Developers are not stupid they would be fools to ignore 40 million potential customers on the off chance that a new customer base of at the moment zero would rake in the money for them.
Please don't try to liken consoles being upgraded to PC's being upgraded.
Basically most PC's on the market today except for Desktops have limited upgrade paths. Don't believe me then take a look at most laptops.
A laptop can normally be upgraded in memory only by replacing the RAM with a greater capacity RAM and in many cases you can't increase the clock frequency. Normally the disk(s) can be upgraded but this is the case for the PS3 and ...
Here is the PS1's technical specifications. Nowhere in the article does it mention a later over-clocked CPU or improved CD-ROM.

Here is a spinet:

The only changes I can see for the so called PS4.5 is a upgrade to the Bluray player so it can read three layer BluRays which are to be the now resent standard for 4k content.
Also it may be possible that the PS4.5 would have a 1080p up-scaler and smoother for display of games. However all PS4's can output 4k content such as files and images.
As for improved GPU - I very much doubt that since most PC's can't even support 4k games without a powerfu...
Take a look on PSN and see what the price of those games are if of course they are available. You will either have to look alphabetically or do a search. In Australia we can get PS2 games from PSN for AU$11 (IEP 5.79).
It would be great if Sony allowed their emulator on the PS4 to read/rip DVD disk based PS2 games, using the disk as authentication like they do with PS4 media games. Still this may or may not happen in the future. In the interim we do have the option of buying ...
Personally I don't mind paying for a game that I don't have (I do have Dark Cloud and sixty other titles) and in Australia I have noticed that the PS2 games on PSN are around AU$11 (US$8.41) which is IMHo pretty good.
It would be nice if I could play my old PS2 games on my PS4 via emulation but my BC PS3 still works and I can play them on that.
Still I do have allot of PS3 games and some PS4 games which I am currently playing so PS2 games hardly get ...
The PS2 games you can download from PSN do have trophies and I have noticed that here in Australia they are around AU$11 (US8.41) per game which IMHO is pretty good value.
My PS3 does a pretty good job of up-scaling and smoothing however I do have PS2 games that only have an aspect ratio of 4:3 (ie. Standard Definition) and even with some smart scaling on my TV you are still going to have vertical bars on your display. Even getting a PS2 game from PSN which was made for Stand...
I sort of agree with you on this. I do have sixty PS2 games and three of them (Drakengard, Kimg's Field IV and BoF - Dragons Quarter) I still have and can play on my BC PS3.
I think there may be legal issues with a PS2 emulator on the PS4 that can play PS2 DVD disks. Basically there are few ways of doing this 1) Play the game via emulator off the DVD or 2) RIP the DVD to the hard disk and play off that but requiring the DVD to be inserted for authentication.
I actually did enjoy FFXIII and FFXIII-2 although I did enjoy FFXIII-2 more.
As for spamming the auto-attack button in the FFXIII games (was there one??) you really have to be kidding, if you did not know how to heal, buff or de-buff you would not get very far in the game. Sure you could get away with not using magic but the game would be allot harder.
I have enjoyed all the FF games I have played (not played FFIX, on-line or FFXIII-3) however I actually pref...
I don't have any problems with turn-based (TB), active turn-based (ATB) and action RPG's. To me what is more important is the story and and the enjoyment factor which is of course subjective.
Having to micro manage everything can IMHO get boring really quickly however many people think that this is associated with turn base but in reality this is not normally the case since it can apply across all types of RPG's.
Actually having to micromanage in ...
@vanity29
Just curious but what difficulty in TW3 did you select?
If you play on easy and normal difficulties then IMHO the game can get very repetitious since you normally rely on swordplay.
Play on the higher difficulties and especially "Death March" then the game is so much harder and IMHO enjoyable since you have to not only rely on your swords but in crafting and especially your signs.
In addition on "Dea...
I think you must be referring to crafting items which are needed if you wish to upgrade your weapons and amour. You don't actually need to use the "stones" however they do help to give you the edge in combat.
Calling those "stones" silly is probably the same as calling all RPG's stupid for having any crafting elements. I do think millions of people world wide would disagree with you though.
Having a presence even though laughable in Japan gives Microsoft some credibility with Japanese developers.
After-all the XB1 is getting Dark Souls 3, FF15 and exclusively Scalebound just to name three. Of course money does count no matter which country.
Some people may not like VR games which is fair enough, after-all there are plenty of games available for the PS4 which I don't care about. However the PSVR does have a cinema mode as well which will allow you to play and view your PS4 games, movies and pictures.
I will always advise people who are thinking about getting a PSVR to try both the VR aspect and cinema mode as well before making decision.
The main reason why I mentioned both VR and cinema mode...
The PSVR has two modes, one VR of course and the other cinema, which means you can still play your PS4 games and display them to the PSVR.
In addition with the PSVR you can watch movies (BD, DVD or file), display images or even use one of the entertainment services which the PS4 offers such as Netflix. You can even use the inbuilt but IMHO not that great web browser to surf the net.
Personally I have not tried the PSVR or any VR for that matter and I will be ...
I suppose you are or at least be aware that the PSVR can not only do VR but can work in cinema mode as well.
Even if some people are not interested in VR there are many people who like passive entertainment such as TV programs and movies which can be watched on a private virtual screen up to 5 meters in the diagonal.
For gamers you can still play all your normal games on the PSVR.
Taking the above into consideration a VR headset does not actu...
Oh really, then please tell me what display device can produce a private virtual display up to five meters in diagonal for about US$800.00?
Next you will be telling us that display devices such as TV's and Monitors are gimmick's.
Note: The US$800 is basically the retail price of the PSVR + PS4 + camera. The PSMove controller is optional and may not be needed for some games.
Not sure why you got the disagrees. What you have said is correct and if you look around you can get the game plus DLC fairly cheaply and even cheaper second hand.
I do have the PS3 version of "Skyrim the Legendary Edition" so I am not overly enthused about playing it via PSNow.
Still if the 6MB bug is fixed? ... Err maybe not since the fix is to turn off auto saves and treat the game like an old school RPG.
Ah but you seem to have forgotten about 8k which is actually due out this year. Sure it will initially be expensive but it will actually drop in price as quick and possibly quicker than 4k has.
I would love to be reading technical sites probably two to three years from now when the so called PC elite come out with their multi GPU cards just to support 8k gaming at 30 fps. 😉
Basically we are now starting to reach the limits of human senses in gaming an...
