Gamers buying retail games does not drive the quality of games they make.
There are games that were not expensive to make that made billions and there are games that cost 100's of millions to make and lost 10's and 100's of millions of dollars.
Game quality is based on a development studio estimating the cost and effort to build a game and then getting the funding to support that effort. GamePass is only providing a different way to fund the ...
I wonder if they are going to give this boost to PS5 titles. PS5 is clearly capable. I just am wondering if they put these titles in legacy support or are they going to try and keep them moving forward like they are doing on XSX.
Restructurings are by definition changes. Some people like the changes, others leaving willingly if they don't agree, and yet others are asked to leave.
You can't judge books by their cover. You shouldn't judge studio restructurings until they deliver their next product. That will tell us everything we need to know about the changes.
Perception of position and actual position are two different things.
XB Series is selling well. They used the same OS as previous gen and outside of a 4K upgrade it is seen pretty well by most XB owners (People that actually own XB, not the people that say they do and don't). And they have 23 first party studios. Most have been finishing projects started before they were acquired. But, now those studios are completing their pre-Microsoft obligations and will be deli...
As someone who has played games since 1977, I see that companies go through dark periods and periods where they hit on all cylinders. Nintendo has done it (Complacency when Sony released PS1), Sony did it (first years of PS3), and MS seems to be coming out of their dark period (XBO fiasco) now too.
If you read the article this is not MS talking. So, to me it is a rumor. I only listen to what these companies actually do. None of them are angels and none of them have alwa...
That is pretty much what I thought when I saw the title of the article. No way I am buying this anytime soon.
I get that they were going for the holiday sales. That is just good business
@UnholyLight
I have no problems with the events and how Microsoft did or did not hype them.
I have a problem with fans saying "What a week for Xbox gamers" and going on some wild comment about how microsoft is so great. They are a company and are after gamer's money. That is all they really want.
When companies are bought out, there is not much that can be done about contracts if the buying company decides to be a prick about it.
MS could've said too bad, and what are you going to do about it? But, they are smart, honoring the contract helps them look good and ensures they get good sportsmanship points from competitors. They would expect the same if Sony was to buy out a similar company that was about to release an XB exclusive.
@Neonridr
I had no expectations this week. And it was good, but nothing really great happened.
I disagree. The Spider-man exclusives on PS are the only Spider-man games worth playing. They are very good.
I am not mad you are deciding not to buy the game, I just thought you might be a gamer.
A gamer assesses games based on the game, its quality, etc. Not which company makes it.
Just disappoint that this site allows non-gamers to stay here.
That is quite a bit of hyperbole.
This week we saw:
1) Finalize a deal that was announced last year and was expected to go through
2) 20 Zenimax games come to gamepass. Pretty much a given when the deal came thru
3) FPS boost for Zenimax related games, again not so shocking.
There was not a single new game or gameplay from a new game showed this week.
@majiebeast
I am not sure what you are talking about with Falconeer and Medium because neither is a Microsoft published nor developed game. (Guess that tells us all that you know nothing about Microsoft, but regardless).
Grounded is in preview so it is obviously not final quality otherwise they would've shipped the game. (Again, your lack of knowledge, attacking a game that isn't even shipped as a final game is saying that you don't own an XB and real...
Switch is just insane. Goes to show that form factor experience is more important then the latest and best tech.
Nintendo just nails form factor experience. Wish Sony and Microsoft were as smart about the form factor experience.
I still think PSP was the best mobile gaming device ever. Wish the both Sony and MS would both try and participate in the mobile gaming space from a hardware perspective.
MS has been working on quality. I think it is increasing but they have a ways to go to compete with Sony and Nintendo.
@Deep_Space_One
You are the fanboy. No one decides to buy games based on the company that funds them other then fanboys.
That by definition is fanboyism. Not paying attention to the actual game, but rather the company that backed its creation.
You are the fanboy, not a gamer.
So if the game is good you are not going to buy and play it? If that is how you approach buying games, then you are not a gamer. Gamers buy good games. Doesn't matter who owns the company that makes them.
On the flip side you are probably one of those people who thought that Days Gone, Order 1886, DriveClub, and Destruction All-Stars were great games because Sony backed them. Yet Sea of Thieves, Bleeding Edge, State of Decay 2, and Ryse were absolute crap because th...
@DJStotty
I will use the definition that they were not created for an MS game and they had more then one successful game before being purchased by MS or they had a massively successful game before they joined MS:
inXile - Established developer known for Wasteland series
Obsidian - Established Developer that worked on many well rated RPGs
Rare - Highly Successful established developer
Double Fine - Established Developer

There are times when PC gets stuff before console.
Flight Simulator and Gears Tactics are perfect examples.
I would expect it on PC GamePass a bit later on.
