I used to buy a lot of games day one...
But, because:
1) Game quality day one is now questionable
2) Game prices fall like bricks in a few months
3) Games are requiring ongoing purchases after day one
4) I have switched to digital
I now buy games when I feel they are the price they are worth.
Not every title is AAA and top notch. But, even Sacred 3 has some merits. I agree the game could've been much better. But, I still have no complaints about receiving it free.
I am not complaining one bit about GwG. There is nothing wrong with the titles. The writer obviously pays no attention to GwG. Choosing to cite only indie games.
I am impressed that all GwG 360 titles have to be BC now as well so X1 gamers can play them on their X1. Witcher 2, Deus Ex, Dirt Showdown, Crysis 3, and Operation Flashpoint are all great editions to X1 owner libraries for free from 360!
As for the indie vs. AAA thing... Ummmm I disagree. MGS...
@Pongwater
I don't mind disagrees. If people disagree and don't play the game it is their loss not mine. Like I have said, I played through both 360 and X1 versions and am now playing through on PC and am thoroughly enjoying each play through.
I play a lot of games. And last year my opinion was that this was one of the best if not the best game.
Definitely the best Action-Adventure game last year.
Yep.
I played through both the 360 and X1 versions and am now on the PC version!
I could (and will) play through many more times as this game is really, really good!
To me The Order looked great but, really lacked interesting gameplay. Sneak, shoot, QTE. There was really nothing new about it. It was a solid game but had zero innovation.
Remedy has a solid proven track record. Max Payne series and Alan Wake. They really know how to make good story games.
And in Quantum Break they are doing both time manipulation and decision making that changes the story so there are two non-standard game mechanics that make it differ...
Because there is no definitive start and end to the game.
Its like Dori in Finding Nemo:
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...
In Destiny:
Just keep playing, just keep playing...
No real purpose nor meaning. Just keep playing.
I personally don't want to play early access games.
But, I know people who do and like to get games early in their development. It is just another option for gamers to choose or not. These games are clearly labelled in the store so if you don't want to do early access you don't have to.
People saying PS4 should not do early access is ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with providing the option. Just like EA Access. Discounting it gives it mor...
So, what could they do better and not so "uninventive and lazy"?
Jonathan cries all the time...
He hates MS. Countless times he has ripped into them.
He complain about MS discounting his game even though it was in his contract.
He complains about piracy.
And he does it all in the public eye.
Frankly, I will never buy the guy's games no matter how good they are because is a rotten apple in the industry. The only person that likes him is the one that stares back to him...
1) I am not concerned about company intentions or market share. I am concerned about my needs and wants. If a billion dollar monopoly or 100k company supplies what I need and want it is irrelevant.
2) No one should care what OS is on your devices. Do you ask what OS is your networking router, in your modern car, in your smart TV, appliance, etc? Why care so much about an operating system? As long as it does what you need it is irrelevant.
3) What I do c...
What I like with Phil is how selective MS has become on how they spend XB dollars.
Since Phil, MS third party/indie marketing deals have been with Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rainbow Six Seige, Tomb Raider, FIFA, Madden, Dragon's Age, PvZ Garden Warfare 1, The Division, Titanfall, and Sunset Overdrive. Look at the past two years of games and MS has been aligned with most of the best games in the past two years (Outside of Bloodborne)!
They have. Goto Settings > System > Console Info and it should show that an update is available. Then, update it manually.
Good to see Sony showing some healthy profits!
Console sales are nice as well, but without profit it really doesn't mean much.
@I3Ioggs24
As an example Pandemic made The Saboteur. A game that rated over 70 on Matacritic on every platform it shipped. Most gamers who played it thought it was a lot of fun and enjoyed it (me included), but on the 3 platforms it shipped it barely got a million in sales which caused the closure of the studio. One time the developers were asked and there were over 20x the gamer/steam/psn tags that played the game vs bought it. That is beyond ridiculous. That means only 1 out of...
It is just another way to be able to buy and play games.
Everyone needs to decide for themselves whether it is worth it or not. Different situations will dictate whether a gamer feels this service is valuable.
You are completely wrong.
If someone plays the game and doesn't buy it... aka Pirates it. That is a sale that did not happen.
And the logic of word of mouth is flawed in every way. Someone should not get the game free just because they tell 40 friends to buy it after they pirated it.
All developers spend real money to build their games whether they suck or are GOTY. Whatever price they ask should be paid if you decide to play it. If ...
The first party console vendors always share dev info with outside studios. It is part of making sure devs have the tools to make the best games possible on their consoles. And it evangelizes the features of the particular console.
This is Platinum's first Action-RPG. But, given how solid their AAA games are I don't think anyone is too worried about it.
As a gamer I have no issue with the same games on Windows, Xbox, and every other device possible including PS and Wii if possible.
I think it is good for gamers to be able to freely choose their favourite devices and be able to play all the games they like on any of the devices. I think that it is anti-gaming to do exclusives. And I shy away from companies caught up in the mentality that I have to buy a device they make in order to play their games. It is not the way of th...
And there lies the reality of games now.
Ever since the Commodore 64 game Defender of the Crown there has been a difference between a "great looking" game vs. a "great playing" game.
You can have both, but they are mutually exclusive from each other. Just because it looks great, doesn't mean it plays great.
Minecraft has proven that looks don't matter as much as the gameplay within the game. Looks like crap but...
