I think EA has learned their lesson for at least the Star Wars games.
Star Wars Fallen Order was excellent as well.
Rather than coming up with a constant milking business model for games they are starting to think about what business model works for a specific game.
I think FF needs a break personally.
When a game is in its mainline story is on game 16 that is a bit much! LOL.
What I would like to see is starting at the first FF that they remake all of the games in modern technology and to modern standards.
I do want to point out that many vocal people are saying that 4K is a requirement for something to be considered next gen throughout this site. Personally, I don't agree, but there is a vocal group that says otherwise.

I have purchased many of their games. Spider-man, R&C games, Song of the Deep, Sunset Overdrive, and Resistance games.
It is disappointing that a game as successful as Spider-man did not get a simple, free upgrade to next gen consoles and instead they turned it into an unnecessary project using resources that could be making new games.

Yes, they could've just went and upscaled the visuals for 4K, allowed a framerate to 60 FPS, and turned on hardware ray tracing. Didn't have to make it into a project where they charge consumers unnecessarily.
I don't know what the logic was there, except... "Let's come up with a way so we can charge gamers for the update".
I am excited about this game coming out of preview. Won't play it until then.
I want story, game universe, HUD, RPG element, game size, game scope, and gameplay details!
Last time I checked we buy consoles for new nextgen games not for their looks.
So, on both counts XB Series lacks right now!
And no XB fans.... Backwards Compatibility does not count as new games for this generation. Although I am happy they have found ways to improve the look and feel of BC games.

Looks interesting. Screenshots really tell us nothing about the actual game or story. People are spending far too much time analyzing this stuff. Wait for official information that are facts rather then backdoor rumors and screenshots please.
Honestly, you are comparing a company who's livelihood has based on selling OSes for about 40 years. Against a company that got into OSes because of games. Not really a fair or even comparison. Microsoft has some of the most advanced OS engineers on the planet.

1) There has been no stated timeframe for R&C yet
2) The demo looked amazing... They had a bunch of environments that they warped too... But it really was just the first few minutes of the game demo. That doesn't mean all the other levels and designs are flushed out yet.
3) R&C, Horizon, and GoW in one year would be expecting too many large AAA games from Sony in one year. I think they should spread out R&C farther

You think MS gives any time to the "Xbox Investors". Xbox is a zit in Microsoft's finances. MS has stated that the XB world is not a world that they make a ton of money on, but it drives innovation in Windows and other MS businesses so it is strategically important to be there.

To me, if a game doesn't work in the future on PC then it is not BC whether it is because of drivers or OS upgrades or whatever it really doesn't matter to me, it just won't work. Yes, there is often ways to make it work but not always, and sometimes making it work means you make something else not work. It is kind of a whack-a-mole situation.

I don't see this feature alone as a game changer. To me, as we go forward we are going to see that both Sony and Microsoft have great games. So then they will have to start differentiating their offerings. Microsoft is jumping on that with GamePass, but they also spent the later half of the last generation and early this coming generation in making console features to improve the overall gaming experience.

If Sony were to react with their own acquisition spree MS would again react and it would be a never ending cycle. MS felt they needed to do something and did. If Sony does the same it would just trigger MS to do the same. And everyone knows if this turns into a competition on buying studios/publishers it is obvious who will win that one.

Forza Motorsports 7 has licensing agreements for the different car manufacturers. Forza Horizon 4 was the first game where they took GamePass into account for that licensing. Forza Motorsports 7 did not take that into account. I would expect MS looped back to the car manufacturers and negotiated a model for GamePass.
This is going to be the last generation where pre-ordering is a problem.
Now that both Sony and MS are doing some next gen games on both the current and next gen consoles, people will get more into a routine on buying consoles like we buy computers, tablets, and phones. You will buy them when you feel you need the newer version and there will be more newer versions. I expect console refreshes every two years at a minimum now.
As with the PC that is entirely up to the developer. There are PC games that are not BC as well.
I have even found that some games on 360 don't even work on 360 anymore.
But you are right... I have a few hundred 360 games that I would love to come to BC.
Bloodborne 2 would be a system seller.... A Demon's Souls 2 would be a system seller.
A remade Demon souls is not a system seller. I have zero desire to to do the same story again, dying so many times. I am now about 10 years older then last time, and probably smarter at these types of games because of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. But, I don't want to put myself through that again. At least not to just see the same story.
