Normally I don't have a problem with microtransactions when they are just additional skins or "fluff" providing they are optional and don't impact the game in any way. What I totally object to is when microtransactions are "pay to win" or worst yet "pay to finish game".

With the addition of "loot crates" microtransactions have IMHO hit a new low since they are a form of gambling which can actually target children although the ...

Just create folders for your games and miscellaneous stuff I have the following folders but the number and names of the folders is really up to you:

1. Purchased Games
2. PS+ Games
3. Demos
4. Miscellaneous

You will end up with a "Library" "What's New" and "PlayStation Store" icons plus the above folders I have mentioned which easily fit on your screen. I can't comment on PS Now although if ...

Backward compatibility is only a console seller at the start of the generation however it is only a value-added feature later on and this is borne out by the XB1 which did not support limited backward compatibility until two years into the generation. The PS4 still sells 2:1 over the XB1 worldwide, little has changed.

@ILostMyMind

You can get a "MicroSD card adaptor for the Vita".

Just copy what I have said and put it into Google or any search engine and you will get find plenty of vendors that sell the product which is very cheap. You should always consider buying a high-end MicroSD card to get the best performance.

Just because the Nintendo Switch supports MicroSD cards Nintendo still suggests high-end cards for the best performance. If y...

I think you meant to say Dual Shock 4 (DS4).

That said you can easily get around the limited (approx 6 ~ 8 hours) battery life by:
1. Extension charging cable - its very cheap although you will have a cable on the floor
2. Replace the battery - fairly cheap but you void any warranty since you have to open the DS4 to do this.
3. Use a battery bank - you can get a clip-on or uses a short cable
4. Purchase an additional DS4 and use alternate...

I got the CUH 1200A model in December 2015 which consumes less power than the original models and is (well mine is) full matte black which IMHO looks very nice.

No matter which model (includes slim and Pro) these consoles are fairly light and very portable (takes less then a minute to pack and unpack) although unlike the Switch you obviously cannot game on the go (cops take a very dim view of drivers playing games "on the go") but once you get to your destination ...

I actually swapped my 500GB drive with a 1TB 7200rpm drive which I salvaged from an old (8 years) broken laptop (total cost $0) and I do get a 10% to 25% improvement in loading performance on most games.

Actually, for the best performance you can't go wrong with an SSD (500MB/sec plus read, 480MB/sec plus write) but unfortunately, they are usually two to five times more expensive than an equivalent hard disk drive. If you have a PS4pro it is worth considering an SSD sin...

Not a chance I think it will be Halo, Gears of War and Forza. Ducks for cover. 😂

Seems a strange thing to say when all PS4's support HDR while only the XB1s and the XB1x support it. The original XB1 does not.

Well if you have the money you could get a beautiful 8K TV (they are available now) and then you really could have bragging rights. You would then definitely be PS5 ready when it comes out.

By sort-off supporting HD-DVD it made the adoption of Bluray more problematic even though if you looked at both specs Bluray won out except for the price which later did come down considerably once Bluray was adopted.

At the time Microsoft actually said that digital downloads would be the future but they did make an external HD-DVD player although they would not put an HD-DVD player into their XBox360.

The Kinect was quite a good tech but if you are playi...

In many Westernised countries you do have the right to criticise ideas or religion but you are a racist if you criticise an ethnic group of people. Of course, if you live in some countries that make any criticism of ideas and especially religion as heretical or blasphemous (effectively thought crime) then you may be taking a very big and possibly life-threatening risk to speak out.

In America, you have a divide between church and state (see Amendment 1) so you do have the r...

I am not on the side of scalpers but basically what we are seeing here is "supply and demand." The real people to blame are the people who are stupid enough to pay the exorbitant price that scalpers demand. If those people had a little bit of patience then we would see scalping disappear but "no" they have to have the latest "shiny" now.

Err no!

Shure the game will be Adult only but you would have to be living under a rock to think that children won't get to play this and they are very susceptible to gambling incentives.

Yes, there are idiots (approx 2.9%) who will get sucked into gambling but that does not make it right and these "greedy" publishers know this.

BTW. A simple Google search of "gambling addiction" will show the percentage of people...

There is a huge difference between microtransactions which are a kind of optional "fluff" compared to "loot-crates" which is a form of gambling. It is even more confusing when DLC (Digital Downloadable Content) is equated to microtransactions.

Personally, I am not a fan of microtransactions but as long as it remains just optional and not "pay to win" or worst yet "pay to complete game" then I am fine with it.

You a...

Unfortunately, you will always have those on the fringe such as "flat-earthers' and "conspiracy theorists". You would get a much better conversation from a brick wall than talk to them since it does not matter what evidence you provide they will refuse to believe.

Racism in any form is bad and there is one thing that the USA has over many countries and that is the division of church and state.

Oh really! I suggest you read some history books. especially from 550 AD or CE on.

How about reading up on Indian (India not the USA) history (use "india genocide") and the "Mediterranean wars 600 ad" over the last 1400 years. Basically, Hitler and Starlin were boy scouts compared to what happened over that time. I will let you work out who or what was responsible.

There is a saying "Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat i...

It would be pretty easy and very cost effective to put things like loot boxes into a game.

A quick Goole search (use "gambling addicts") will show you that approximately 2.9% of the adult (I am assuming USA here) are addicted to gambling. For more information try the following http://addiction.lovetoknow...

Normally I ignore games that allude to gambling and loot-cases" like it or not are gambling, it is just that the Government hasn't cracked down yet.

3149d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I am not going to disagree but microtransactions are not the problem here, loot-crates or whatever you want to call them are a form of gambling.

If people wish to purchase in-game "fluff" commonly called microtransactions I don't have any issue, after all, it is the players choice and money. Where I do have an issue is when you are basically forced to grind to get better items and this then becomes "pay to win". It is even more insidious when "...
