Yes, Sony is synonymous with Yakuza and Atlus. But that doesn't mean that porting the games over with a big bag of money is a bad strategy. GTA was a PS franchise until GTA IV when MS bought DLC timed exclusivity. Yakuza Like a Dragon was the same move and it was smart. Now GTA ships on XB pretty much equally with PS. Going forward, Yakuza will probably always be on XB too.
Tomb Raider was a franchise left for dead until MS saved it, so Sony isn't the only ones...
@roadkillers
I think the word is more unique.
Weird, blocky levels, different way to tell stories, and very abstract is not niche, it is different.
Niche is a limited audience game. I don't think Remedy is trying to limit their audience. I think they are trying to be unique and different to stand out and be less generic. I applaud that.
Ya, I really hate developers setting expectations like this. They are much better off to say, "we feel confident about the quality of this game".
It is pretty difficult to find a game now-a-days where the concepts have not been used in another game.
@CaptainHenry916
User reviews on Metacritic are completely unreliable.
Case in point, The Last of Us Part II user reviews - 37,161 positive reviews, 4,329 mixed reviews, 35,380 negative reviews. Pretty much a 50/50 split of reviews for the GOTY in 2020. Metacritic User reviews are not at all trustworthy.
This is clearly a development issue or bugs in the OS. XB One had no problems with 60 FPS racers. Never mind taking a two generation old racer and making it run on XB Series.
Ya, I remember this sort of conversation with Kinect. Something like, “Imagine how ridiculous you’d look and why don’t they focus on great games”
Ya, GTA V has been a simple port for two generations now.
PS3/X360 to PS4/XBO to PS5/XB Series.
There should not be exclusives. Exclusives are a marketing construct not a gaming construct.
Gamers on any capable platform should be able to play any game.
LOL. FF VII, The story game that just keeps making you pay for more.
Must be nice, Movies Anywhere is not available in Canada.
Ya, I jump around a lot for many of the same reasons but between XB, PS, Switch, PC, Tablet, and Phone. There are a bunch of things that affect what I use.... Mood, Games, Time Commitment, At Home vs Travelling, etc.
Here is a real simple formulae....
Simulations and non-fictional games need to strive for accuracy. Fictional works only need to be as accurate as the developer wants them to be.
Ya I was thinking more of games that didn't get the sales they should've. Not a bunch of AAA funded games that didn't live up to game quality expectations.
To me, all those games were flops because the developers put them out too early or had a bad economic model for them. Those are all things that should've been addressed with longer development or talking to gamers about their economic models.
To me, a game truly worth saving is an u...
I am optimistic but will wait and see first. Too many times have bought hot wheels games only to be severely disappointed.
Yup really surprising isn't it?
In other news today is the day after yesterday.
I actually think the trees look mostly the same. It is almost like they are using a form of cell shading on them. Something like in Everwild.
I just don't get why a 4K dashboard is so important.
It is like the shallow person in the room who only cares about how everyone looks. If you are paying attention to the dashboard then there is something wrong.
Ya, who really cares what the dashboard looks like? You are supposed to be playing games, not playing the dashboard. The faster you get in games the more you are playing hopefully.
No
@Aussiesummer
The graphical upgrade from PS3 to PS4 was done with graphical assets they probably created in high resolution for the PC version. Developers use the same graphical assets across all platforms.
Sure there was probably some engine optimization but to call it a large development effort would be a lie. Same with the jump to PS5. Again there are probably improvements, but the PC version was already 4K/60 fps fully on high end hardware years ago.
