Personally the XB1 looks like a 1980's VCR and could do with loosing a bit of the flab :-)

Reducing the size of the XB1 is really just a design engineering job which really should not be that difficult. It would be possible to even put in an internal power supply, after-all Sony has been doing it with all their PlayStation's (there was a special exception).

What Microsoft realises is they cannot change the specs of the so called slimmer XB1 or risk t...

@bneals

The PS2 had facilities for on-line gaming although most of this was via a third party.

PSN was started when the PS3 was released. So I suppose you could say Microsoft has had more experience, however in the fields of computing and networking being first is not necessarily a good thing since you may have allot of older technology that has to be phased out.

How do you know if Microsoft or Sony has the better network? Internally one may ...

Just saying "smart gamers own a PC instead of xbox one + PS4" is fairly immature since I am fairly sure that most people who post on this forum have access or own a PC which is quite capable of playing PC games if they really feel like it. Just how powerful those PC's are depends if they built it themselves to ridiculous specs or purchased a gaming PC or just got a medium or lower spec PC.

Oh I almost forgot if those same people prefer PC gaming or console gamin...

You don't know what One piece is? well here is the link to the Manga wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Of course there is an Anime (678 episodes and counting) as well and the games (over 30) are also fairly popular.

I hope this info has restored your "Otaku" credentials :-)

Actually a better idea would be to play the first Uncharted game (Drake's Fortune) and you will be able to unlock concept art and interviews with ND designers and artists.

@plut0nash

Do you know what real hacking is?

I will give you a hint.

If you have ever modified or even written your own software code then you are basically a hacker so making "hacking" a crime would entail creating a jail the size of a small country and letting the rest of civilization collapse.

Hacking is not a crime while "Cracking" (think safe-cracker) is and DDoS fits into the cracking category. The b...

Why should Sony or even Microsoft refund it was not their fault that they were attacked with a DDoS. If anything blame your ISP and everyone else's ISP as well as the Crackers and the people who did not protect themselves from the both-net software.

Please note there is a big difference between a Cracker and a Hacker. Cracking is a criminal offence while Hacking is not.

If all the hackers of the world were locked up the software industry would collapse an...

Why go out to watch a movie when you can rent or buy a Blu-ray or even a DVD and get your friends and/or family to watch it with you. No network needed here and much more fun.

Of course you can even get some good off-line games and depending on the game you can even play these with your family and friends or by yourself.

If all you want to play is on-line only games then enjoy the vagaries of your network although to be fair depending on your ISP most of the ...

Well kudo's for Microsoft fixing their DDoS issues, however did you every think what operating system was used as part of the bot-net to instigate the DDoS in the first place :-)

Normally when I play a game for the first time I try not to read walk-throughs so I can enjoy the game more. Finding things for the first time is IMHO much more fun than knowing it is there.

The first time I played Zen's fortress I died and died some more however you gradually learn and you get a sense of achievement when you beat the Iron Giant at the access point to Anor Londo.

While I have not played DS2, I prefer to wait till it comes to the PS4 which...

DX12 is a Microsoft suite of API's for Microsoft's operating system which is now based on "Windows NT". These libraries or API's as they are more popularly known will not work on the PS4 which runs an operating system called Orbis OS which is based on freeBSD which in turn uses the OpenGL graphics libraries.

The only way I could see DX12 impacting the PS4 is it may put greater emphasis of improving graphics libraries for the PS4.

Actually I would say that while Skyrim was IMHO better than Oblivion but not in the way you may think. One of the major problems with Oblivion was it was difficult to use third person perspective in combat.

Another issue with Oblivion was that just about everyone levelled up with you, however with a bit of foresight you should chose most of your important attributes as you minor skills and your lesser attributes as your major skills. Sounds weird but it works since you don...

Actually one member states that he is Finish which may be problematic in extradition although a treaty between Finland and the USA (including allot of other countries) does exist.

Basically the FBI can investigate locally in the USA however they probably want to locate as many "bots" that would be used to launch the DDoS attacks. I am not sure what would happen here since I have never heard of anyone being fined or arrested if their PC was made part of a bot-net.

Inconvenienced allot of kids and even the big kids as well, but destroy no. I am not sticking up for these "rat-bags" but you need to get what happened in perspective.

Basically many countries around the world pass very stiff penalties which can include jail terms on people who launch DDoS so these people are basically living on borrowed time.

Even if these people are caught or identified it may not be possible to bring them to justice especially i...

The acronym MTU stands for "Maximum transmission unit". To find out more a good starting point is the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

It does start to get complicated fairly quickly but normally it is best to let your router/computer/console figure out what is best, however if you have problems changing the MTU can be helpful but you really should note down your origin...

As for people outgrowing games that is debatable. You could have as an example a person who enjoyed Action games as a kid but has moved on to FPS's, driving and sports games as they got older then when these loose their attraction the player may move on again to say Action/Adventure and/or RPG's. Of course this is only a hypothetical example the choice is always up to the particular gamer.

Given the above example the particular person has not given up on gaming but ha...

Why not purchase a 7200 rpm drive which is about 30% faster than the equivalent 5400 rpm drive and approximately 5% to 10% dearer. Sure you could get an SSD which is lightning fast but it is debatable if you will see that performance improvement on either your PS4 or Xbox.

Getting a 7200 rpm drive is allot kinder on your wallet than getting an equivalent sized SSD. Of course if you are building your own PC it would be well worth getting a 64GB or 128GB SSD for your system dis...

Personally speaking I would have brought a PS4 immediately just for Elder Scrolls, however when I heard it was on-line only I am quite happy to wait until an equivalent single player RPG comes out.

I have no objection to an RPG having an on-line component however I prefer playing a game that is not wholly dependent on the internet even though my connection is very fast and reliable.

I am still playing Skyrim the legendary edition having over 200 plus of game play and have hardly done much for the main quest since there are so many things you can see and do.

One of the main features of this game is it's randomness when taking on quests so even if you replay you may not do things the same way.

I did like Dragon's Dogma - Dark Arisen although I found the quest system fairly simplistic (it's main let-down IMHO).

Well I don't run my web browser under a Microsoft OS so I am petty safe although I am not stupid enough to follow a link that my web browser (Chrome, Firefox, ... etc but no IE) warns of potential malwear.
