Correction:
A great game should be a GOTY contender no matter who makes it and what platform(s) it ships on.
The problem I have right now is that people a calling it a GOTY contender and not a single gamer outside of the media and the developers have played it yet. It is looking good, but until it releases and gamers fully experience it I don't know why people are talking like this. A game should only be a GOTY contender when it is ACTUALLY RELEASED...
It is good news that two games that aren't full of mtx are selling well.
I am ok with that if they take the approach they did in Diablo III. If they do subscriptions or passes that don't work forever I am out. One thing this does guarantee for me is that I won't be buying it day one until I know their monetization model more.
Unlike your post, developers pay attention to potentially offensive things now.
There are a lot of people out there that were forced by a prominent figure in their lives to do sex acts. When they see that stuff they get a unwanted chance to relive those memories. You may have been brought up in a safe environment but many people haven't been.
While you probably think this is being overly sensitive the reality is that offensive content is offensive c...
There are a ton of franchises that have bi-yearly games. EA is not the only one thinking wrong.
Lol. The game isn't even released yet.
Ya, I think R&C is tops so far. Returnal a close second. I was shocked to see RE on the list. I felt it was very average.
I am a big fan of dual stick shooters and RPGs but this game is doing very little for me. Gorgeous game and mood. Average everything else

Yes. When a game hasn't even entered production yet and it is AAA, then it is at least 2-3 years away. Games in production are 1-2 years away. And games being tested and showing full gameplay are usually within the year.
Games today are big efforts like movies. They don't just magically appear in a few months.
I would guess fable in2023, elder scrolls Vi in 2024 and avowed around 2025 and outer worlds 2 around 2026
I do agree PS5 is currently leading XB. And what you said about why is also true.
But, neither are killing it for games yet. They both are starting the generation with very little new. The only real new IP by either as of the end of the year for first parties is returnal. And returnal is a solid game, it is no GOTY for me.
To me it is sad that we are 9 months into the Gen and all we've really seen is more sackboy, Demon's Souls, Spider-man, R&...
LOL.
At those prices I will take a hard pass. 2TB is more then I paid for my digital PS5. With 4TB I could go and buy two PS5's. Assuming I could find them.
This is ridiculous. The price of these drives on both PS5 and XB needs to go down a lot before extra "fast" storage is viable on these devices. I don't care what their performance is, this is simply ridiculous. I see why both devices have faster NVMe drives. This is all about...
How do you even know it is an Azure issue?
There are a lot of games already on Azure working just fine. Usually this is about code. Fix the code and it will perform just fine.
Ya, this is news because it is happening, but is anyone really surprised?
They test a lot trying to simulate the load, then the real load is tested and reality takes control.
This is why they do these pre-tests. So, that this is not a real Day One launch issue.
Yes, it is nice to see. It only took almost a year.
To me, this is a diversity game. There aren't necessarily millions that want to play it, but there is a crowd, and on consoles you can only play it on one console.
Returnal is much the same. It isn't a massive crowd, but if you wanna play a rogue-like game, you can't get that on XB Series as next gen title yet.
LOL.
Sony releases something different like Dreams.... Wow, what innovation!
Microsoft releases something different with Flight Simulator.... MS haz no gaem.
Seriously. This may not be a game subject area you are interested in, so the big question I would have is why bother commenting? Personally, I spent a few hours on PC with it, and it was kind of cool. Not something I will play hundreds of hours, but definitely something I will...
I have high end PC equipment too.
I like consoles because:
1) I just plug them in, turn them, on and they are ready for games
2) They have a nice user interface for the TV
3) I don't need to use keyboard and mouse - Just pick up easy to use controller
But, I do prefer playing strategy games on PC because the consoles don't have a s rich of UI for them.
Also, though i work in tech, so sitting...
@therapeutichawk
I am just speaking based on my experience.
I would normally have bought more games the past year, but when I looked at the shipping games I felt there wasn't enough innovation to justify buying the games until they are much more discounted. I have a ton of backlog and just felt buying hardware was more important then me buying games.
I ended up buying the new hardware because of the faster drives. I spent about $3,000 betwe...
@kayoss
I do see your point. But there are three things different now then in the past...
1) All three consoles sell enough that no 3rd party can really ignore any of them.
2) The development and marketing costs for games has risen to a point where most 3rd parties have to ship on all three consoles
3) The hardware of all three consoles is based on PC world. It is not as hard to port games on different consoles anymore because of that
Mass Effect had 4 games. One was a stinker and everyone talks about the one and not the other three.
EA experimented a lot to start the last generation and most of the experiments were failures. But, since Star Wars Fallen Order it looks like they have got everything back on track and are going mostly in the right direction.
