And I bet Souls fans think this is an amazing idea.

Much well deserved. It's their best game yet.

I completely agree with the statement that if you fall a couple of places, you will probably stay there. It's my main complaint about the game, even more than the mobile game shenanigans.
Getting hit by items is too punishing. Players in the middle get hit left and right, and take too long to recover. Meanwhile, the players in 1st and 2nd place go relatively safe

"Meaningful upgrades can be found all over the place"
As a melee character, I'm almost giving up on exploring and see how I fare going straight through the main route only.
The "upgrades" I find are almost always spells, useless (at least for my build) ashes of war, spirits (that I can't summon because of FP cost or just don't feel any better than the starting wolves), worse armor than what I already have, weapons that are not better than ones...

I tried to like MadWorld, but those black and white graphics got really tiresome really fast. I couldn't even tell what was happening on the screen.
Wonderful 101 was an experience that just didn't work for me. I got it free on Wii U, and even then I don't think that 2 or 3 stages I beat were worth my time.

I hardly ever get something actually useful from exploring, so I don't feel compelled to explore as much as many other open world games.
I get a lot of spells (I'm a melee character), ashes of war (that don't mix with my build and make weapons weaker), different (but not necessarily stronger) weapons that don't fit my stats, armor pieces that are weaker than my current ones, quests don't have interesting plots...
If it wasn't for the items that expand...

Even though I don't like Dark Souls (and Elden Ring is nothing but an open world Dark Souls), I've been trying to like it. 10 hours in, and I still can't find anything that it does better than other open world RPGs like Witcher 3, Skyrim, and even Zelda Breath of the Wild. Even the most crucial aspect of open world RPGs, that's getting stronger and finding good loot (which makes us want to go exploring), is sorely weak. After 10 hours, I'm barely stronger than when I start...

On PC, I managed to turn if off by going in the main menu in-game and saying I want to play in offline mode (although it only works after you restart the game). Fortunately I found it before I completed 2 hours of gameplay, so I didn't refund the game.
Yes, I know you get healed when people like your messages. However, 1 - it feels like cheating. 2 - it's very immersion breaking. 3 - it's still not worth it for me to see all those useless shining stuff scattered on the fl...

I wasn't expecting it to be THAT similar to DS, including bonfires, same level up/stats system, losing the souls when dying, the mist before bosses, flasks, etc etc etc.
I expected some things inspired by Dark Souls, mainly the difficulty and the clunky controls, but I wasn't ready to find a full-on DS sequel. And I think I did have a too high expectation for a better plot since the world was built by George Martin and all, but until the point I played, the thin plot doesn...

That's also its biggest flaw. If you don't like Dark Souls or... the "soulsborne" style, you probably won't like Elden Ring either.
I bought it thinking FromSoftware was making a different kind of game, but when playing it I feel like I'm just playing an open world Dark Souls. And I don't like Dark Souls.

How do I turn off those messages and ghosts from other players? They are so annoying!
I tried ignoring them, but they are bright and all over the place. And when you get near one, a big "Press Y to read the message" pops up on the screen.
I will seriously consider refunding the game if it can't be turned off.

No quest log and no quest markers? Ugh.

I like this style and I think it fits games with less epic plots like Octopath and Live a Live, but big games like Chrono Trigger and (most) Final Fantasies deserve big remakes FFVII Remake style (sans the horrible plot changes mixing timelines and whatnot)

I had zero expectations for FFXV since everything connected to FFXIII turned out very bad (and I hope people know FFXV started as a FFXIII spinoff called FF Versus XIII). And I still left disappointed.
It's not fun at all to explore the areas between each point of interest (towns and quest markers). They're emptier than most of the emptiest open world games I ever played, and getting to quest objectives took too freaking long. So I gave up on exploring and decided to always g...

"Will Become More Solo-Friendly"
I've been asking this since it was released. I loved the world, the story, the mechanics and the job system, but from the moment it made go form parties and go through (too many) dungeons to progress the story and get important things like storage and mounts, I gave up on it. No friends of mine played this game, and forming parties with random people sucks.
I got excited about the Trust system, until I heard it was only for dung...

Epic is 40% owned by Tencent. Tencent has strong ties to the CCP (China's government). It was found that EGS was accessing info in the user's PC that it shouldn't be trying to access.
This alone makes me not want EGS anywhere near any of my devices.

But also, PC gaming doesn't need the exclusivity bull**** that consoles have. Sure, we don't need to buy another machine, but it doesn't make it less bad if that means we need to install and use ...

It makes me worry about the quality of Sonic 2. I feel like every time a movie company says they're working on a sequel even before the previous movie is released, the quality of said previous movie is terrible.

I wanted to love the series, but these games are overly big. In both 1 and 2, I stopped at around 60 hours and I was still so far from the end.
After around 50 hours I tried to rush the rest of 2 to get to the end quickly, but the enemies got too strong, I got blocked by a particularly difficult boss, and I needed to grind for levels and power up my Blades (which for many it involved doing extra quests, which took even more time).
It's one thing to know I can reach the e...

Yuji Naka was a big reason why Saturn failed (it really needed a Sonic game, and he refused to let Sonic team use his Nights engine for a Sonic game, and creating another engine from scratch was difficult because of Saturn's weird architecture) and Sega never recovered from that. So his opinions about Sega having to release games for other consoles don't matter.
