Buried in a fridge that looks like a console.

If only every gamer could be so lucky!

I would buy a fridge like that in a second!

LOL. May pay the price with the girlfriend and kids but, it would be completely worth it.

Actually it may be a good sign or a bad sign.

Are they making the change because now they are on their way to the finish line and things are well enough to make the change....

or

Are they making the change because everything is in chaos and they need new leadership to get it over the finish line.

The article says he is still a Microsoft employee. you would think if it was because of chaos he would be gone from the ...

I wouldn't describe this as a great move.... Any free game is a good move...

Giving PS5 gamers a FREE upgrade for the last gen Spider-man to 60 fps, full 4K, and full ray tracing would've been a great move.

Giving people a game for free that could've been built on the PS2 or PS3 is not a great move.

That is a complete joke. There are good games there. But both console launches are a joke compared to previous generations.

Microsoft is talking to shareholders not gamers. Financial language is a lot different then gamer numbers. This shouldn't even be gaming news. This has nothing to do with gaming.

Do you look at the YoY revenue changes of car vendors? TV vendors? computer vendors? phone vendors? etc... I don't know why anyone cares about this. It says nothing to gamers.

Retail will evolve but never fully close.

I goto retail so that I can see how the actual good will look size wise, and feel. Retail becomes more like an Ikea store. You go through the store to actually see products in their functional settings. Then you move to warehouse or online to actually buy the product.

The only bad part of buying digital is these stupid appstore taxes. Hopefully the courts side with consumers and breakdown these stupid policies...

Ya, the inside the box print and the way you open the box like a treasure chest is really cool. Best box opening of a console I have seen to date.

LOL. Nothing to do with the hardware, games, and services, but very cool opening!

It is so stupid that appstores are driving the functionality in apps.

I can go buy stuff at Home Depot, Best Buy, Amazon or wherever in app. But I can't go and buy a XB game from Microsoft because of the appstore policy.

These appstores are "taxing" digital customers unecessarily.

RIDICULOUS!

I am getting pretty tired of commercials on gaming consoles that don't show a single game in them.

Hardware sales are not a measure of success. If that was true both Microsoft and Sony would be in trouble.

The Wii outsold both X360 and PS3 in that generation yet Wii was not considered the most successful console.

The Switch is obliterating sales paths of PS4 and XBO and is probably on tracking to sell more over the same time period. But, again I don't think everyone feels Nintendo is doing better in the gaming world then Sony.

That is somewhat factually untrue.

They are also committed to Steam, so if you are buying a Microsoft game in the Steam store Microsoft is not getting as much money.

App Stores are going to change wether it be in 1, 2, 5 years. They are monopolies and they are blatant cash grabs by the companies who only allow one store on their platform. Consumers don't get choice when they buy a platform. This needs to change.

I disagree. One of the appealing things to XB now is that when I am in front of a TV I can game with my console. If I am in my den I can easily play the same game carrying my progress to my PC, and then when I am uptown bored waiting for someone I can pull out xCloud on my Android phone and play that same game again there with all my progress.

I have had more time to game now, then I did ever because now gaming is convenient for me. I don't have to be at my console to...

@-Foxtrot
So, what you are saying is consoles aren't worth it if they don't have exclusive games?

That is just wrong.

I have a gaming PC, but I buy consoles. The reason I buy them is simple... They are quick to setup and very easy to manage on TVs. And the price for the performance is real good, saving me the hassle of keeping up-to-date with the latest tech changes and managing my PC build. And finally the game makers target the plat...

I just don't get the logic there. How is it better for the gaming community to buy 2-4 console/PC devices to be able to play every game they may be interested in. Please explain.

Exclusivity may make you feel good at the time, but what if a a few games ship on other platforms that you want to play badly? You end up having to invest in the other platform. I just see no logic in that especially now that MS has 23 first party studios. There are bound to be a few games...

For me, the game is done when it is done. I would rather have a great game experience then a mess that disappoints. Batman Arkham Origins, I played 3/4 of the way thru the game and then a game save bug corupted my save. Haven't bought anything Batman since.

To me Stadia is a perfectly fine idea. But, it should not be the primary way to play. And I really don't like paying for the service then also paying for games.

This is where MS really has it right with GamePass. You play by downloading to your console or PC as the primary method to play.... Then you can play using the cloud system as a secondary method to play. You don't have to buy games. It is a service that encompasses XBL, xCloud, and Games.

I am not sure MS really cares how many copies the game sells with GamePass. That may be important to you.
