Are you high, a really big fan of MS Paint and/or GamesRadar, or all of the above? This is the worst, unfunny analysis I've seen since the Iraq war coverage. And that's saying a lot.
@Jack: Don't forget Giant Bomb. Jeff Gerstmann FTW.
Funny. I thought of no one else who fills that criteria better than HHG. He gave Lost Planet 2 a 9/10, constantly bashes Microsoft/360 and praises Sony/PS3, said we'd see Bungie's PS3 exclusive at this year's E3, that Bayonetta was actually better on the PS3 than 360, and just outright acted like a douche to whoever disagreed with him. Seriously, he follows this guide to a T.
But how many of those games were as original as Portal? Or as interesting and featured such an awesome antagonist? Sure, CoD4 won awards, Super Mario Galaxy was great and Bioshock...well, I like System Shock 2 better. But it's been a while since a strong breakout title came around, and considering it had no hype whatsoever, Portal still pretty much made a mark on gaming.
This article is dumb, and being on GamesRadar is no excuse for it's below-abysmal quality.
Edit: Seriously, it looks like he used MS Paint to make those "analysis" pictures.
I actually noticed that with your blog. Find it cool that you guys report on Wii sales data, going in depth to look at the sales differences between the 2D and 3D Mario games and the FPS sales on Wii. Keep up the great work. :)
Very generalized list. Could be good as a starter for what basically makes an RPG, but as I said in another post, RPGs are going beyond all this. They're becoming more about games that let you assume a character's role as seamlessly as possible, and various methods, systems and gameplay innovations are done to achieve this.
That's why Mass Effect 2, despite being stripped of a lot of ME's RPG elements and being imbued with tons of action - or Kingdom Hearts 2...
After seeing your exclusives list, and comparing it to the overall tone of the above list, I'm amazed there's no Resistance. So many shooters on that list and yet, neither Resistance title even got a mention.
At times, it's an adventure game, at others a puzzle game. Sometimes it's a third person action game, and it has elements of first person shooting, platforming and yes, RPG level progression with the upgrades for weapons, armour, health, magic and whatnot.
While one may look at it as not being as full-scale an RPG as others, I just found it dumb that they could make such sweeping generalizations about Zelda in general. It just brought to mind how every one looked at M...
I know it's an acquired taste, but man, if I had to buy a PS3 for any one game, that'd be it (because of it's innovations and old-school difficulty). Also, yes it's not called top 10 PS3 exclusives, but I think it's kind of weird when there are so many other great games for PS3 like Demon's Souls, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Modnation Racers, etc. and instead, multi-platform titles are the ones mentioned (CoD4: Modern Warfare, instance).
I just realized there&...
It fits pretty well with Alan Wake and the editing is top notch (great matching to the beats in the beginning). Totally love it.
Four of the games on this list are multi-platform.
Also, supreme thumb-downs for not including Demon's Souls. :|
I don't want anyone to take it the wrong way - the various positive reviews of MGS: PW speak volumes about the game's quality - but I just can't agree with G4 on anything ever since they criticized Mario and called Zelda a "watered down RPG".
Again, I speak not on the quality of this review. Just on their overall logic, in general.
Actually, it was pretty close to being the best title of the year it came out in.

Exactly. Sadly, this being N4G, fanboys will congregate around "Why Uncharted 2/God of War III is the Best Game of All Time", happily agreeing. But when another article on a different game comes out, it's "Well, there is really is no best game of all time" or simply say, "No, it's not! Lol! Dude is trolling!". Sooner or later, the discussion degenerates into personal attacks and sales battles, presumably between PS3 and 360 fans.
Every on...
I'd report this, if only I knew it'd do some good. Oh well.
Let chaos rain.
"its fun, entertaining, hectic, all out games+ game dev wars, fan wars, corporation smack talking, great talents, great persoinalitys etc. I DONT WANT IT TO CHANGE."
If I changed around the terms a little, I'm sure I'd get the tone for the movie, Wall Street. :P
This is mostly a satirical-toned article, and doesn't really mention anything game-breakingly bad. Just the usual annoying stuff. Though, to me, driving around all over the place in ME was quite a drag, especially with the tank's controls. Doesn't mean I like scanning planets either, but meh, lesser evil I suppose.
Seriously, is it media bitching day or something? We got some people complaining about the Microsoft PR, and then Cliffy B criticizing flamebait journalists. Some people will do anything for hits, even it means dragging out an issue no one really gives a frak about (why isn't the media talking about this rumour?! wahh!).
They had me till "Think".
