It was always possible to do something like this, after all it really is an engineering problem. It is possible to do this with the PS3, Wii/WiiU and Xbox360 or any other combination.
The main reason you will never see a commercial implementation is that the engineering is just merging already commercial products so it would be cheaper just to buy each product separately.
Trying to sell this would be a legal nightmare as both Microsoft and Sony would join for...
I still have the original FFVIII disks and it plays great on my PS3. Actually this is the only FF game where I really did not like the central character although later on he does start to become likeable and more interesting.
Be prepared to put in over 50 hours on this game and that's just one build. For $5 that is an excellent buy if you like RPG's.
I preferred the original "Legacy of Kain" however it did have one annoying feature and that IMHO was the loading times when you opened doors and there were allot of doors.
This is not to say "Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver" was bad IMHO it was an excellent game and IMO well worth the purchase, however I preferred the original over the sequel.
I never recommend pre-ordering unless you really want limited release items. Of course it is your money and IMHO the company "From Software" has never disappointed me yet with their games.
I still have my PS1 King's Field game which is still playable on my PS3 to my 55" HDTV. Sure it looks a little grainy but acceptable and the game-play is still there.
I also have Eternal Rings (PS2) which is not a bad game, however my main nit-pick was th...
Well Sony was completely up front with the costs associated with on-line gaming and even offered fairly good incentives for people to purchase a PS+ subscription.
No one is forcing you to purchase a PS4 much less a PS+ subscription. If you don't like it then you could have stuck with the PS3 or just play off-line games, after-all there are more of them than games with an on-line component.
I think the best way to answer this is to ask the question. "Who pays for your ISP service and how much?"
If you do pay for your ISP service, why don't you let it lapse then you won't need PS+ or XBL Gold or even to play on-line or post to forums like this, then that'll learn them.
Of course if you are only keen on games that don't require an internet connection there are plenty still available and more coming.
I am pretty sure that most people who post on this forum have a PC of some sort that can play anything from low to high end games depending on the PC and it's operating system. So why do so many like console games?
As for PC's being cheaper well that is a matter of debate since there are many factors to consider when deciding to play PC games over console games or the other way around.
I think the words "techno babel" comes to mind or better yet "WTF".
I think the only saving grace? to the whole article was the following. "Will Microsoft narrow down the gap even further in 2015? This is something that remains to be seen."
Basically "waffle, waffle, waffle" and now to cover my backside.
Sigh!!
Of those 70 games there are probably only 5 to 10 I am interested in. For other people there may be more or less then 5 which when you think about it there are quite a few different Genres which should appeal to just about everyone.
For people interested in short games then your wallet is going to feel the pain, however if you like games which take a long time to play (RPG's and some Action/Adventure) then only a few games out of that list will be of interest to you and y...
It does depend on your game Genres preferences. If you like shooters with an on-line capability and have access to a reasonable internet then you could spend quite a considerable amount of time on the game.
Likewise RPG styles of games with or without on-line can be an enormous time-sink with on-line (not my preference) taking up most of your time.
As for plat-formers. This is a mixed bag taking 10 to 30+ hours depending on the game.
Sports a...
Looks like there are quite a few different Genres that will please just about everyone. Of course it should go without saying that you should check the Genres you like and then checkout the reviews.
Personally I like RPG's and because most of these type of games can be huge taking 30 hours or more and sometimes in the 100+ hours I normally limit myself to a couple a year so I can be very picky. With this years line up I am going to have to be very picky although "Blo...
If you have the physical disk deleting and then reinstalling at a later date is a minor inconvenience however a digital download can be a major annoyance since you would have to re-download it and that depends on your ISP plan and the internet in general.
If you have gone for digital downloads I would suggest increasing the hard disk to 1TB at the very least.
If you actually pay for your ISP connection you may want to rethink that statement.
A modern game discounted or not can be in the order of 5GB to 50+GB either on disk or its equivalent digital download. Many ISP's world wide are bringing in caps and/or throttling and even for those who pay for unlimited high bandwidth services they are still limited to the point to point overall performance and vagaries of the internet.
I think you will find this worldwide unless you pay for unlimited download however even this can be a "got you" if there is throttling and/or caps as well.
As an example you purchase a disk with a 49GB mandatory install (eg. Call of Duty and GTA V to name some). That's fine if the data is coming from the disk since it's an integral part of the console, however if that same 49GB has to be digitally installed the download times will be dependent on your ISP pl...
When you say PS1 classics I assume you mean remastered because most PS1 games (I have over 30) look very grainy played via my PS3 (smoothing "on" although I have tried "off" as well - ugg!) on my 55" HDTV. PS2 games (over 60) are IMHO graphically acceptable when played by my FAT PS3 (hardware & software emulation) to my HDTV.
Of course I would expect more and more remastered PS1 and PS2 classics to come out for the PS4 and since you have a 500GB d...
I think that categories of Scripted and Unscripted interactive experiences that you described are far to broad. Basically you have described SIM's (unscripted) such as Minecraft, The Sims ... etc then the rest of the rabble :) as "scripted".
Most games fall into categories or Genres with some overlap as you have rightly said, however most people prefer this since it makes it easier to choose what they want to play. As for the Order I would say it falls into the ...
You are being too nice here.
While I don't have a PS4 yet, I will be getting one in the next few months. Having said that I do like Action/Adventure and/or RPG's with more of an emphasis on the RPG side.
Basically this should tell you that I like games that have long play times usually in the order of 20 hours plus and the more pluses the better otherwise I will buy second hand. Any game under 10 hours to me is not that attractive although I can make ...
> MS should ban the Xbox in Japan.
That would be a great way of insulting Japanese game developers to the point of them banning writing software for the XB1 which in turn would hurt the XB1 in other countries.
It's possible, after all it is a fairly simple engineering issue. The article shows that the product its made with existing components so you would never see a commercial implementation without approval of the corporation that developed those products in the first place and that I can't see happening.
