The XSS SSD is 36% smaller than the PS5 SSD... Microsoft has stated that games delivered to XSS will be about 30% smaller then XSX games because they are 1440p assets instead of 4K.
This means that there is only a 6% space difference between the XSS and PS5. So, if there is an issue with XSS the same issue exists on both PS5's.
This is the biggest thing holding me back from the next generation of consoles. Ridiculously price storage.

33 divided by 10 = 3.3
2.75 games over an average of a 4 week month is equals one game every 1.21 weeks. That is a game about every 8 days on average. I work a 4 day work week so every weekend is a long weekend and I get a lot of gaming in. I typically don't play multi-player stuff. I typically stick with campaigns and campaign content only so I am not wasting my time MP grinding.

Yes, this is just reddit but $28 seems reasonable. so I was under cutting the drive by $8.... That means Sony is subsidizing the PS5 digital by about $72.

I get that XSS is less percentage in many areas but in computing that is not always a linear cost line. If you go out to buy PCs a 50% less processor is not 50% the cost of the higher one. Same with RAM and GPU.
And really your second paragraph talks to what I want to understand more.... As the gen progresses is these lower specs going to make a difference in game design. Really no one can answer that question with certainty. MS has stated, develop for X...
Sony is a company just like any other. Companies are driven by stock prices and stock prices are driven by making money. All Sony is doing here is taking advantage of their user loyalty to make money. As gamers we need to watch and call them out on what they do. No matter which company it is.

I would think they prefer you to buy the full blu-ray version. The digital version is subsidized by about $80.
Microsoft seemed to figure out how to be clear on their lack of exclusivity.
PS should've been able to be just as clear. Did no one review the content? Or did they choose not to be forthright with gamers?

That price isn't bad for good development studios. Mojang was way more expensive.

MS provides a facility called Smart Delivery and PS provides a facility called Upgrade Program. If a publisher chooses not to use it for one or all consoles that is their choice. Not the console vendor.

Buying full retail games at less than $30 "not soon after release" means you bought them used. I visit used game stores often, and you never see new retail games drop that fast. $50 and $40... yes, they get there quick but $30 and below takes typically several months to get to.

So you need the same SSD space for 1440p assets as you do 4K? Microsoft has said on average the 1440p assets that will be delivered to the XSS are 30% smaller. If you think about that, that puts the XSS storage on par with PS5 which has an 800 GB SSD for 4K assets.
As for the processing power and memory being less, do you need the same processing power and memory if you are processing 1440p resolution then you do with 4K? Nope.

I don't remember seeing a date for a lot of them by Sony yet. I really hope this many games are coming out in 2021 that would drive me to get a PS5. But, I just haven't been able to confirm all of these.
I have the subscriptions and wait for the sales.
There is a core set of fans for any product, religion, or political cult. No matter what changes those people will never move willingly. Then there is the 60% of people that are logical. Sony will start to lose some of the 60% that they have if they keep doing stuff like this.
Sony should be championing the upgrade program... Not encouraging devts to avoid it.
The reality is that if Sony goes and buys a dev or many devs Microsoft will just go scoop up more as well. I don't personally see how Sony's position is so bad here. They have good 1st party studios.
