Sometimes it is difficult keeping the "old" system around since eventually they die and effectively the game you like can no longer be played.

Basically from the PS2 then the first PS3's you had backwards compatibility so it was possible to still play your old PS games on the newest hardware (sort of like PC's), however with the PS4 and XB1 you have no backwards compatibility (I think the Wii U does though) hence you need your old console to play your old ga...

Personally a great deal is when you can get the console you want in addition to the games you want to play now and in the future. Just buying something because it is cheaper may not be the best thing to do. But then again it's your money and you do have the choice.

If you consider that consoles are like razors and by selling the console at a loss you eventually make a profit by selling games and add-ons. However this type of strategy can be a double edged sword.

The above is fine for the razor analogy however normally you find you only get two razor blades so you very quickly have to purchase more. What Microsoft is doing with their bundles is give out allot more games (I have seen up to seven) which would keep the average gamer happy f...

The only features that were removed on the PS3 were PS2 backwards compatibility, Other OS, Memory card readers and reducing the four USB slots to two. In addition they changed the touch buttons to physical buttons.

With the exception of PS2 backwards compatibility what other features were absolutely essential to most people?

Before you say anything all PS3's can still play PS1 games. As for the "Other OS" lets be realistic here how many people u...

Sure Microsoft have effectively purchased their November win in the US but the game bundles they have basically given away mean they will have to come up with "must-have" games over the course of life of the console that will entice those buyers to make more purchases.

Reducing the console is one thing and can usually be made up with two or three full price purchases but when you basically give away 5 to 7 AAA or very well received games as well then it may take som...

Actually if you like Anime you are dependent on the sometimes poor subbing from commercial sites if they actually air the program anyway. So many Anime fans find that fan subbing is usually very good and you get to see the program just a few hours after it has aired on Japanese TV.

Basically you can't purchase fan-subbed anime since it is done for free anyway. Sure you could wait for the official Sub/Dub but that could be months away or never.

It could be...

It can be quite complex to program for multi core machines since you have to take into account what is called "race conditions" for parallel programming

To keep things in perspective say you program something that performs a linear task then that task can be assigned to any core or CPU until it completes.

Now lets say you have a master task that can create additional slave tasks to do specific things. Each of the slave tasks can be assigned to a dif...

A good place to start is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... paying particular attention to heat pipes which is as you said a closed loop solution.

My i7 laptop actually uses this technique for cooling since the case is less than 2cm thick and normal air cooling would not work efficiently. The case still gets very hot and I have to clean the air vents every week.

I don't have issue if the next DD has on-line capability but if the game is on-line only then I will spend my money elsewhere.

If you have a game title with the word "dragon" in it you can pretty much guess it's going to have dragons.

Anyway what's wrong with having dragons in a game? IMHO they are better than giant robots.

While I really liked DD Dark Arisen I found that the quest system really let it down since the majority of the quests were really shallow. The DLC was IMHO pretty useless although the "Queens Outfit" had some fairly good stats but IMHO ridicules.

Another feature of DD was the so called "hard" mode which to me was stupid. Basically you got thousands of coins just killing a goblin in the first couple of minutes of the game, as for increased difficulty I did ...

The only features that were taken away on the PS3 were PS2 backwards comparability (Boo!) and the ability to boot another OS (lets be honest here who really used this?).

If you want to nitpick then 4 USB's reduced to 2, card readers removed (who used this?) and touch buttons replaced with physical buttons. If these were the items that you somehow find unpalatable with no workaround then I really do feel sorry for you.

Functionally there were only two thin...

From another article the values that are widely accepted as “accurate” are ~1,240,000 for the Xbox One an ~840,000 for the PS4. However these figures are for the US and the UK so it will be interesting to see how this breaks down for each county.

Here in Australia the XB1 + Kinnect and 7 games is selling for A$499 (US$412) compared to the PS4 + 5 games at AU$598 (US$493). The prices I quoted are including tax. Basically in Australia the XB1 + Kennet has always been only AU$50...

I think the following sums up what people want. A flicker free gaming experience and of course enjoyable game-play.

I can understand people who like FPS and racing games preferring high frame-rates, however I prefer action/adventure and RPG's so to me a solid frame-rate and high quality detailed graphics is more important.

Of course good gameplay is more important than frame-rate or graphics but a choppy frame-rate and/or poor graphics will degrade the gameplay.

I think it is very important to get things in perspective here. Consoles are designed to interface with TV&#...

Personally I would never pre-order a game although I can understand if there is collectable or downloadable content but you really need to ask yourself if this content is really worth the price you have to pay.

Well you could get some programmable stick-on multicolour light strips, they are not that expensive and would really enhance the device you stick the strips on.

If you like the retro vcr look then why don't you get the XB1(80). The PS4 looks more like a DVD/Blu-ray player ... oh wait!

One way Sony could sell more of these would to say something like "Due to popular demand we have decided to release an additional 50,000 or even 100,000 of these PS4 bundles".

I think even if they say 500,000 although IMHO 1 million may be pushing it they will most likely sell-out fairly quickly. In many ways that would be a good way for Sony to sell more PS4's with very little advertising.

Doing the above would only hurt the "scalpers&quo...

If you have the original PS1 version you can play it on your PS3 if you have one although it may not look all that great on a decent sized HDTV.

There is supposed to be a FFVII HD (PC edition) coming to the PS4 though.
