All updates are optional for the PS3 and PS4 however if you don't update you won't get access to PSN and some online features.
In the case of the PS4 the update is normally downloaded in the background and when the download is finished you are prompted to install which means a reboot, however, when you do this is up to you.
To appreciate 4K visuals you really need a 4K TV and for the majority of people worldwide the uptake of 4K will be slow especially since 8K is out now and although expensive it will drop in price to the point where 4K is sidelined. I will give that 2 to 3 years.
Sure if you are a dedicated gamer or love watching UHD movies then 4K will have an appeal but the main TV (ie. standard TV shows) content today is usually in 720p and standard definition with some 1080p for some cha...
Currently, the PS4pro sells at 20% of all PS4 sales which are approximately 16 million since November 2016 to September 2017 so you are looking at approximately 3.2 million PS4pro's sold (give or take say -15% to +5%).
For the XB1x to outsell the PS4pro within a year it would have to be selling well over 50% of all XB1 sales and considering that the XB1 sales are half that of PS4 sales that is very unlikely especially since the XB1 will be anything from $200 to $250 USD...
The more anything is hyped the more skeptical I am of it and that in turn forces me to examine that something more closely.
When the Division was hyped I was interested since I do like games with RPG features. Then I found out the game was effectively online only which (for me) sets off alarm bells so I decided to wait for reviews which was fine since I was playing The Witcher 3 at the time. Most of the reviews said the game graphically was good but the overall gameplay was...
In the gambling industry, there are particular terms which are used to describe a particular gambler they are Whales, Dolphins and Minnows. The most prolific gambler is the Whale at about 3% but spends almost 50% of the revenue while the Dolphin (about 5% to 7%) pretty much send the other 50%. The Minnow (about 80% to 90%) will hardly spend anything. http://chrislema.com/segmen...

Achievements for PS2 classics are only the case if you purchase the digital game. You will also get smoothing and achievements but the aspect ratio will normally remain the same so you will get letterboxing left and right unless the original game had a 16:9 aspect ratio.
PS2 classics are upscaled to 1080p unlike digital remasters which you do pay more for but they are native 1080p.
@Bobafret
You are right, backward compatibility is a great value-added feature but it is only a console seller at the start of the generation. Basically, the players who kept their original games will now have the option of playing them on newer hardware with the possible chance of graphical (ie. smoothing) and/or framerate improvement.
Still, if you did not keep your old games or don't have the one you would like to play you will have to pay for them...
If you have young children (ie. less than 12 years old) would you trust them with taking the switch outside? If yes would you trust their friends? If you do then you have more money than sense.
Here is the rub. If you have more than one child of similar age (ie. one or two years differential) then do you get each one a Switch or would you be more pragmatic and purchase a 2DS for each of them?
Short but not a bad read
With any game, it fits into what can be construed as a specific category or genres such as (in no particular order) Action/Adventure, Action, Adventure, RPG, FPS, Shooter, Racing, Sport, Puzzle, ... etc. Where you have a problem is when you split that genres into one or more sub-genres.
Take the following examples (have fun working out genres for other games that you like):
Skyrim - main genres is its an Action ...
"Think of the Children!" is a great catch phrase and used by pretty much everyone with an agenda to sell.
I do agree with you but we live in societies that have pretty much the same moral core values (these are outside of any religion although they do have a tendency to take credit) but it is very easy for unscrupulous people to take advantage of the more so-called minor values. The problem society has is where to draw the line when the line can be a moving target...
Do you have any statistical data to back up your claim?
If you do a Google search using the words "objection to loot boxes" you will get about fifty thousand hits. Now try "loot boxes and gambling" and you will get over 1.5 million hits. How about "video games and gambling" which gives you 1.95 million hits. I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.
I think the old adage of "If you give them an inch they will take a mile" applies to some publishers and if you look at Star Wars Battlefront 2 (sorry I forgot to prefix with "EA" 😐) you will see loot-boxes that can give you the player buffs and even weapon upgrades which is basically a "pay to win" mentality. Yes, you can grind but you are at a severe disadvantage against players who are lazy and have more money than sense.

As for information related to child gambling due to loot-boxes how about putting the following into Google "loot boxes and child gambling". You will get about 500,000 hits although you will get more if you remove the "and".
Of course, you could use the following search "gambling addiction statistics 2017" and you will get about 4 million hits but an interesting site does explain this in more detail 3153d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment
By silent protagonist, the author means or gives the impression of meaning that the main character you as the player controls has hardly any emotion and/or has minimal impact on the other members of your party.
Yes, there are Japanese RPG's that have a silent protagonist although there are many that don't (eg. Final Fantasy from 4 on). However, there are many so-called Western RPG's that have a silent protagonist as well (eg. Oblivion, Skyrim).
I do agree but I would not be surprised if Nintendo puts out a takedown notice on the video/tech demo
Yes but you do have to admit that the food is pretty good. 😎
In the desktop market (included laptops) the Microsoft operating system dominates with 29.09% Windows 10, 47.21% Windows 7, 5.89% Windows 8.1, 5.69% Windows XP and 1.24% Windows 8.0. https://www.netmarketshare.... Basically if you have a Desktop or laptop there is a very high chance that it runs a Windows OS.

I actually see more "Dude Bro" games on the XB1 than the PS4. You only have to look at the trailer for Scalebound (now canceled) and you will see how Microsoft thinks trendy gamers should speak.
MMO's, FPS and Shooters have their main emphasis on multiplayer, to begin with.
There are still plenty of single player games that have come out or are in the pipeline that can easily be played without an online connection although most AAA games seem to push the online and consequently multiplayer features. Of course, the $$ component is heavily pushed in some of these AAA games.
About 1.16 million worldwide. http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...
Yes I know some people will say that VGChartz is not that accurate or is biased but in the absence of a more accurate site (there are some but they are behind a paywall) this is the best and easiest site to get gaming information.. Anyway you can always add an error bar to the results such as say -5% to +10%.
