It is not so much as the Switch getting the third-party support it is how much will third-party games eat into the 26GB of usable storage.

If you get Doom for the Switch on a MicroSD card you are obviously going to pay more but you will also have to download the multiplayer part which (you guessed it) will go into the internal memory. The only way around this is to buy a MicroSD card and get the game via digital download (not sure of price) which will only be stored on you...

If you look at serious FPS players they normally play on monitors with screen sizes varying from 24" to 27". What is important here is for the player to view the screen comfortably and have few distractions outside of the screen. It also helps if the refresh rate is greater than 60Hz (such as 144Hz or higher) and the response time is lower than 2ms.

Sure a 60" or larger TV is great (mine is an HD 55" 200HZ refresh TV) but it does require a larger room as...

Why be nostalgic for what is effectively a pixelated mess?

I am not against the result from a particular older technology since that was basically state of the art for that technology at the time but if at a later date the game is improved by various techniques to be closer or on par with modern day games then I am all for it providing the gameplay remains the same or has preferably been improved.

Of course, the downside is the fact that the graphically i...

Skyrim - played it to death. 😀
Binding of Isaac (old game), Mario Kart, Arms, Splatoon, Mario + rabbids, Sonic Mania, Fifa, Mario Oddy, Pokken, Fire Emblem (old game), LA Noir (old game) - not interested
Zelda Breath of the Wild - Like to play it but not going to buy the Switch for one game when I have a massive backlog of AAA, third party and Indi games.

Things are a bit confusing. Some say the Switch version of Doom runs at 60fps but so far the consensus seems to be a relatively stable 30fps http://www.eurogamer.net/ar... which for a game like this considering the hardware is not bad.

The main problem with Doom on the Switch may be the storage requirements whereby the Switch version needs a separate download (y...

Like it or not the Dark Souls games are not as popular on the XBox360 (1.74 million) and XB1 (800,000) compared to the PS3 (3.31 million) and PS4 (2.68 million) and that is taking into account the number of consoles (just double the XB1 number for an equivalence). http://www.vgchartz.com/gam... (Yes. Yes, I know, but if anyone has a better refer...

Whilst I am no fan of Microsoft what you said is stupid, outright fanboyism or just plain trolling

The developers (Bandai Namco Studios, Shif) and the publishers (BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe) of Code Vein are in a business and like it or not that business also covers Microsoft products which are XB1 (Windows 10) and Microsoft Windows. Basically, you don't normally ignore millions of potential buyers.

Of course, someone like me who has a PC runn...

In the Souls and Bloodborne games, you can get one or two NPC help to take down some problematic (subjective) enemies which include bosses. In addition, you can request an online player(s) help as well so it is possible to have two NPC's and two online players assisting you. You can't get any easier than that.

One of the downsides of requesting online help is the fact that you can get invaded by real players. Of course, you can always increase your stats and/or weap...

Well, you could say try running Zelda Breath of the Wild on the PS4, XB1 or PC? ... Oh, you can do that as well as MK8 on the PC. My bad. https://www.youtube.com/wat... and https://www.youtube.com/wat... 😎

I suppose we really should be asking if you can run Horizon Zero Dawn or Bloodborne or Halo or Gears of War ...

If we are looking at a wait of two to three years for the PS5 why consider 4K when 8K https://vidgotv.com/vidgo/8... will be mainstream in that time?

Like I have before if the PS5 is x86_64 architecture then it will be backward compatible and a developer would have to be stupid, arrogant or have a very poor business sense if they only target their games at the PS5 and not the PS4 and PS4pro. This is no more differ...

If Sony's PS5 has X86_64 architecture then there is an extremely good chance it will be backward compatible with PS4 games. Backwards compatibility is a console seller mainly at the start of the generation and a value-added feature later on.

PC games are normally designed to run on a variety of different performing PC setups and I it would be stupid for developers to bring out games that could only run on the most powerful machine this is why when you look at a PC gam...

It does help when you have a backward compatible PS3 which can play PS2 games and even though the graphics are not as good as most PS3 or PS4 games it is still acceptable on large screen TV's. Unfortunately, PS1 games (all PS3's and PS2's can play them) look very grainy on large screen TV's and can look "odd" when the game was in the 4:3 aspect ratio originally, although there are exceptions.

Of course, graphics are not everything when playing an o...

Actually, I do agree with Child of Light since it is a turn-based RPG which has a fairly smooth ramp up in difficulty.

My first NES RPG was Faxanadu which was an action RPG. My next RPG or should I say Action /Adventure was the first NES Zelda followed by Zelda 2 which actually was an RPG. I would have difficulty recommending these "old" games to a newbie.

The Souls series and Bloodborne are definitely not for the beginner although I was surpri...

One of the issues with Doom maybe the internal storage of the Switch which is 26GB for games.

I think an interesting question to ask is "Have you played Final Fantasy XII?"

If the answer is "yes" and you liked the game then I think you would have liked FF13 since there are a lot of similarities those being "no random encounters" and the ability to fine-tune how your party acts in a battle. In fact, FF13 was the first FF game where you had no choice but to use active turn-based where other FF games allowed you to use a combination of tur...

Saves don't normally take up that much space and therefore could easily be saved to cloud storage but that becomes problematic if you wish to upload DLC and patched files.

A PS+ member gets 10GB of cloud storage for saves and the like but there is is no facility for DLC and patched files. You can backup your storage if you have a larger or equivalent sized disk though.

@UletheVee31

Actually, you are going to have a difficult time purchasing the PS4slim without a 1TB drive unless you opt for second hand.

Even if you have a 500GB PS4 you can easily and relatively cheaply replace the internal storage for a 1TB or larger HDD or just use an external drive.

Yes, you can play PS1 and PS2 games without a memory card although it does get rather annoying when you switch off the machine and find you have to start again from the beginning after you power up your machine. 😉

Of course, you could have a PS3 to play your PS1 games or a BC PS3 to play PS2 games and all you need is to create a virtual memory card on the PS3's hard drive.

Yes.

For Doom. http://www.nintendo.com/gam...

For NBA 2K18. http://www.nintendo.com/gam...

Not sure about Skyrim but it will have the three DLC's which should make the storage size about 20GB. It should be noted that the DLC should be optional since if you install all three...
