As many often say....
The sales of Bethesda games over the past 15 years tells us that your opinion is not the opinion of the vast majority of gamers.
I will agree that Fallout 76 was not the best game they could deliver and its commercial model was horrible. But that is just one of their games. The Wolfenstein reboot was awesome, Doom reboot awesome, Evil Within IP awesome, Elder Scrolls IP awesome, Fallout excluding 76 is awesome, Prey awesome.... Th...
They got a Japanese studio from Bethesda...
Tango Gameworks.
Again, as usual there is not a single fact to backup your argument.
2017 - First year of GamePass.... No really good first party games
2018 - Second year of GamePass... Release Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Forza Horizon 4 - Overall quality and quantity improving
2019 - Third year of GamePass... Releases Crackdown 3, Gears 5, The Outer Worlds - Overall quality is improving, quantity the same
2020 - Fourth year of GamePass... Releases Ori a...
With the current state of xCloud vs Stadia there is a good chance that Google does something. Same with Amazon.
I don't see Stadia improving its market share until they have a bunch of must-have games. They are now too far behind to improve their situation so they will either have to fold or buy.
Amazon is in a bit different position. They can put gaming into Amazon Prime as a service. But, they don't have a lot of third party support, so it...
@Babadook7
Honestly, it is comments like this that we don't need:
"PS5 is still the more innovative hardware and will still have the better games"
To date, nothing shown on either the PS5 nor XSX has shown either console as better then the other. So, how is the PS5 hardware more innovative?
And we aren't seeing any real next generation games so how is the PS5 games any better then XSX games? And when I say P...
Ya, the best article i saw today was about what games all the 23-ish Microsoft/Bethesda studios were working on. That was actually interesting.
Not trash talking any console. Gamers have to get out of the fanboy talk and move onto gaming...
And if that is your preference that is fine too.
No team is "winning".
Whether it be Sony or Microsoft. We should all just be gamers and look for the things that provide gamers the most choice, the best value, and above all the best games. None of that has to do with being on team Sony or Microsoft or whoever.
That is ridiculous.
90% of games that ship in the first two years of any console cycle are based on game engines from the previous generation.
Spider-man MM, Horizon Forbidden West, etc. it is just dumb the concept that they can only ship games on the new console. The reality is that nothing is holding back next gen games except the time to create them. Hardware was finalized for each console in probably around May. Developers take at least two years a...
The reality is finally stated.
Generations of technologies are still here, but the idea of a generation dropping the previous generation completely and being only go-forward is a thing of the past.
Future generations will be more and more like PCs.... I buy a PC in 2020 and it is usually good for up to 10 years without replacing. Rather then the panic pre-orders we've saw this past week with XB and PS, we will see people buy new versions when they...
Really this is a big thing for GamePass and xCloud.
I for one didn't by Doom Eternal yet. Can't wait to play that!
And now all future games from all those studios will be day one on GamePass.
Why would buying a developer be considered anti-consumer.
Sony bought Insomniac? That wasn't anti-consumer. I am not sure in any of the development studio buy-outs if I have ever seen someone say they are anti-consumer.
When a first party buys studios it is natural fans of the other first parties will be disappointed.
@ssj27
There are a ton of assumptions in your post.
First, there is no difference shipping a game piece by piece then shipping it every 2-3 years in a bundled plan of complete games. So, what difference does it make? If you have a problem with that, just play it when the "episodes" are complete.
Second, the business model is nothing about shipping a quality product. GamePass has been offered by MS since June 2017. During that time, ...
@IRetrouk
This is the same problem on 3 of the 4 new consoles. The PS5 ships with 500 GB but delivery of assets will be in 4K. which is about 30% larger than the 1440p assets that will ship to XSS for each game. The storage for the XSS is equivalent to what you have on both PS5's (800 GB) so if storage on XSS is a problem, then it is the same problem on PS5.
My take is that storage is a problem on all these consoles. If I was considering buying one, expansi...
Really MS was pretty smart here. Bethesda is a private company not a public one. This makes a purchase much easier because they are only dealing with a few owners, and not every person who owns shares.
Also, the cost was probably more reasonable because they are private. Again, MS has mad a few people billionaires probably!
Yup, everyone in Bethesda as soon as the announcement came, booked holidays for the next 15 years.
Innovation is now automatically dead.
Cue the next gen remaster of Skyrim....
Called Super Skyrim Remastered.
To be followed up with Ultra Super Skyrim Remaster in the next following generation.
It really depends.
You could just subscribe to PSNow or GamePass and decide not to buy games anymore. Both services have a ton of good games to play. You are limiting the games you are willing to play then to the services, but at the same time there is enough quality there that you can do that and still feel fulfilled as a gamer.
As for buying discs there is also the matter of storing a massive amount of physical discs. I got to 5 full height Ikea Bill...
Yup, each store will have 1 high end console and 1 low end console and there will be 500 people in line for them. Choose your store wisely!
