Actually the PS4 is UHD compatible since it is fully capable of outputting native 4k content to an appropriate 4k display. What the PS4 can't do is output native 4k game content.

If you have a 4k display which as an aside will be obsoleted soon by 8k displays, you can display a game from a PS3 and PS4 (in fact pretty much all devices that have a HDMI connection) in full screen mode since the 4k display is capable of up-scaling and in many cases smoothing the lower resolut...

Trade and Save?

Is that the same as when you take a game you no longer want to play and trade it in for about a tenth of the price you originally paid for it?

You are correct, 4k gaming requires a 4k display as well as more powerful graphics card that requires a higher spec power supply and exhaust fan and of course an increase in cost. Not any different to what PC gamers do already except the average console gamer does not like to do that.

I do think that some people are like whiny little children who have to get their "shiny" before everyone else and are not adult enough to wait.

Personally I am still playing Bloodborne and The Witcher 3 on "Death March". In addition I have other games on my to do list so I have no problems with waiting.

There is also the additional issue of Uncharted 4 coming out soon that there really is not enough time in the day to play them all, so you...

Using the PSVR with a TV allows other people to also play or view the same game you are playing however they will be interacting with the game in a different way to what the person using the headset is seeing and doing.

It is also possible that other people in the room could actually watch normal TV while the person with the VR headset could be playing a game.

Obviously the PSVR can be played without connecting it to a TV so the PS4 + PSVR + PSCamera + contro...

Actually From Software did an excellent job with the XB1 although there are frustrate stutters they seem to have compensated for this quite well.

The PS4 version is graphically superior and the frame rate is pretty much locked into 30 fps, although unless you are doing a side by side comparison you as an XB1 user probably wouldn't care or notice.

I do think 5m is an over estimate however that figure may be achieved by the end of the year. I do think this depends on how potential customers take to it after they have tried it.

I do think the overall PSVR + PS4 + camera combo will also appeal to people who are more interested in passive entertainment such as movies rather than games, after all approximately US$800 for a virtual display that can be 5 meters diagonal is incredible value for that price.

The PSVR can be looked at as an accessory however I do think you should ask the question "Is your display device be it TV or monitor an accessory"?

Basically the PSVR is a display device which requires a PS4 and camera to fully work. For some people the combo will double as a portable personal massive screen display device for the viewing of games, images and movies and for others VR games as well.

Picking October for the release of the PSVR is quite a smart move for Sony since this is basically the start of the months leading into Christmas.

Having that six month lead time plus the knowledge of pre-orders enables Sony to calculate how many units to manufacture to meet demand so hopefully we won't see the issues that plagued the PS4 release.

Personally I do think day one shipments are going to be sold out to the pre-order people, however the next re...

Surprisingly Nintendo did make a regular controller and one the other console developers copied and extended on. It was called the SNES controller and was surprisingly comfortable after the rectangular hand torture device called the NES controller.

Basically from then on Nintendo tried to come up with a better controller although they did come close with the GameCube controller.

There are two major factors to consider when talking about game smoothness. The first being the number of frames per second (fps) the game is capable of running at and the second being the refresh rate of the display device which is expressed in Hertz (Hz).

Without going into a long complex discussion on this it is simpler to say that a 60 fps game or even a 30 fps game will always look smoother on a 120Hz or higher display compared to a 60Hz display.

Of cour...

Even if some people are not interested in VR games the cinema mode alone is enough to attract many of those people since it would be like having a private display up to 5m (225") portable screen literally sitting on your head.

Sure you will have to pay around US$800 for the PS4 + PSVR + camera but lets see you buy a HDTV that is larger than 80" for under $1000.

The PSVR has a cinema mode which will allow you to watch all 1080p content including games. For VR games the frame rates should be 60fps or higher.

Actually the VR screens are fairly small (approx 6 inches) and for those sizes it would be very hard for the average human eye to differentiate between a 1080p and 2160p (4k) display. What actually is more important for VR is the refresh rate which for the PSVR is 120Hz.

Of course once you increase the screen size it becomes more obvious when comparing 1080p to 2160p (4k) to 4320p (8k).

The PS4 can already play 4K BluRay as well as 4K content, however it can't play 4K games.

Note: I am not sure what version the HDMI cable that comes with the PS4 is but it should be version 1.4 or 2.0 which will allow for 4k content to be displayed.

Obviously if you have an issue then get a HDMI 2.0 cable and use that. Don't be fooled by the hype, HDMI V2 cables are not that expensive and you should not pay more than $10 for a 2m to 3m cable.

I totally agree. Why would Sony provide 4k support when in the case of the PSVR you are only outputting to a 1080p device.

Even providing 4k gaming support for UHDTV's is rather pointless at this stage in the consoles lifetime since the PS4 can already display 4k content such as on BluRay, File and Movie display providers such a Netflix.

As for 4k gaming you need a powerful and expensive graphics card which would require a higher rating power supply and o...

The PS4 can already play 4k content, it just can't output games in 4k resolution.

I do have an very good internet connection and PS+ however all the games I get are single player or in the case of Bloodborne PS+ optional.

I have no intention of purchasing an on-line only game since to me that is just like renting.

With on-line only when services are ended and they will, you have effectively wasted space on your console. Maybe this is fine for people who only play the latest "shiny" but I do like to replay some games at a later da...

All the single player games that I play don't require an internet connection or PS+ for that matter.

I do like Bloodborne and I do use my internet connection to play it, however this game can be played with out an internet connection and PS+ if you wish.

On-line only? Well this is one good reason to save my money by not buying it.

Still if gamers like this sort of thing then fine by me. What next, pay by subscription, DLC, micro-payments and season passes ... ? Oh wait. 😉

The PS4 and XB1 Blu-Ray drives were initially designed to play 4K video so there is no need to upgrade. In fact if you have a Netflix or equivalent subscription you can display 4k movies and if you have a 4k content video file your can even play that.

As for VR well it is best to judge for yourself before making a decision.
