Yup, but what does this have to do with exclusive games?
The most important part of a console are its exclusives.
I hate it when companies announce games that are more than a year away. To me, that is vaporware and they should not do it. It is too hard to predict if a game will be done in over a year. Especially if it is new and innovative. These things take time and need to incubate properly.
Break down the barriers between consoles! I like it!
DriveClub was awful at launch yet it got turned around.
Doesn't seem like Sea of Thieves had near the same issues so it shouldn't be too hard to make it the game everyone wants.
I'm not sure why that is sad. Rise of the Tomb Raider has been one of the best games this generation for me. And really what needs to change or become better? The story was solid, the mechanics are great, the open area approach was awesome, puzzles were good, hunting and gathering was great, graphically awesome, sound awesome, the levelling up was great, etc.
I'm not sure what you are expecting them to innovate here? Not every game genre needs 10 major innovations in...
Straight from the song Thrift Shop...
I'm like, Yo that's fifty dollars for a T-shirt
Limited edition, let's do some simple addition
Fifty dollars for a T-shirt, that's just some ignorant b****
I call that getting swindled and pimped
I call that getting tricked by a business
And that pretty much sums up all special addition consoles no matter the brand or vendor. $500 for a day one console is acceptable....
Love this game!
There is no reason to pre-order and buy games on day one anymore.
Uncharted 1, Gears of War 1, Halo 1, God of War 1, The Last of Us 1, GT 1, etc. were all innovations that left gamers speechless that consoles could run those games. Now, games are more about the whole package and aren't bringing as many obvious innovations.
Buying on day one is really an exercise in overpaying for something that you can wait 6 months and get it at half the price for...
I don't see a lot of call of duty games in the high 80's and 90's on Metacritic so your comparison is flawed.
Call of Duty main games have mostly been in the high 70's and very low 80's this gen.
There was one Forza main game at 82 on xbox one this generation and all other main games have been above 85.
That is not true. We see articles quite often on N4G about "Why should Microsoft continue with consoles?" and "Microsoft isn't going to build another console because they want you on PC".
By stating they have another console coming, they are creating certainty for people that buy and XB that there will be another device. And if they can ship their console with a bunch of great games a year earlier than PS they can may be able to return to the succe...
@Scatpants
Intention and doing for everything is a different story.
Every company comes up with plans to monetize their products more and more and every company is constantly adjusting those plans based on market reactions.
I have gamed in every generation (I'm 48)…
I call this generation the recycle generation. Too many games have been remastered/HD'd… I don't mind the remakes where they totally redo the game and modernize it.
There have been some really great games this generation, but I look at them incremental improvements instead of true innovations.
Why? The loot boxes did not affect the overall game experience. I completely Finished Forza Motorsports 7 without purchasing a single loot box, and it took me less time than any other Forza Motorsports game.
I hope CoD bombs this year. No SP campaign, no purchase for me.
I think the PS4 is headed for 100 million in sales. Spider-man will not change that fact.
@Christopher
You are assuming that they can choose their investors. They are publicly traded and therefore anyone who wants to can invest and buy their stock.
I have a diverse stock line but at the same time, I will never invest in game publishers or developers. The risk is just way too high. A couple of under-performing games can sink many developers. A few bad years and the major publishers can go under as well. Plus, games are getting more and more expensiv...
@Christopher.
Investors invest in Bethesda in order to get a specifically desired ROI. If they can't get their desired ROI they will go somewhere else where they can. Although from a gamer point of view we don't expect every game to be as profitable as a different game, that is not how investors look at things.
I have bought many shares of many companies through my life. In each investment I am looking for a specific ROI. If an investment underperforms ...

I think Bethesda is doing fine with Prey, Wolfenstein, Doom, and soon Rage.
I would love if the games added Co-op.
But, please don't mess with the formula too much Bethesda!
You should join Sony PR.
