I would argue the definition of exclusives is shifting. Exclusive only meant one platform for a long time, but now it can be more then one. Console fans are getting more and more desperate on the definition of exclusivity and now calling it console exclusivity more and more because PS is shipping more and more games on more PC too. Of course XB has been on PC for almost a full generation now.
There are very few games that only ship on one platform exclusively now (Outsid...
I am looking forward to this game. So far sounds unique and enjoyable, but I will wait til I see reviews or actually play it.
I am not sure that high revenues, profits, being sold out, etc. are a measure of whether a company should attend industry trade shows.
When I look at it, I look at it from a brand building and gamer mind share perspective. From both those perspectives, I am not sure skipping is all that great of an idea.
Or.... Lets put the question this way.... By not attending did that help Sony get new sales from people looking at what console to buy, or by not atte...
Although your question is legitimate, that is not really addressing the topic.
To me, there are people who have some physical or mental reason why they cannot finish games and progress through the whole story. If you consider gaming an art, there should be no reason why those people should not be able to enjoy that art through these settings if the developer so chooses.
For the people that are competitive and like to brag about what they have completed.....
Translation.
The game is in really unshippable state right now, but we will ship it 2 months later and it will still be buggy but not as bad as if we shipped at start of September.
I have a 10 acre property out in a rural area. Installed Starlink and now I have fast but a bit latent high speed internet. Two months later one of the wired internet providers came around and apparently they are bringing fibre to our area. By fall I will have 1.5 Gbps! Have already started to work on a good mesh network for the full 10 acres, installed some smart home switches for lights, Internet cameras, Sonos speakers, and have two consoles (PS and XB) there.
Can...
I am going to wait a bit to see feedback. Also, I watched the digital foundry video on this device. Seems like it is comparable to a XSS. I thought all along that the main reason behind XSS is so MS could release a Switch-like handheld based on it. Looks, like the Steam Deck proves that may be true. In a year or two we may also see a XSP? Also, Steam Deck seems to support installing Windows. If that is true I can buy it, install my Steam games and xCloud stream.
Look...
I kind of laughed with your post. Not because it is wrong. But usually after E3 we are saying with XB where are the first party games?
This year. So far, there is really only one first party game from Sony coming out for the rest of the year. Horizon Forbidden West. On XB they have Sea of Thieves Expansion, Pschonauts 2 (will eventually come to PS4), Forza Horizon 5, and Halo Infinite.
And XB is still strong with day one releases for third parties on...
@dbcoops
NPD reports dollar sales, I don't think they report actual sales.
(I may be wrong).
@VariantAEC
Seems like both are doing good to me.
And Sony does not sell expensive bundles?
And you have to remember XSS is $100 cheaper then PS5 digital.
It is good that we have three very competitive console makers this generation. And the nice thing is all three have strengths and weaknesses so gamers can choose what best suits them.
Or like me, buy all three!
Ya, we have to be careful not to build it up or knock it down at this point. Proof will be when we get a lot more gameplay or when the game actually ships.
And don't forget they were key on Recore as well.
It didn't get the best metacritic ratings but the game was at least average in my books.
People are very fixated on console sales but really they don't mean that much. For some reason people seem to think console sales are important.
You don't keep track of sales for blu-ray, car makers, appliance sellers, food sellers, etc.
Would someone please inform me of why console sales are so important? What is gained by tracking them, and how does that really change anything other then to say "I bought the console with the most sales&qu...
Before Cyberpunk I would've agreed with your definition.
Now, I do agree that indies are independent. But to me it is independent to make their own game design and monetization models that are not overseen or driven by an external influence.
To me, a studio owned by a publisher cannot be an indie because there is always the chance that the publisher jumps in and makes game design decisions for monetization, etc. But, a self-owned studio also canno...
@blacktiger
Ummmmmmmm....
Please educate me, I am not sure how blockchain (a crypto technology) fits into ISPs owning you. ISPs provide connections to the Internet. In the USA they have commercialized the connections with things like throttling, etc.... Blockchain is not an alternative to ISPs. Blockchain is a technology for audit and security I thought?
@CrimsonWing69
I have been playing Final Fantasy since the late 1980's. I will agree that their releases are diverse and they change a lot of the dynamics and explore different stories. But, After over 15 mainline games, I think any franchise needs a break. LOL. People talk about Uncharted and Halo needing breaks and both those games have 4 and 5 mainline games respectively.
Final Fantasy was released in 1987. That is 15 games in 29 years with FF XV releas...
I respectfully think you are wrong.
There are a lot of people that have a lot of problems playing and finishing games. Not because they are bad at gaming. But because they do not have the physical abilities.
Examples... People who can't control the shaking of their hands at times, people with limited hand and wrist mobility, One handed people, people that cannot translate their thoughts to actions quickly, etc.
I am fortunate to ...
There are just as many Sony "propaganda" articles as there are XB ones.
And Sony was driven by MLB not a desire to ship games on XB. If they had the option MLB The Show would still not be on XB. And if you don't think that is true then why are they passing up XB only gamers in not shipping their other exclusives on XB?
