I always praise Game Pass, which I use in my PC.
However, for a couple of weeks already, my games list doesn't load anymore; when trying to run any GP game manually they don't open, and I tried everything, including checking Windows and apps (Xbox, gaming service...) updates, reinstalling the apps by following Microsoft's support page and whatnot. I had trouble in the past with GP, but it was usually just a new Windows update that didn't install itself. That's not...
I'm still bitter for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as King being unavailable since the Wii Shop closed down. It was a unique game, and I can't find a similar experience anywhere else.
Before anyone comes saying "well, you can find the rom on the internet", I already tried to, and although the base game can be found, there's no version with all DLC, which added a lot to the game.
One of the things I didn't like about the demo is how they kept the enemy sounds just like in 2 and 3 remakes: always loud and making it sound like the enemies are right next to you, even when they are far, far away. Some people defend it saying it "raises the tension", but I just think it's annoying.
It doesn't allow players to go to places and see stuff that Capcom didn't want them to. It just allows them to keep playing the village area. So I don't think Capcom would be too annoyed about this.
"That, and I'm not reading through all the primers, that stuff should have been in the game as gameplay or as a cut-scenes or something"
To be fair, last year's game of the year was an RPG with no story or lore told through gameplay and cut-scenes, and everything was hidden in item descriptions in menus. And I see so many people defending it like it's the best storytelling method ever. So maybe the game would be more well-received nowadays. (not by me, though, w...
It was ahead of its time.
Then, having lore and a story told through text hidden in menus was considered a bad decision. Today, an RPG with virtually no story told in actual scenes, no character development, and everything hidden in item descriptions, wins the game of the year award.
Anyway, the main problem of FFXIII is that it was a washed down version of FFX. Crystarium was a Sphere Board without the freedom and not allowing your character to actually get stron...
I think that one of the (many) problems, is that Square decided to bet on many smaller budget games. However, when we hear "Square is the publisher", we automatically expect it'll be an AAA experience. And their trailers make it look like it'll be the case. But when we actually get to play it, it's not in a level we expect from Square.
At least that's what I felt in some of their newest games. Harvestella, especially, which in trailers looked like what Rune ...
I guess Square forgot the old rule of "quality over quantity". I was excited for Harvestella, thinking it would be a "what Rune Factory 5 should've been if given the proper budget", but the demo made it feel like it was even worse than Rune Factory 5, for example.
Even the ones that were actually good, were too niche, like Powerwash and Live a Live.
And when it does come to pc, if it's Epic exclusive, for me it will be like it doesn't exist.
So they should release it as a new IP, or as a spin-off. It's like turning Resident Evil into a... farming sim. I love farming sims, but when I buy a new Resident Evil, I have expectations on some of the core things of the franchise. It's the "burden" of releasing games in a series, especially if it's a mainline game.
Since Bayonetta 3 was a little underwhelming, maybe FF16 will scratch my hack'n slash itch.
For let's face it, FF16 is not Final Fantasy anymore. But it does feel like a fun Devil May Fantasy.
Since it looks like it'll still have lag in single player mode like D3 had, because damage calculation on whatnot is done in their servers, I won't buy it ever. Dying in hardcore mode (the only mode I actually have fun in Diablo) because of lag or other internet hiccups, is just outrageous.
I do think B3 is the worst of the trilogy, but the weakest Bayonetta game is still better than most games out there.
Still on the fence about Bayonetta Origins: Cereza, though. The gameplay is too different from the other games, and I will only get it if I hear it explains a few things about B3's story.
Yeah, we waited for so long for a great Harry Potter game.
And we should really enjoy this one. Because if history taught us anything, is that Warned Bros will take a successful game and make a rushed and souless sequel filled with microtransactions, so this one's probably the best we're going to get.
In my not-US country, passing grades in school are either 6 or 7 (if I remember correctly, 7 in school, 6 in college). So it's not weird for me to consider "bad" anything lower than this.
Actually, by searching how grades work in the US,
"D - this is still a passing grade, and it's between 59% and 69%"
So even in US, a passing grade would be at least in the lower 60. So even though "logically" 5 would be the average, w...
For me that would be great... if I got engaged by the core gameplay. Unfortunately, after 2 hours, I am already kind of tired of it. I don't think Sonic benefited from an open world format at all, and even though the cyber space stages are kind of fun (in spite of some weird controls and bad decisions like the small pause after a homing attack), getting through the open world to get to these stages is not worth it.
I hope one of these updates is "skip the open world and just...
That's great. Quantic Dream took everything they learned from their past games and built the most refined, coherent and interesting game and story yet. I even bought it on both PS4 and PC.
I finished DmC, but did't feel compelled to play DMC5 for more than a couple of hours. DMC5 is still in my "I should try to finish it someday" list, but I kind of always forget it exists...
It's maybe the first mainline Sonic game I didn't buy on release day. I finally bought it on the newest discount on Steam, but I'm thinking I should have waited for a bigger discount. It does feel like it's not really a Sonic game, that it's a "Sonic gets modded in another game" kind of thing. Like Sonic CD failed before in mixing Sonic with exploration, I don't think this game got it, either. But let's see if my opinion changes with more hours of gamepla...
Growing up I heard how Sonic CD was the best Sonic ever, and since my parents refused to buy me the CD add-on, I could only wish I played it. When I finally did it a few years later, I couldn't believe how bad it was. The focus on exploration did not work at all for Sonic, the time traveling mechanic sounds interesting on paper but was badly implemented, and even the graphics felt weird to me, it seemed like Sonic sprites were put in a different game, like a ROM-hack, even the background ...
