Now what you said was much better then the IMHO "stupid article".
I will add to yours and mention the "upside down" PS1 fix as the machine got older.
With regard to the article I was expecting at least six serous issues the Playstation had across all machines but this IMHO is just click bait.
1. Network issues. Are you kidding me all consoles and PC's suffer this and it is ISP and game dependent, although I am familia...
Running a 10m HDMI cable may be the cheapest solution however having cable on the floor can be a hazard unless you are the only one in your house. To get around this you can get a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver however this is more expensive. Still if you have an expensive PC gaming rig $100 to $500 is a small price to play.
As far as competing I think the XB1 has more to worry about since many (not all) games that come out for the XBox (360 and "one") will also come out for the PC which basically means this machine as well. So if you have this type of PC why would you really want an XBox unless it was for those games which are totally exclusive to the XBox.
Getting my crystal ball out :) I for-see (if this machine does well) longer release times between games for the XB1/XB360 and PC. ...
According to the following:
http://www.polygon.com/a/e3...
"There are i5 and i7 options as well, and users can upgrade everything but the GPU on their own."
so basically "yes" you can upgrade yourself or purchase the box with the appropriate CPU. Of course the article does not mention hard disk size or replace-ability but I would assume that was was a g...
I was wondering when someone was going to mention this.
I don't really think we are going to see 4k gaming become mainstream for a few years yet. What you may be interested in is the BBC will be streaming in 4k video the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
In addition BBC Technology is also looking at 8k and 300 fps however this is some years away from being commercial. see the following one year old URL:

I think MKV which is rightly or wrongly associated with piracy may be a legal mine-field for Sony since they don't appear to have support for this container format on any of their products. Still it is no big deal to convert an MKV file to an MP4 file.
As for DLNA support most modern HDTV's support this so it should not be that much of a deal.
I have a 55" 3D HDTV and I still, on the odd occasion play Gamecube games on it. I can even play my original PS1 and PS2 games via my FAT PS3.
As far as I am concerned if the game is fun to play even if the resolution and frame rate is sub par compared to today's "standards" then I will enjoy playing that game. Admittedly a higher resolution and frame-rate game may be more attractive but if it's not fun then IMHO it is not worth playing.
***If you dont care about res/fps at all dont bother gaming***
Rubbish! If you care about gaming you care if the game is fun to play. Yes Resolution and FPS can add to the enjoyment of the game but they are not the main criteria that make a good game.
Unfortunately for the PS3 it was initially expensive to build and therefore the cost to the purchaser was allot higher than the competition.
I think if they had put in at least 1GB or 2GB of memory the machine would still be very competitive today, but putting in that extra memory would have caused even more losses for Sony at that moment in time which they could ill afford.
Not everyone likes playing an RPG on a handheld much less a smart phone where IMHO the controls are dumbed down. I guess this is one version of BoF that I will be avoiding although I do like the series and have played all except 6 so far.
I have tried to play RPG's on my Galaxy S3 but even though it has one of the largest screens I find the controls annoying and while the detail is there it does not compare to a similar game on a larger screen and a hand held controller. ...
Capcom did bring out "Dragon's Dogma - Dark Arisen" which basically was the same game with a large add-on set on/in an island where the enemies are a whole lot tougher. Also quests given from the island can take you to the mainland as well where you can also find tougher enemies. Fast travel is also much better in that while it still costs (although not as much) you have and can set-up more teleport sites (it is possible to get an unlimited teleport stone).

While I do agree with what you said I think it is important to note the following. Yes you will definitely pick the difference between 1080p content and 4K (2160p) content, but if the content is 1080p or even 720p to both TV's you probably won't notice much of a difference even side to side unless the 4K TV has a very good up-scaler.
As for frame rate that also depends on the content in that a film may be shown at 24 fps and be quite comfortable to watch, while conten...
It depends on the aspect ratio of the screen. When talking about HDTV most people would have a screen that has a 16:9 aspect ratio which would be 720p (1280x720 pixels), 1080p (1920x1080 pixels) and for 4k TV's or UHDTV's 2160p (3840x2160 pixels).
With the exception of the standard definition standards a normal HDTV will only display 720p and 1080p signals. The so called 900p has to be unscaled to 1080p assuming it can be scaled to a 16:9 aspect ratio. If it can't...
That URL is almost a year old I suggest you look at more up to date URL's such as the following:

I would also suggest you look at other articles that were written this year as well.
When you say both consoles (ie. PS4 and XB1) are underpowered you really need a frame of reference. Sure they are underpowered compared to a high end PC with current CPU, Graphics card and large amounts of RAM, but you are going to pay a premium for a rig like that. Likewise even a modern day gaming rig is like a hand held calculator when compared against a super computer.
From an Engineering perspective (ie a real one) you have to consider feasible, "cost effective"...
Why? I have a gaming PC but have never really liked playing games on the PC preferring console gaming instead. I have seen Skyrim on PC (my son has it on his gaming rig) and I won't deny that the graphics are better but I still prefer playing Skyrim via my PS3 to my 55" HDTV to his 27" monitor.
Personally if you like playing games on your PC that is fine by me but I and millions of other players do prefer to play games on their consoles even if games on PC's...
Skyrim was first release on Nov 11 2011 which makes the game less than 3 years old. For a game of this type which is an Action RPG with an MMO feel that is makes the game fairly special particularly since this game is not only available for PC's but also for the PS3 and XB360.
Personally I feel that if a game is fun to play then it does not matter how old that game is. Even Oblivion (Mar 20 2006 - PC, XB360, PS3 one year later) is still a really fun game.
Well they have "Skyrim the legendary edition" for consoles (ie. PS3 and XB360) and that would give you an extra 100+ hours of gameplay. Of course you could pay to download the content but it would probably work out cheaper to get the BD (PS3) or DVD's (XB360) if you have never played the game before.
As for the PS4 and XB1 you can get Elder Scrolls Online if you don't mind paying for subscription although I am not sure if you need an PS+ or Xbox live Subscri...
I do agree the "Gaping Dragon" was an OMG situation. The same can be said for the Witch of Izalith fan service and IMO the "Oh Sh*t" feeling when you kill Ornstein or Smough.
I do think the first meeting with the Drake and Blacksmith Vamos were a "what the!" feeling.
In many respects I think these Dark Souls moments are actually built on similar but different situations that happened in Demon Souls. I won't take sides here ea...
Well the last issue the article mentioned was the difference of button functionality between the PS controller and the XBox controller. Sure there is a difference and IMHO a none issue but you are right, I don't think this was a "Pro xbox agenda".
