PS1 games came on CD which could hold up to 650MB and games like Final Fantasy series (ie. 7, 8 and 9) took four disks so games like this would be approximately 2GB (FF7 is 1.37GB) so say Sony is going to put twenty games on the PS1 mini then they would need 16GB to 32GB of storage.
The problem Sony would have is what games to put on it and if they would allow additional games via a memory card.
Of course, since Sony is a business they would want to make...
Well, they do have Gears, Halo and Forza ( 😴 ) and now they have "Cuphead" which is a 2D sidescroller which will look really good on a 4K TV. /S 😎
If you like racing games then fine but be aware that genre has pretty much the lowest preference (3.3%) out of all the main genres with shooters (27.5%) topping the list. https://www.statista.com/st... (US Market).
Obviously, that will change worldwide but the USA gaming market is massive and a good indicator.
Having UHD Bluray player does not improve games and that is what a games console is for unless Microsoft has just done a backflip to their TV, TV, TV .... XB1 launch https://www.youtube.com/wat... Actually the company that benefits the most from the XB1s and XB1x having a UHD Bluray player is Sony.
Grand Theft Auto V is already available as is Fortnite which is free to play and both have Battle Royal features. PUBG is eventually coming to the PS4 but there may be too many BR games that it just becomes one of many which effectively means it misses the boat.
Talk about opinionated.
Maybe the author ought to know that not everyone is interested in driving games. I will definitely agree that the graphics are great and it will sell but nowhere near what it would sell if it were a shooter. Still, it does fill a niche.

All those games get a "yawn" from me since I am very picky but the proof of success (more support) or failure (dropped support) will be sales.
As for "gaming on the go" I normally drive and cops take a very dim view of people not paying attention on the road. Even commuting is problematic if you are on a crowded bus or train especially if you're traveling times are usually less than 30 minutes. Personally, I stick to a smartphone since they are much ...
Actually, a Linux or Unix based operating system if properly set up for security can be extremely difficult to crack. However, any operating system can be cracked if security is flawed.
@Eonjay
The PS4 does not run a Linux kernel. It runs a variety of FreeBSD which is actually based on the Unix operating system.
Smartphones predominately have two different operating systems those being Android (Linux kernel) and OSX (Apple developed BSD...
If the PS5 is based on the x86_64 architecture then it will be backward compatible. Sony would be crazy not to since backward compatibility sells at the release of that console generation (eg. PS2 and FAT PS3) and is a great value-added feature further down the timeline.
Modularity is nice but you do pay for that feature and the lego type of modularity (been around for over forty years) is the most expensive.
Sure it is possible to go the PC route but as an example, if you wish to upgrade to the latest Intel Core i7 processor (ie. Coffee Lake) from the previous processor you also have to change your motherboard even though the socket set is the same. 3159d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
In two to three years 8K TV's will become mainstream (you can get them now).
I pretty much agree with everything you said except a 4K Bluray drive unless that is going to be used for installing games which I doubt since it would be cheaper to use two or more 50GB Bluray disks than one UHD Disk for a massive game.
Like it or not movie streaming is the way of the future which in turn will obsolete UHD Disks for movies. Sure videophiles will disagree bu...
Optical-out is a nice feature if you have an amplifier that takes "optical in", however, if you have HDMI which the PS3 and PS4 certainly do then there is no real need for optical-out.
Without going into a full how-to say you have a PS4, HDTV or UHDTV and an amplifier that can take optical-in. If your TV has an optical-out you would feed this into the optical-in of your amplifier so the optical-out of the PS4 would be unused. This setup makes your smart TV the con...
Final Fantasy has always been about a mix of technology and magic. You can skew one way or the other but basically can't get any more final than that.
Currently playing Atelier Sophie which IMHO is great fun. At least you are not always trying to meet a deadline and those quests that have a deadline are easy to complete.
One thing I did like about Atelier Sophie was the fact that you can download music (some is free) and can assign a personal selection of randomized music to certain events rather than listening to the same song all the time and when you are in the Atelier (you are there allot) the same repetitious song g...
If you are into benchmarking then you will notice a change however under real-world conditions you probably won't notice much at all although it is possible that you may be able to get a few extra frames per second from some games.
Let's put it this way I have a Skylake Core i7 6700 processor (I deliberately did not get an overclocked one) and it takes less than a second to open Chrome although it does take two seconds to open Firefox. In fact, most of my applicatio...
Every year Intel and AMD appear to be coming out with more powerful processors so getting the latest processor will be superseded the following year. In this particular case the "Coffee Lake" processors even though they use the LGA1151 socket will still require a new motherboard. https://www.extremetech.com... This will apply to t...
What has 4K Bluray to do with games? Actually, Sony won't mind since they have a huge stake in Bluray.
Streaming and broadcasts for many first world countries is becoming the norm and many UHD TV's can do this.
4K Recorded game clips and screenshots - You do know that a 2140p picture is over four times that of a 1080p picture? I hope you have plenty of bandwidth on your internet connection. Unless you are a content creator having this is rather po...
Why a low-resolution 4K TV when 8K is out now? https://www.digitaltrends.c... This URL is over eighteen months old.
OK, you need more money than sense but give it an additional two or three years. 😎
There are plenty of new Mobile games the problem is most are usually based on Tetris or Angry Birds. Some of the latest mobile games can very loosely be called games no matter how graphically pleasing (??) they are but nearly all seem to be adopting microtransactions, ridiculous advertising and pay to win.
At least they have not changed Solitaire games too much (yet). 😎
1, Can't comment since I have never been there.
2. if you purchase a good TV/Monitor then the cable, in this case, may not be that useful although if you have a "cheap" TV then the cable may help. The problem with the cable is the fact that you need to program it for different resolutions and that can be a nuisance.
Note: The cable has a USB connection to provide power and allow you to program it.
3. I would say that the m...
