Slims are good and bad....

Nice part is they are smaller....

Bad part is that smaller usually means louder and more fans.

I don't think MS focuses on just power. I value the following for a console (n order):

1) Quality of games
2) Power of the console to give me the best experience for games
3) The profile and network reliability and security
4) The operating system/firmware experience provided
5) The other entertainment value the console can provide

For me, both Sony and Microsoft are focusing on all 5. They are a bit to a lot behi...

@STARS
All that article is stating is that Both Ghosts and TLOU2 are going to be Backwards Compatible with PS5... It does not state either will receive an update to be better on PS5.

@jukins
Witcher 3 is receiving a free upgrade for the new consoles and it as a lot older than Spider-man. To me, as a thank you to gamers for games that sold really well (let's say anything over 2 million in sales) on the current gen consoles the developers/publishers sho...

To me the most important thing for consoles is noise. My PS4 Pro I have to turn the volume up a few notches to hear games properly. Same with XBO X when it is playing a game that pushes the machine.

I like that both these new consoles are paying attention to console noise.

All I care about is noise and power consumption. Hopefully both new consoles are good on that.

I live in a place where console heat doesn't matter much. But,...

If they aren't patching Spider-man, TLOU2, and Ghosts, Bloodborne has zero chance.

A few comments....

1) As a gamer, who cares if MS actually "made" the game or they contracted it? I would have one great game contracted out then 10 crap games internally made.
2) As a gamer, I am not sure why I would want only gamers who own a XB, PS5, or Switch to only be able to play a specific game? Makes me think people have superiority issues. "My platform is superior because nobody else can play my games, the rest are crap!".

I don't see MS purchase of Zenimax as an overspend. Per studio they paid less then Minecraft and they now own Wolfenstein, Doom, Elder Scrolls, Evil Within, Dishonored, Prey, Fallout, and the new Starfield IP plus one of the best game engines on the planet in IDtech plus tech for cloud streaming used by many of the streaming companies.

After all these franchises release their next game it is quite likely that MS is making money from the acquisition.

Yes, this is really nice. It gives gamers options and helps gamers manage the lack of space on these new consoles.

I have been downsizing my actively stored games on my current gen consoles for weeks trying to prepare for when I get a new console. I am at 1.1 TB and just can't see a way to go any lower. With active usable space on the XSX and PS5 at 800 and 675 GB I will have to reduce everything in half again to fit on a new console. I have 44 games installed of ...

The video is misleading, as it is only showing from the main menu of the game, it does not include the game load time from the XB UI.

The concern I have is "remaster". EA remastered Burnout Paradise. I was not at all impressed.

I don't want a port to this generation. I want a truly better version of the game. A remade version I would buy and replay. More along the lines of the Demon Souls remake.

I think what the person is getting at in the article is more about innovating by providing more game genres. But, to me it is also important to innovate current genres.

On that account I also disagree with this person. Because as you stated the fast SSD, more powerful GPUs, more powerful CPUs, and more memory will innovate current genres. Also, PS is adding a lot to the controller this generation through there changes.

I do agree with the person on ...

Some games don't need to be dramatically different. They stuck with a formula and the formula was good. Borderlands fans wants much the same game and they got it. They did the right thing by in not screwing up a perfectly good franchise. I don't want to see new Borderlands games like this every 2 years, but once every 5 years would keep me buying it.

As for the next generation... He says, "hard to see that in the initial launch titles". To me, Godfal...

There are far too many crazies on this planet. All this over a game that each person can decide whether they buy or don't buy.

Nobody will live or die based on what Insomniac has done here. These types of threats and behaviors should be persecuted by law. The people making them need help and if necessary incarceration.

@VariantAEC
I don't deny that Insomniac spent considerable effort on making this remastered Spider-man.

But my response would be why? Why not just release the two year old assets on PS5 as a free upgrade rather then spending a year of time redoing 2 year old assets? Sure they look better, but how much better really? Again, the assets made for the game were capable of 4K so why redo and charge gamers rather then just upscale them and not charge gamers?

After seeing Sackboy's Adventure, I think there could be some really good platforming game comebacks this generation. Hopefully Microsoft took notice and brings back Banjo-Kazooie with a nice fresh look!

People set value prices in their head for pretty much everything we buy.

Smart people set the price and wait for the price. It is only hard core "buy on day one" gamers that go and pay the day one price. This will make some people rethink buying on day one, but for the most part $10 won't sway the addicts that buy on day one.

I used to be a day one addict. $10 would not have changed my thought process on buying. The only thing that chang...

Optimistically, Dark Souls 3 has sold 5 million copies on PS4 (They announced 10 million sales on all platforms as of May 2020 Assuming half is pretty much the norm for PS4). Everyone knows that this is a hard core game, not something casuals will knowingly pick up. Not something your typical pre-teen kid will pick up either.

Most hard core PS4 gamers were onboard with buying PS5 very early on in the process after Sony's first techn...

This is just a difference of policy.

XB requires developers who participate in Smart Delivery to retain the game save for both consoles.

Sony does not require this for their free upgrade program.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

I play the souls game as a "fan"... YES!

It is me being a fan of both the story and a test of my gaming abilities. Once the test is completed, I don't return LOL. You can be a fan of a game but never want to replay it. Argueably I have played the sould games about 15 times. That is probably my level death rate.

I would go and buy a PS5 tomorrow if they announced Demon Souls 2 or Bloodborne 2. But, I won't buy on...
