To begin with media is a consumable not an asset. Tomorrow they can stop making CD Players, Blu-Ray players, etc. and the media would be worthless when your player dies. Media is just a mechanism to deliver the entertainment art. Every time I buy a game digitally, I download it to a special set of storage hard drives. So that if it is de-listed, I can still bring it back. That is just as good as owning a media disc.

Also you don't own anything when you buy the medi...

No one should be surprised. Call of Duty is over 150 GB. Forza Horizon 4 was 85 GB last time I saw.

Should not be surprised that both Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite together may be around 200-300 GB.

I think Satya felt that if they were going to commit seriously to gaming it needed to report directly to him. Satya has turned everything at Microsoft around. In every one of Microsoft's businesses they have all improved and are becoming more consumer friendly since Satya took over.

Phil has played a big role on the gaming side, but he could only play that role if the CEO let him.

And there is where GamePass is a big win for certain developers. It provides a platform that guarantees distribution of their game and enough money to break even it sounds like. Many game developers did not have that before GamePass.

I don't think GamePass is for every game and every developer. It is one of several models that can help sell a game. And anyone that believes that game developers are rolling in cash because of GamePass is mistaken. ...

I think this is a Microsoft change and not just a Phil change.

You look at things like changes to approach on Windows, MS Office, Azure, Gaming, and MS Surface devices.... Microsoft has figured out that listening to and targeting the consumer's needs help them improve across the board. This is not just an XB change. And I would credit Satya just as much or more then Phil.

Doesn't really mean much. First, Nintendo launched Switch in March vs November for PS5 and XB Series so you are aligning different times of the year when you align weeks since release. Secondly, it could also be a stock availability thing limiting trajectories.

Yup. Microsoft says something and it is picked apart like a dog eating the last hair of meat on a bone.

Sony says it and people think it is "innovative", "the right way to do things", and any criticism is met with "how dare you say Sony did something wrong".

None of these companies are friends to gamers. They are companies and are looking to take the maximum amount of money from us with the least sp...

Yes, that is fair. But if they wouldn't have shipped a sub standard game to begin with they wouldn't have had to fix it. This is just happening far too often now-a-days and gamers are becoming complacent with it.

The more I see of what they are doing the more I feel this game is just a big work in progress that people paid for.

So, to be successful you have to sell just as many as Sony? What about Nintendo? That ratio is more 3:1 or 4:1....

Number of sales of consoles is not the entire "gaming market". There are just as many PC gamers as there are console gamers. And there are even more mobile gamers on phones. Console sales are only one significant part of gaming revenue.

Microsoft is a powerhouse in gaming not because of their sales or GamePass but more about ...

tbh that is a common trait to most gaming media sites.

Honestly, I just don't like pre-calling GOTY before a game is released. That is just like saying Team X will win the world series. They have to play the games first and anything can happen.

At $70 per game, I think day one buying isn't for a lot of people anymore.

Sorry, I have hope.

Looking forward to the next Star Wars games, Dead Space remake(s), and the next Dragons Age. Also looking forward to more Codemasters racing games.

I don't think so. It will get a decent audience. I think VR has to get cheaper and better though.

1778d ago 2 agree7 disagreeView comment

VR has been around for decades and still has yet to hit mainstream.

1778d ago 3 agree7 disagreeView comment

Until the price of VR drops to $100-150 and it is better then it is today, VR has no hope of becoming mainstream.

And that is the problem. VR is too expensive for what it really is today.

The best two CoD games were the original Cod Modern Warfare and CoD Black Ops. The others have built on those or not met those.

If it is so bad then why are so many games going onto GamePass?

You should maybe support your post with something called "Facts".

I have no clue how much each developer is making, but for a new game by a new developer to go straight onto gamepass they must be at the very least have gone into it knowing they would break even.

So what?

PC has GamePass and The Ascent is there too.
