I don't think this generation will surpass last generation. The big issue is that consoles last generation had new appeal to casual gamers. This generation, none seem to have captivated the casual crowd. So, although sales are strong up through year 3, we will start to see things slow down more than normal in year 4 and forward. That is of course, assuming nothing really comes out for the casual crowd.
If it is $400 without controllers I could see that.
For it to be competitive (meaning quality of experience, not sales) with Oculus Rift it will have to be at least $400 without controllers.
Sony can't afford to subsidize it $100 to get it to sell. People are finding out that VR is not cheap. Price will slow adoption at first, but later as price drops it will accelerate. Just like every other new electronic.
Wow. Gamers always talk about how CoD is the same every year, and how sports games never change, and how EA rips everyone off.
Then, what are the most bought games? Ummmmm. 1) CoD, 2) Madden, 4) Star Wars Battlefront, 6) NBA, 8) FIFA, and 10) CoD.
6 of the top 10 selling games are games gamers most complain about.
Here's a hint... Maybe if people stopped buying them so much, then maybe the publishers would shift their strategies. The...
And that shows the quality journalists that are in the gaming industry. They can't even get the title right on an article.
Another good three would be:
Forza Horizon 2
Deadrising 3
Rise of the Tomb Raider (Timed)
They are working with NASA.

Does any company do something out of the kindness of their hearts?
I am fine with cross play as long as the security and integrity of both the network and the gameplay are no compromised.
Cross play would help allow people to choose their favorite device/network more which is a good thing.
One of the things that has made me really happy with XBL is that I have never had a credit card or account hijacking issue to date. That, in part is due to the fact MS has solid security in XBL.
Isn't that the reason why developers bring any game to a new platform?
@ShinnosukeRFD
My primary gaming device is XB1.
I really hate exclusives. No matter what console they are for.
Exclusives are just black mail to make you buy a console.
It is too bad that you can't just decide what hardware, firmware, OS features, and what network you prefer and buy the console that suites your needs.
Instead, the publishers do exclusives and force you to a certain console because you can't play the game you want on any other device.
It is actually really frustrating.
If it is Sony or Microsoft we often see these articles that are pretty much, "the tech is bad" or "the tech is amazing".
The reality, is that just like Move, Kinect, WiiMote, etc. there will be games where VR is unequivalically the only way to play. But there will be other games where VR just doesn't add to the game or the gaming experience to justify it.
There is nothing at all wron...
Clocking it higher makes it faster. Faster is better for CPUs.
There is no way to sell it otherwise.
GDC = Game Developers Conference
Typically the winter/spring versions of GDC have the pubs talking about recently used game tech in order to train developers on techniques they can use in their games.
They probably don't want to show QB tech because it is just coming out and since it is a heavy story game showing anything may tip people off. Crackdown is probably not far enough along to show its tech.
@daniel900900
As for the guy's comments in the article about console games not working it was all about in game issues.
Not one of his comments was that he had to uninstall and reinstall the game to make it work or screw around with console settings, or goto some secret place underneath. His comments were about the quality of games.
You are the guy that can't read.
I don't own a Sony console anymore. Haven't owned one for over a year. I only do XB and PC.
I'm just really tired of "this is the greatest game ever" and next to know one has actually played it to know.
Do these guys get paid to promote games as being "the arcade game of 2016"?
Seriously, games release then get assessed, anyone assessing the quality of a game before it is released is just a marketing tool for the company, or a fanboy trying to drive up support.
Let's let the game speak for itself when it is released.
Am I excited for this game? Absolutely! Is it a GOTY for arcade? I don't know until I play it!
@daniel900900
You obviously don't know who you are talking to.
I have been configuring and building software for Windows since 1991. Yes, that was Windows 2.12. And I was there when Microsoft invented the registry (The place where all Win32 apps configure their OS and some user settings). So, when I say fiddling with the registry yes, I am running regedt32 or regedit and I know exactly how to navigate all the hives.
As for a batch job, gamers w...
There is a difference between in game quality and having to fiddle with the operating system to get games to work.
I game on both PC and console, but I prefer console gaming because games install and run on the console without any work. Unlike my PC where I have to very often fiddle in the registry, get the graphics card setup, or run some patch/batch job in the command prompt to get the game to work.
I think that it would be good Sony to start up a new studio just to continue Uncharted. I get that ND should use their creativity and quality on another IP. But, Uncharted is a really good action-adventure IP and deserves to continue so that gamers can experience new stories.
There is nothing wrong with continually having new entries on IPs. They could introduce more characters and do a variety of action-adventure stories on this IP.
