You can now buy 4k (2160p) HDTV's that are over 55" for under US$1000 and if you just want a reasonable 1080p HDTV's in that size or bigger you can get them for 10% to 30% less.

If people here say that is too much my reply is: Why do you have a PC (you do need a PC/tablet/smart-phone of some sort to view/reply on this site) much less one or more consoles plus games?

Anyone who likes console gaming should be able to afford a 40" or more HDTV ...

I deliberately missed this on the PS3 since I want some justification in buying a PS4. I think Bloodborne (also developed by From Software), possibly The Order, The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition and eventually Uncharted 4 will be enough to convince me to buy, however I am holding out for a bundle or a price drop.

I still have allot of PS3 games I have not finished yet so waiting for a few months is not that bad. Those games I just mentioned will keep me going till sometim...

In Skyrim and also Oblivion you do have "fetch" requests which to me are "Go there and kill that/them". However while these type of requests can eventually be very tedious you don't really have to do most of them although they initially can help open up the map to places you have not been before.

Sometimes in Skyrim and also Oblivion a simple "fetch" request can open up a major quest. Also some so called "fetch" requests were random...

>> The PS4 is one truly underpowered console. Sony should have gone for advancement over profit

Under powered with respect to what?

Yes it's easy to be a want-to-be design engineer (note lower case), however a Professional Design Engineer (ie. A real one) has to take into account the hardware that is available now or a year or so in the future. They also have to consider costs associated with the production of the machine.

Sure it w...

A 512GB SSD IMHO is a waste of money, a 7200 rpm disk will do the job just as well and will only cost 5%~10% of a standard 5400 rpm drive.

As an aside if you want to build your own gaming PC (lots of on-line help for this) then all you need is either a 64GB or 128GB SSD for your system disk. You could even use 5400 rpm disks for your personal data and games although 7200 rpm disks offer better performance and your wallet will thank you.

Still if you really wa...

Well you could replace your 500HB drive with a 1TB internal or you could use an external docking system that uses 3.5" drives. See the following URL http://www.ibtimes.com/ps4-...

Note I did not look all that hard but I think NTFS, EXT4 and FAT (Ugg!) are supported however if they are don't use FAT since it is not a journallin...

The game has been developed by Spelunker HD‘s studio Tozai Games and distributed by Square/Enix in Japan as a free game.

If you like this style of game then this is for you and there is an online component and DLC for those that need (grin) this sort of thing, however there is no mention of this game being translated to English or any other language for that matter.

This game was made by "Tozai Games" and is actually a free game. Square/Enix is the distributor not the developer.

If you like side scrolling, platform adventure games (ah nostalgia) then this game is for you, after-all it is not like it going to cost you any money so you can just take it or leave it.

You are comparing a NES games over a modern game even though the similarity is there. I am all for nostalgia but saying the NES game is better sigh! ...

It is possible to build a reasonable (not the top of the line) gaming rig including a decent monitor for under $1000. That does not cover the cost of the OS or the game unless you are a member of the green parrot brigade. :-)

Buying a gaming rig off-the-shelf usually means it's going to cost you and you may have to compromise.

I think the best questions to ask are, do I prefer console gaming or PC gaming and what are the pros and cons of each. Once you ca...

Well it depends what genres you like. Personally I like action/adventure RPG's and the Witcher falls into this category. Since the game is an A/A RPG 30, fps is usually quite acceptable since a detailed scenery is more preferable to fast action like you would require with FPS's and Racing games

I wonder how many people have a 4k monitor as well as a graphics card capable of driving it at 2160p (assuming an aspect ratio of 16:9) and a game that supports 4k gaming up to 60 fps?

Please consider that everyone who posts on this forum has a PC of some sort that ranges from low to ridicules specs and those who have a high spec gaming rig are in the minority.

Demon's and Dark Souls are single player games however you can get co-op if you are on-line and request assistance for a boss fight. A unique feature of the games is the possibility of your world being invaded, not to mention the messages which you can or other on-line people can write which can either help or hinder the on-line gamers.

I am aware of some RPG's having co-op (example Destiny, WoW and Guild Wars to name some), however I would rather play an RPG solo althou...

Where did you get that information from?

A quick search will show that there is very little difference in the thermal gradient between both consoles. In case you can't be bothered try this web site: http://www.itproportal.com/...

Normally the Final Fantasy games were all new IP the exceptions being FFX and FFXIII (personally I liked FFXIII-2 better - never played the third one).

Not sure why you disliked FFXII since that game allowed you switch between turn-base and active-turn-base at any time (some FF games did have this as well). What I really liked about FFXII was the that you could see the enemy and you fought when you encountered them without switching into a battle area.

While I don't mind turn-base I prefer active-turn-based (switch-able as in FF12) or just action as in Nier which was a JRPG by Square/Enix and IMHO a very good JRPG.

Personally I prefer enemy encounters to remain in the area scenery and not switch into a battle zone as is the case for pretty much all Final Fantasy games (exception FF12).

while I do agree with no lame RPG's although I do think you could be more specific since I have played some pretty ...

Comparing 1980x1080 (1080p) and 1600x900 (900p) both have the same aspect ratio of 16:9 however the 1600x900 is unscaled to 1080p otherwise you you see letter-boxing (ie black bands top/bottom and sides) on your HDTV.

Up-scaling has improved dramatically in the last few years however 900p upscaled will never be identical to content that was natively output in 1080p. That said it can be very hard to tell the difference unless you see the up-scaled contented verses the native c...

>>> Gee, i don't know whats better? a DVD rip or a blue ray rip? Hmm.....

Hmm... It really depends on how the original was ripped. I have seen DVD rips that were actually quite good on a smaller screen monitor or HDTV. I have also seen BD rips that were of such poor quality they were very washed out and uncomfortable to watch on anything other than a small screen.

Normally if you compare a reasonable rip of a DVD and a BD the resulting file size ...

If gamers who own an XB1 or are thinking of buying one (especially a bundle) and like FPS's and have enjoyed the Halo franchise will opt for Halo 5. However if a gamer who has a PS4 or is thinking of getting one and has enjoyed the Uncharted franchise will opt for Uncharted 4.

Since the install base of the PS4 over 18.5 million compared to 11 million for the XB1 at the time I wrote this I would expect many millions more when the Halo 5 and UC4 come out.

If you have ever written software and I have, you should know that it is far easier and cheaper for Sony software developers to optimise OpenGL for the PS4 than for Microsoft software developers to optimise DirectX for all PC architectures and that includes the XB1.

Basically you are saying that Microsoft software developers are better than Sony's software developers. How do you know this, have you looked at the qualifications and expertise of these people?

Zelda 2 had side scrolling in the dungeons, however you could save the game in the overland so in some respects it was easier to beat the game since you only had to go back to your last save (similarly for all Zelda games).

What made some of the NES, Snes, Megadrive etc games hard or very frustrating was you normally had limited lives and if you lost all them you had to start the game again.

If you look at the Souls or even King's Field games you have unl...
