"plus new story elements penned by Final Fantasy VII Remake story and scenario writer"
Ew, no.

Of course it'll be another Dark Souls. Maybe with a different name like Elden Ring (aka Dark Souls 4) to pretend it's another series, but it's not like they know how to make anything else.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 better than Divinity: Original Sin 2? I bought D:OS2 because it was so praised, but there were battles right in the beginning of the game you had to avoid (or enter with very specific strategies to have a small chance of winning), do things/meet people in a correct order to be able to progress, so it felt more like a “if you don’t follow a guide, you’ll have a bad time” more than “go explore and have fun!”.

Even though for some reason I wasn't able to make myself like the game, I did my part supporting them by buying the game 3 times on different platforms. I think not charging an outragerous price and not nickel-and-diming its public does get some good faith in return.
(I bought it first time on PC, but stopped playing it for only being able to save it before sleeping; bought it on iOS for being able to keep it in background and get back to playing it whenever but didn't get us...

Takes the biggest RPG franchise in the world and turns it into an action game with less RPG elements than nowadays' average hack'n slash game.
Gets surprised when a lot of the fans don't like this change.

And than came Tails because just running away wasn't enough. Flying away would be an even better idea.
And Knuckles if he was actually caught and imagined himself climbing the prison walls to escape.
And Amy if he needed to seduce the guards to... ok, I'll stop here :P

Although if a game has a plot so difficult to follow that you would need something like this, I'd rather they try to improve the plot itself. Or how it's presented to the player.
But I do wish this existed in books when I read A Song of FIre and Ice (Game of Thrones). Frequently I had to check previous chapters (sometimes even previous books) to remember who the heck was this and that person.

"the hypotheical examples you have given are pretty ridiculous as you turned them into completly different games lol."
FFXVI has an arcade mode, where you are graded Devil May Cry style. If this didn't convince you FF went too far in the hack'n slash direction, I don't think anything else will.
If this was 2006, FFXII was just released and I said "this is starting to lose its strategic gameplay the series always had, soon they will make a Devil May...

I still think Bravely Default is the real Final Fantasy nowadays, even keeping some FF plot points like crystals and magic names.

"Ff shouldn't be tied down to one specific system."
They don't, but there are things that make up the core of what should be in a franchise, at least the main series not counting spinoffs.
It's like Nintendo releasing a Mario FPS and calling it Super Mario Bros 5. Even if it has mushrooms, goombas, Peach and Bowser, it won't be a main Mario game (even though I'm 100% sure there will be people saying "it's made by Nintendo and has Mario ...

Mine was WarioWare. I think the only system that got 2 main games in the series was GBA (other than sub-games like Snapped or D.I.Y.), so I really wasn't expecting another one for Switch.

Not really. The last 5 numbered titles include two mmorpgs, 13... ok, this one had very few redeeming qualities, 15 was born as a spin off of 13 AND began its life being directed by Nomura so it was pretty much dead on arrival, and 12 had a fun gameplay, but terrible protagonists. And or course, FF7R had those Kingdom Hearts-like plot changes under Nomura.
So, by removing Nomura, not having anything to do with 13, not being a mmorpg, and having protagonists that are actually importan...

11, 12 (and revenant wings), 13 (and 13-2, lightning returns), 14 (the first version), 15.
I said numbered titles, not "non-mmorpg" titles. Although making their mmorpgs as numbered titles is another baffling decision.

If Nomura is not involved in the development, this one actually has a chance of being good.
Anyway, I am still looking for a reason to buy a PS5, but after being burned for 5 numbered titles (and a few spin offs and direct sequels and FF7R), each one (mostly) receiving high praises like this one and me getting disappointed, FF won't be it. I'd rather wait a few years until it comes to PC.

"There's nothing to do when walking around" is a common complaint, but I fail to see this as a big thing when most (all?) open games have this same problem, and to make things worse they almost always happen in forests or rural areas so there's also nothing interesting to see on top of having nothing to do. In Cyberpunk I may not be able to shop at every "store" or enter every building, but walking or driving around is so much more exciting that I hardly ever use t...

That's the main reason why I stopped playing D3, and why I'll never bother with D4. Hardcode mode is the only mode in which I actually have fun in Diablo (without the perma-death there's absolutely no downside to dying), but losing my character because of connection or server issues is unacceptable.

For some reason, Marisa's hair design really bothers me. Both shape and color. They didn't need to be so literal when making it resemble a helmet, and the overly bright color does not fit her at all.

"Why is Sony copying Nintendo?"
Well, this is their modus operandi since the first PlayStation, so no surprises there.

I do agree with all the examples. I wish we knew Game Freak's thought process when deciding the types of Pokémon, if it's random or if there's actually a reason for these strange typings.
