Actually, Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw never gives a score for games he reviews although it is not that difficult to guess if the game is worth getting.
Actually, you can get better frame rates but you really do need a powerful (i5 overclocked or better) PC to run the emulator. A PS4 is not powerful enough because the PS3 architecture is radically different to X86_64.
A PS1, PS2 or PS3 can play PSX disks or if you can rip the disks you can play them via emulator on a decent PC running Microsoft Windows or a Linux distribution.
Actually how long do you think Microsoft will allow a PSX emulator to run on their console? While an emulator is legal ripping the ROM's is not and I am sure Microsoft does not want to be caught up in any piracy battles.
Somehow I very much doubt that Microsoft would like it if Sony provided...
If Microsoft pulls the emulator do you honestly think you will be able it run it on your Microsoft console after all it does run Windows 10 and Microsoft has control over what can run or not run on that operating system?
You are quite right it is possible to find many emulators that can be installed on your PC. What you won't be able to do is install unsigned software on the XB1 unless you jailbreak the console although by doing this you may find that you have effectively a brick.
Rather pointless if the emulator is banned from the XB1 which Microsoft could easily do.
If you want an emulator you are safer getting one for your PC although if you are running Windows 10 and have not locked it down then Microsoft can know what you have installed and that includes ROM's.
Emulators aren't piracy, however, getting the ROM's to play via the emulator is although I am not sure of the legality if you do own the PS1 media and have ripped it to a file.
The problem Microsoft has to face is if they allow a PS1 emulator on their consoles is that Sony could ask for names of people who are actually using the emulator which means those people could be pirating PS1 games. Sure Microsoft could deny Sony the names however it could be implied that Mi...
Have you ever hear of a battery bank or a clip on battery pack or if you are confident replace the controller battery with a longer life one? Of course, you could purchase an additional controller but the cheapest solution is a cable but that may be annoying if it trails across the floor.
All those things I have mentioned (exception additional controller) don't stop you playing while changing batteries will although admittedly it does not take long to change batteries. ...
I do have an original PS3 which can play PS1 (all PS3's can do this) and PS2 games, however, I have hardly played any PS2 games (last played over a year ago) and even less PS1 games (last played was about four years ago).
I actually purchased a PS4 about two years ago and I have so many PS4 games (mostly free via PS+ and over 20 purchased ones) that I really don't have the time to play old games anymore.
It must be noted that except for the first ...
PS1 and some PS2 games came on what is effectively a CD-Rom. The PS4 reader cannot read a CD-Rom so those games on that media can't be read by the PS4's Bluray reader. Unfortunately, even though the PS4 can read DVD which most PS2 games came on Sony decided to not allow PS2 games to be directly played on the PS4. The same was true for PS3 games.
The original PS3 did have nearly full backward compatibility for PS2 games if you had the NTSC model which basically had t...
I thought that was the idea of a difficulty selection at the start of some games.
Some games have a difficulty selection and the ability to change difficulty on the fly which sort of detracts from the idea of any challenge or skill. This is why I like the Souls/Borne games since you have to 'git gud' or just don't bother playing the game.
BTW. The Souls/Borne games do have a difficulty selection in that you can ask for online and NPC help agai...
In the case of the current consoles and even the PC this is true although to be fair the Nintendo Switch actually requires the game to be played of a microSD card and to a limited extent about 26GB out of 32GB of internal storage.
Basically playing a game off Bluray disk would result in fairly poor performance hence the reason for using the Bluray player as a media installer.
In the case of the PS4 and XB1 if you install a game via physical media (ie. Blu...
Again yes and no.
Take a look at AAA games with many being 40GB upwards with patches that can exceed 10GB, however, there are Indie and other smaller gaming developers who produce games that can be anything from a few hundred megabytes upwards to 20GB with the median being around 5GB to 8GB. Some of those none AAA game developers hardly produce patches since they are rarely needed.
Games that are smaller in size are very suitable for digital downloads whi...
How do you know the future will be 4K? You should be aware that 8K displays are out now and while expensive will come down in price in two to three years to the point were 4K will be relegated to the same status of what 720p is to 1080p.
Even today cheap smaller 720p TVs are being made and even in the future 1080p TVs and displays will still be sold along with 4K and 8K (there are other resolutions such as 1440p, 2K, 5K, ... etc) depending on screen size, aspect-ratio and p...
All they need to do is bring out a Demon's Souls and Dark Souls remaster for the PS4. This would be especially attractive if the games were 1080p @ 60 fps (Hint!) just like they did with Dark Souls II.
With the servers going offline it will be almost impossible to get a world white soul tendency although you can still get a black soul tendency (just die a lot). http://demonssouls.wikidot....
@Deep-throat
Emulation or even a remaster (not likely although you never know) if the servers are down then you will never be able to invade worlds, fight off invaders or even help other pla...
Yes, it is possible that business will play fair once net neutrality is repealed in December 2017 and it may also be possible for pigs to grow wings and fly.
@opinionated
Clean water, building guidelines/codes, as well as sewerage, have been around for a very long time since those amenities are essential for any society to thrive. Normally utilities were by consensus in smaller groups (ie, villages, hamlets) but as populations increased government agencies became involved and mandated rules and guidelines although if you had enough money you could circumvent them (not all that different to our modern society).

Actually, I would also be worried if I lived in Canada (I live in Australia) although your country does have a lot of ISP's https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... which is fine for local competition, however, the main backbones still appear to go via the US and it is fairly easy for an unscrupulous major ISP on the US side to start giving preference to certain (paid for) internet traffic.
So far it is for PC, however, there is no reason why the game could not be ported to the consoles since both the PS4 and XB1 are both X86_64 architecture.
Yes, I am sure the PC elite would say it's not possible however the if any game developer for the PC is serious about making money they will target a minimum spec that the game will run on which is common practice and both the PS4 and XB1 should have specs higher than the minimum recommended specs.
