Yesterday it was announced that XB brought in $10 bln in revenue.
Not much reason to jump to next gen yet.
I still want better first party games! Signs are good from MS, but they have to lift the quality of first party games.
The announcement is updated here:

"Why did Microsoft Enter the video game space"
So, that video game journalists would have something to write about for decades to come.
So what happens as the media disc player on your console dies?
What happens when the media gets too old and doesn't work (DVD lifespans are short). Or the discs can get damaged.
What happens when they update the OS and the game breaks because it did not get an update?
There are many ways games stop working. In the past 10 years I have lost 7 Blu-ray/DVD discs to physical issues. In the same timeframe I have only lost two digital ...
No, not at all. I have many devices and I will not change that...
I like the simplicity of consoles. Yes, they are based on PC hardware, but they are simple to setup and use. That is not an issue for me, but is for the rest of my family to use the living room device.
I like a PC too. And I have a nice one. But, I only play RTS type games on it really. Well suited for that.
I like my phone when I am outside my house and want to kil...
Ya, as long as consumers don't ask for it, it won't happen. And as long as consumers keep rewarding all of the companies (Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo) for not taking that approach it won't happen.
I do not believe any console vendor gets a gold star here. They are all just as bad as each other at this point in time.
No. I am stating that I should be able to buy whatever device suites my tastes and I should be able to play every game released on that device and that I should be able to play with any player on any other device.
I am tired of buying three consoles every generation to play all the games I want to play. I Love, Forza Motorsports, Forza Horizon, and Gears of War, I love Uncharted and the Last of Us, I love Mario games, Pokémon, and Zelda games. I HATE HAVING THREE CO...
All games should be available on all platforms. That is a win for gamers.
Device vendors, publishers, and developers should be able to develop games through a unified suite of tools that makes it simple to ship across platforms.
Gamers should be able to choose any platform and play the games they want to play the most.
Device vendors then compete on quality of their hardware and the entertainment experience their platform can provide a...

Some people have friends in real life that are gamers too. Very close friends and often they like to play games together. So, they typically have all ended up buying the same console because that is the only way they can still play together. With crossplay they can choose the console they prefer (and it may not be the same as their friends) and still play online together.
I still don't understand why give gamers choice is bad. A lot of people are ...
$199 still makes it difficult to justify. $200 is a maximum for accessories. Below $99 is where people would probably just buy it and not think much. $49 and I think most people would definitely buy it.
VR is proven to be an experience enhancer. Just like racing wheels, flight sticks, fighting controllers, etc. But, the problem is that you don't need VR for most games. And putting the VR headset on is pretty annoying. Add to that the space required with move cont...
VR is just too expensive and it is not for every game so it becomes an optional accessory. Most accessories that are successful long term are below $200. VR has to find a way to become a lot cheaper.
Also, it provides gamers with more confidence to choose what platform they would prefer over the platforms that their friends buy.
Every major console company has shareholders. Shareholders force the company to squeeze more profits out. If a company appears to have monopoly control of an industry shareholders force the company to exert that control to squeeze out more profit.
That's how it works whether it is Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. The most important thing is for gamers to keep these companies all honest and not let any of them pursue anti-consumer behaviours.
While I agree that some games should not be finite experiences, I do think that there are games that both can and should be finite experiences.
Sometimes it is better to tell a story or a small set of stories than to have a never ending journey.
"Forsaken update is going to give dedicated players more reasons to play"
Maybe they should give gamers a reason to play Destiny 2 period.

The article is pointing out a pricing discrepancy in a single region. The article is not comparing the price to what Americans pay. Whether it is or is not aligned to American prices is completely irrelevant.
What the article is say is that the prices are not in line with its competitor in the same region. I doubt South Africans care what Americans pay for the games. But, if I was South African paying double what my Xbox buddies pay would ...
@The_Jackel
What does us pricing have to do with South Africa?
There are 125 million active users according to Steam on PC including about 14 million per day.
That is active users, not PCs sold. Currently Microsoft lists Windows 10 as being on over 500 million PCs.
No matter how you slice it the numbers on consoles don't hold up well to PC. The aggregate of all consoles would be about equal to the PC gaming market.
I am completely fine with Halo going its own direction.
Give me a great Halo story, a solid multiplayer, and a solid firefight mode and I am sure I will love it.
I have stayed away from MMOs and now battle royales. MMOs and battle royales are just sport games, I prefer games as art. And art is a great story, sound, and engaging environment.
