I don't know about the UK, but Costco in the US and Canada sell $50 cards for PSN and XBL at a discount as well.
Microsoft announced an 88% increase in game sales this holiday. So, one can only assume that gamers are going more into digital.
All the gamers whining that they are not going digital is not being supported by the factual record.
Online only is a journey.
It was once thought that using electricity for stuff was a bad thing because power was unreliable.
It is only a matter of time before the internet becomes fully high speed and redundant.
Will it be in the next couple years? Probably not, but within a decade or two is completely feasible. Especially now that cars are starting to include LTE connections. It is only a matter of time before the level of redundancy mak...
I don't see what's wrong. Even Kojima's new Sony exclusive s going to PC. Does that diminish the PS platform?
Bloodborne has been out for 9 months and still hasn't hit 2 million.
Until Dawn barely a million.
Maybe if you are comparing it to Call of Duty and Star Wars Battlefront it looks bad, it is an Action-adventure game it is second only to Uncharted in sales.
I don't know how that's a failure. Especially, when it shipped at a very busy time of the year. The sales just show that this game has good legs. It didn't sell a million ...
The bigger question is how many actually ship?
To me, a game is not scheduled for the year until it has an actual ship date.
There are many games across all platforms that I doubt will ship this year.
I agree completely.
Showing games early misleads gamers. Lots of people make console buying decisions on when they are told games will ship.
Square has released XB exclusive games before that did not get huge sales.
The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery. If they "learned a lesson" from them, then that lesson was learnt a generation ago.
I have a Rift development kit. It is a very cool tech, but after about two weeks of use it has joined my pile of electronics that collect dust.
Nothing at all wrong with the device. Its immersion is second to nothing. But, the issue with VR is that while you have it on, your ability to take part in real world activities like phone calls, facetime/skype, family conversations, get the door, etc become a annoyance always causing you to take off the device and interrupt what y...
Killer Instinct has been exclusive to X1 since the generation started. If you were going to buy an X1 because of Killer Instinct you would've already done it.
That's a pretty dumb reason not to buy a game.
So, if you use Steam you don't buy any Steam Store exclusives?
As long as it they allow all X1 games to run on the new and old xbox ones (with different framerates and resolution only) I don't see what the fuss would be about.
Phil has stated that they should find ways to introduce hardware innovations as each console cycle rolls ahead.
@LamerTamer
That is true.
But when you are a games developer it isn't about wanting to spend time and money optimizing platforms, it is more a fact of economics that forces you to target many platforms. Simply no platform can give you enough sales to survive. You have to target many platforms so that you maximize your sales.
For what quality of graphics and environment interactivity?
People are on the hype train, but the number of games demoed to date has been 8 and outside of Ace Combat, I don't here a lot about how great those games are. I am sure this will provide a very cool and immersive experience, but the real question is will the games be any good? That question is totally unanswered right now.
Sony has promised PSVR since the generation started, isn't it about ...
First Sony is an electronics and media company. Not just a gaming company.
Second, DX12 and Sony's API's should not be compared. DX12 is designed to work with every graphics card while Sony's solution is for a specific hardware.
I would assume that Sony can optimize for their hardware set much more than MS can optimize DX12 across all the different video cards. But, MS is trying to make DX12 work on many devices while Sony is focused on PS.
The gaming public also prefers to buy games like Call of Duty, Star Wars Battlefront, and Assassin's Creed more than Bloodborne...
Does that mean those games are better than Bloodborne?
Why someone would jailbreak a PS4 to run Steam is beyond me. Why not just buy a PC and do it both safe and sanctioned?
Can you please cite proof of previous MS planned shortages and false interest?
Yeah, I figured...
"Better" is very subjective.
First, you have to decide what you include on "Better". Does this include third parties and indies? Do you include re-mastered games? Ports from other platforms like Vita, PS3, X360, PC, etc?
Then, what do you use as facts to measure better? Online players? Sales? Metacritic ratings? N4G articles, etc.
Then, did you thoroughly play thru all the exclusives so you can have an objective opinio...
So, what you are saying is that because Sony does not ship most of their games on any other platform other than PS you were blackmailed into buying their console.
Would you have bought the console otherwise?
