That's fine for gamers that already have consoles but there will be many millions opening their console on Christmas day and wanting to enter this generation three years after launch for the first time.

All the ddos attacks do is ruin the event for these new gamers starting this generation Christmas day. Sad really.

As for spending time with family that should be something gamers do all the time. Gaming is secondary to family and friends always!

MGS IV never came to 360. It survived just fine without it.

Is it disappointing? As a gamer that likes all games, yes.

Is it some sort of cosmic shift? No, PS4 will continue to sell well worldwide, XB1 will continue to sell well in North America and the UK and completely stink in Japan and other parts of Europe.

@Godmars290
You talk about aesthetics doing nothing for a game yet gamers constantly compare Xbox 900p to PS4 1080p as a reason to choose PS4 over X1. Sony fans can't have it both ways. Aesthetics either matter or don't. Fanboys shouldn't pick and choose when it matters.

So why isn't there a bunch of articles about the terrible sales of Dragon Quest and Disgaea 5?

These were considered the big PS4 exclusives for the holiday. And PS4 gamers talk about diversity all the time but according to these two games they don't buy diversity.

It is alright talking about poor sales on Xbox One, but, it seems there has been no articles about to substantial exclusives for the PS4 with an 80% larger install base had two exclusives. ...

We see these types of discounts all the time for last generation games.

The title makes it sound like this is some type of sensational PlayStation/EA event. Really, this is pretty much a weekly event for last generation titles (and PvZ Garden Warfare).

I think that Battlefield and CoD are two different games where Battlefield MP has been gaining momentum on CoD MP for the last few years. But, I find that people who like deeper gameplay are more into the Battlefield MP and people who are more casual gamers like the CoD campaigns.

Its funny, I went to a friends place and their teenage kid loves CoD every year. He pre-orders and plays it without even watching E3 and events like it showcasing the games. But to him Battlefiel...

I think, since they showed the Gamescom demo with Crackdown and therefore the more tangible use of the cloud, gamers are taking more interest in what they are doing.

Microsoft may not be winning in console sales, but they are definitely ahead of most companies in their use of the cloud.

Microsoft are no dummies. They are playing a long term game to be highly profitable from gaming. The Minecraft and Havok purchases are both about creating long term profitab...

Sony and Nintendo aren't in the same league when it comes to cloud stuff.

Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Oracle are the leaders/competitors.

Sony and Nintendo are niche cloud players right now. In fact, I wouldn't even call Nintendo a cloud player, they just came too late to the party and will license the use of cloud tech rather than push it themselves.

It is not interesting because Azure service are already available for all developers on all platforms already. You can take advantage of Azure on any platform.

All MS has done here is design some XBL services so that there is no dependency on using MS/XBL accounts.

This is just a standard business practice. If a business separates from a highly regarded or high ranking individual they often money hat them and in return the individual is asked to be quiet.

There is a lot of dirt in corporate affairs. I am sure both Konami and Kojima would have a lot to say about each other if given the chance.

What's wrong?

Gamers are gamers no matter what device they use.

3843d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

It was much, much deeper than that.

I'll just say that was the last straw on a road of many issues Sony and I had.

Extra credit charges, warranty repairs on two different consoles, TV issues with the console, among others.

I am not saying MS is an angel neither. I have had a lot of things happen with them. They have just dealt with it a lot better when escalated.

To me, the disappointments were:

The Order (One of many reasons I dumped my PS4)
Batman Arkham Knight
Rare Replay (Was hoping they would modernize the games)
Star Wars Battlefront (Disappoint content and no real SP)
Evolve
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5
Call of Duty Black Ops III
Ride
Overlord Fellowship of Evil
Game of Thrones

I have yet to see a pure fighter game have a great story. All they do is tack the story in to transition between fights and make the game seem better.

Most people buy fighting games for the online experience since X360 put Virtua Fighter 5 online. Now, online is what makes these games have value for more than a few hours.

Since Microsoft's holiday slogan was the "greatest games lineup in XB history"...

The best Sony marketers could come up with was "The worst holiday games lineup in Sony history". So, they just didn't bother with it and stuck to "for the players" and "greatness awaits".

It is hard to argue against or for the subjective marketing of "greatest games lineup in XB history".

But, there is some facts...

Metacritic ratings of the games:

Rare Replay = 84
Gears Ultimate = 82
Forza Motorsports 6 = 87
Halo 5 = 84
Fable Legends = DELAYED
Rise of the Tomb Raider = 86 (Timed Exclusive)

Please educate us all as to what XB games lineup in a span 5 months had...

So, what you are really saying is that Sony did not do something in gamers' interest in designing the PS4. They neglected to design the PS4 in a way where they could do backwards compatibility.

They knew from the start that the cell was a much different architecture than the new PS4. They could've come up with ways to make cell emulation in the PS4 easy. But, instead they gambled on charging gamers for a form of BC through PS Now.

And then they go ...

I am in a different boat.

I have a few 360's throughout my home, for travel, and at my summer property.

BC has allowed me to disconnect all except one 360 (reserved for games not in BC).

That way, I don't need multiple consoles, I just need X1 for 360 and X1 games most of the time.

I agree with DoctorFraud.

Console vendors asked us to buck up $400-500 for new consoles and we are coming into the third year and there has not been a single game that I justified the $400 and $500 purchase.

There has been a bunch of new IPs. But outside of Bloodborne and Sunset Overdrive they have been mostly disappointing or could've been made on previous consoles. The Order, Knack, Ryse, and many other "AAA" new IPs have really just been fa...

This is so dumb.

First, Kojima needs a backer. He makes great games but they are also costly to make and market, so he can't do it on his own. He had to either partner with a big third party like Activision, EA, or Ubisoft. Or a first party such as MS or Sony.

Third parties probably shied away. Although Kojima games are very highly rated and have great worldwide appeal/sales, Kojima rarely ships a major game on time. His track record is multi-year ...
