Sony have been saying that you need the PS4 camera for playing VR games for well over a year now. There is no Oops.

Personally I am waiting for the inevitable.

"No one told me I needed a PS4 to use the PSVR"

and

"I purchased a PSVR for my PS3, Wii, WiiU, XBox and it does not work"

Some people can be really dumb.

I do have one PSMove and a PSNavigator which I got for my PS3, however I doubt I will need a second.

From what I can gather two PSMoves would be useful for "on rails" shooters or manipulative puzzle games. For open area games such as FPS, Action/Adventure and RPG's the DS4 or a PSMove + navigator will be fine.

The PSMoves are optional since the dual shock 4 will also work for all games although it may be more appropriate to get at least one PSMove. Of course whether you use a DS4, PSMove or two of them will depend on the VR game.

The PS4 camera is mandatory and I am quite sure that will be fairly predominately displayed on the box the PSVR headset comes in. I would also hope that sales staff are aware of the PSVR requirements otherwise some people are going to be buying two PSMoves...

The best controller Nintendo came out with was the SNES controller which even today is the template for the PlayStation and XBox controllers.

The Wii controller was really a glorified remote which is fine for the casual gamer but can get very uncomfortable with prolonged use. The closest controller to the Wiimote was the PSMove however this controller was rounded and much more comfortable.

You can and should view the PSVR as a display device or do you consider a display device such as a TV or Monitor as an accessory?

I do agree that the PSVR could be considered a non essential device if you already have a display device such as a TV or monitor, however the PSVR can act as a sole display device as well and can also act as an adjunct to more conventional display devices.

I have a feeling that when the PSVR finally launches we are going to see the same thing that happened with the PS4. Basically a sell-out within hours to a few days.

Personally I have never pre-ordered and don't mind the wait and in the case of the PSVR I really want to try it in both game and cinema mode before I make a decision.

Both consoles are underpowered in comparison to what?

To my desktop PC then yes they are underpowered but to a top end PC costing many tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars then my PC is like a four function calculator.

You can go even higher and look at super computers which make even the highest top end PC look like an abacus, of course you are going to be spending a few million dollars on one of these babies.

It's not that easy comp...

There is a recommended retail price for most products and while it is possible to ask for more than the RRP the seller risks being boycotted especially when other sellers stick to or less than RRP.

You don't have to be much into gaming to appreciate having a display device that is literally "in your face".

You can even use the PS4 and PSVR to watch movies on Netflix and other sites that are supported on the PS4. You can even display DVD's and BluRay movies.

To some this is no more different to the PS2 which popularised DVD and the PS3 which popularised BluRay. Some people actually purchased those machine for movies rather then for ga...

The camera is mandatory while the PSMove is optional although depending on the game mechanics the player may find the PSMove the better to game with rather than use the Dual Shock 4.

From looking at game demos having two PSMoves is more suitable to on-rails shooters and manipulative puzzle games while the DS4 is more suitable for open world RPG's and possibly some FPS games.

So do mobile phones which can cost over $800 depending on the phone.

In Australia the PSVR is AU$549.95 which converts to approximately US$410 or CD$546. Even in Australia especially leading up to Christmas stores do offer pretty good deals and I would be surprised if Canadian stores did not offer deals as well.

Basically the bottom line is how much you are comfortably prepared to spend and the value for money that you perceive the item is worth.

Well if you are poor then $300 to $500 maybe allot of money but then again if that price is too much for you then you have more to worry about than playing games.

So display devices should be classified as accessories and should be cheaper than the console. I think billions of people would disagree with you.

Well I personally do have a Desktop PC that will easily work with VR hardware wise, except for one problem, I don't run a Microsoft operating system and I see no need to run one, especially since I have never been a PC gamer.

I also have a PS4 which I would rather buy a PSVR headset for than get a PC VR headset.

The people who will get a PSVR headset just want the ease of plug and play which the PS4 will provide easily. Basically if you want to use VR on ...

Put in fairly simple terms Frames per Second (FPS) is basically what comes out out of your graphics processor. Your display is rated in Hertz which sort of corresponds to the maximum FPS that can be displayed on the screen.

A simple example is if say your GPU outputs at 60 FPS and if your display is rated at 120HZ then you will display an additional duplicate frame for every frame outputted which to the human eye makes the picture appear crisper and less prone to motion blur....

At the distance the actually screen is from the eyes it is almost impossible to detect individual pixels.

It's sot of like bringing out a 4k mobile phone (there actually are some) when it is almost impossible for people with normal vision to detect the difference. Sure you can definitely tell the difference between a large screen UHDTV and a HDTV in larger screen sizes providing the appropriate content is available,

For any type of gaming it is more impor...

I do think you are onto something here. Having a personal huge screen HDTV that is physically small for passive viewing of movies would be a huge selling attraction for some people.

There are many people, my wife included who are not interested in video games yet would love to have a personal HDTV so they can immerse themselves in the movie. We do have a 55 inch HDTV which is great but a display that is basically "in your face" would be even better.

The move controllers are only optional since the dual shock 4 can be used in their place although some games may give a better experience with two controllers such as on-rail shooters and possibly manipulative games.

I would recommend a wait and see attitude since there will be some nice bundles in the lead-up to Christmas.
