pretty accurate representation of the audience for this type of game.
That's why so few characters are female. It's the only fair way to divide the characters.
That's assuming they want fairness. Game designers are within their rights to do whatever they want, as sexist as it may be.
OMG unrealistic standards and sexism!!! Why isn't this game banned? Let's start a Change.org campaign to get it banned!
Women like looking at chiseled men with perfect faces in various states of undress, and I have no problem with that (do any of us?).
This is what a game made for women looks like folks, and is a perfect example of why it is not sexist to portray genders differently if you're targeting a very specific audience.
Wo...
"allowed to still exist": what do you propose, a ban?
These sort of games are not aimed at women (there are games specifically aimed at women out there, especially in Japan), so they are (like most porn) directly aimed at people who are attracted to women.
Thus, the only logical justification for your beliefs is that you simply feel that men are "dirty" and moral "sinners" for enjoying the female form in their fantasies, and must...
Or the flattery aimed at Steam has been advised by the Windows 10 team, in order to woo Valve into ending their SteamOS project (after all, it was the perceived hostility towards Steam in Windows 8 which made Valve consider their own OS to begin with).
@vallencer
I agree with you in spirit, but what's to stop a group of second-rate men pretending to identify for the tournament?
And as 80%+ of "hardcore" gamers are men, I expect there will be a few who will do just that for the money.
Plus, as around 3% of the population are LGBT, so it would be surprising if a team even managed to recruit a single one.
I totally agree, but to be honest, I don't really care.
Not only is it not my business as an Englishman to criticise Filipino society (I mean it's a little ethnocentric, no?), but in the grand scheme of things, this is not very important.
But it is very, very odd.
Perhaps this has been going on for longer, but I expect that with recent events it will have become worse.
It's not that having a natural preference is a bad thing, but consciously fighting it or limiting it (either way) defeats the point of entertainment.
I think things would have been better if the people who did want to persuade more people to play female characters took a more diplomatic approach. They might actually have succeeded in persuading peopl...
Nobody would be complaining about character genders if Sarkeesian and her game journalist allies hadn't polarised the gaming community into two factions with their "critique".
I know a few people who were quite open to diverse protagonists before becoming less so in just the past year as a protest against feminist influence on gaming,
It's a shame that people even need to justify why gender itself doesn't define a story.
Most of the players are white and male.
Diversity is fine though if there is demand for it. Let sales figures and data do the talking when it comes to such decisions.
Of course, we have to remember that games are also art, and we shouldn't attack an artist for creating what they want to create (we can personally disagree with message the work, but not its existence).
I personally prefer playing British white male protagonists with light b...
Her critiques suffer from deep-rooted confirmation bias (I could critique a sponge as she critiques games) and pretend that economics doesn't exist.
She has a right to create her trash, but we have an equally important right to call a spade a spade, and its creator an idiot.
If she wanted to get us thinking more (rather than spread her flawed ideology), she would take more balanced, philosophical stances. She would question her own conclusions as much as ...
I agree that boob windows are stupid for Orcs (which are supposed to be a very materialistic and practical species).
Though for more graceful variants of Mer, they are quite suitable (along with pristine armour).
Though sadly I feel there would be opposition even in the latter scenario. This is because much of the opposition to skimpy armour is voiced by feminists who think that male wishes should not be catered to because they feel that they are "stupid...
